Treasure_Trove

A cave full of treasure chests, all in plain view. Be careful, though! Not all the chests contain treasure..... How much treasure can YOU find before you decide to leave, or succumb to one of the chests without treasure?

Warning! Please read the whole profile before approaching! I'm getting tired of having to explain myself. Also, if you approach and you're NOT going to Rp.... why did you even approach in the first place?



Well, it happened. I (Damon_) finally made a location character!

Signs:

Open/LFRP- Ready for another run.
IC- Already got a hit from someone; waiting for them for whatever reason.
DND- Already doing a run.
Away- setting up for another run.
Distracted- Setting up, but still open to whispers
OOC- Editing Profile to add stuffs, or Checking PL's/PUB's. (assume that I'm on this sign if in the OOC room if I haven't actually changed to it.)


For treasures, I will start with a dice roll. (50s) result will be the number of treasure chests. Of that result, I will roll an appropriately-sided die (I know of a webpage that allows me to choose the number of sides) to choose the number of "bad chests." (Neither of these rolls will be stated, but the quantity roll will be obvious.)

The quality of the sign out front will depict the number of rooms/chambers in the trove.

Beat-up sign= Single room
Normal quality sign (Won't have a modifier; I'll just say "sign")= Double room
Somewhat elegant sign= Triple room
Very elegant sign= Quadruple room

Variations:
Find the key- As you enter the trove, a metal door will shut and lock behind you. It's magically fortified, so it can't be destroyed in any way. The only hope you'll have is to find the key, which will randomly be placed in a "good chest" along with the treasure... after a certain number of chests have been opened. Once you have the key, you can leave at any time.
Multi-character- For "group" profiles or just players willing to use more than one character. Strikes are foregone; you have as many chances as characters. Can also be played with Find the Key.
Sudden gulp- The original idea I had for this profile; No strikes at all! You open a bad chest, and it's game over right there! Also can be played with Find the Key.
Custom rules?- You may include or exclude anything you like. (at my discretion) Wanna do a run with ONLY slimes? Alright. Want more strikes? doable. Wanna be able to "continue" AS your predator? Why not? (well, almost all the booby traps would be "why not", but...) You can also opt to remove any "bad chest" type you don't like.

Fun Fact: I usually arrange the chests in at least one room into a smiley face design, just for fun.

I only make one map at a time, so this game is on strictly a first-come-first-served basis. While I'm setting up, you may reserve a spot, but that doesn't insure that the map I'm making will be the one you get for your run. I will come back to you when I'm finished setting up and ask if you want to play if you're still on, though.


"Bad chests" may include:

1. A Mimic= Try not to have the misfortune of picking this one, it'll try to eat you! (there will be several of these)

2. Slime (on wet ceiling above)= go to open this chest, and not only will you find an empty chest, but the slime will fall on you. (Whether it lands on you or not depends on your strikes.(see below))

3. Monster-in-a-Box= The chest contains a monster, which will try to eat you, then slink away with a full gut. If it can't eat you, it might just leave, depending on your strikes. (several of these, too. In the event that you're playing "find the key", the monster will return to its chest if avoided, like a Special Monster-in-a-box)

4. Special Monster-in-a-Box= Same as the normal monster-in-a-box, but this time, the monster is a previous victim of booby trap 6. (See below)
(They will not escape if you still have strikes remaining, instead choosing to return to their chest.)

5. Booby Trap 1= in front of the chest is a trapdoor, which is activated by the opening of the empty chest. The trapdoor leads to a chute which deposits you into the maw of a hungry monster. (If you have strikes left, the trapdoor may jam, allowing you to avoid falling through.)

6. Booby Trap 2= The trapdoor chute drops you into a lair full of predators (crocodiles, alligators, or lions, just as examples. Depending on their personalities, they may work together, or fight over who gets you.)

7. Booby Trap 3= There is a carnivorous plant growing in the chest. However, if you do get away, plants do have a certain range they can lunge to. (Whether you can truly get away or not depends on your strikes.)

8. Booby Trap 3.5= Opening the chest will waft a rancid smell, attracting a monster from outside the trove to come in. (mostly giant insects) Will not be placed in a "Find the Key" trove.

9. Booby Trap 4= The treasure chest has a sigil marking burned into the wood inside that warps you to a hungry monster's lair upon being opened. (Of course, there is no escape, especially since the spell warps space and occasionally time, depending on the occasion. If you still have strikes left, the sigil fails to work.)

10. Booby Trap 5= The sigil marking in this one turns you *into* treasure, which is then put into another chest the next time. (You become the "Gold and jewels" treasure. Again, with remaining strikes, the sigil fails to work)

11. Booby Trap 6= The sigil marking in this one turns you into a monster, which is then compelled to hop in the chest and become a "Special Monster-in-a-box" (again, remaining strikes and the sigil doesn't work)



What you may find in "Good Chests":

1-4. 1, 5, 10, or 20 Gold coins
5. A ruby (only one)
6. A black pearl
7. A diamond
8. 2 large pearls
9. 3 emeralds
10. 4 sapphires
11. 5 amethyst
12. 6 topaz
13. 7 citrine
14. Gold and Jewels together (Previous victim of Booby Trap 5. About 100 gold, and a random quantity of previously mentioned jewels)
15. An IOU for any of those, suggesting a thief got to the chest before you.
(these IOUs may be "Booby Prizes", but keep 'em. You never know, they might have actual value if you escape.... Ok, I was keeping it a secret until someone actually kept one, but the IOU's ARE actually worth keeping. They add the amount written to your score if and when you leave, but not before, so it's a incentive to quit while you're ahead... Basically, a note that says "Hey, if you leave, you'll get this!" Truely, they're just like the rest of the loot; constructs of the trove itself.)


You get three strikes for bad chests. After the third one, you'll get eaten. (or transformed)
What this means is that you have two chances to try again. On your third strike, you must let your character succumb.(Basically, it's just like baseball.) (Also, fighting against a predator is allowed, but don't think you'll win.)
You are not obliged to use all your strikes, however... you may give yourself up at any time.
You may also leave at any time. (in non "Find the Key" rules, of course.)

On the rare occurance that you clean out the trove of all "good chests", I'll tell you, and you can then either leave.... or keep going, deciding to give yourself up.

Tiana_Darktail by a Mimic. She found 52 gold coins, 3 emeralds, and a ruby before getting eaten.

Lorene by a Night Fury (sorry Dreamworks and Cressida Cowell) via Booby trap 1. She found 21 gold coins, 2 rubies, 4 sapphires, 6 Topaz, and 2 IOU's, One for 4 sapphires, and one for 3 emeralds.

Zaphea_0 by a giant, lizard-like Monster-in-a-Box. She found a black pearl (which made her wet) and an IOU for 5 gold coins.

Gaoru by a slime. She didn't find anything, so she wanted to continue as the slime. I made an exception, and as the slime, she found 31 gold coins, 1 ruby, 1 diamond, 5 amethysts, 7 citrine, and an IOU for a black pearl before getting eaten by a plant (Booby trap 3)

Tiffany_C by a plant (Booby trap 3). She found 2 gold coins, a ruby, a diamond, a black pearl, 2 large pearls, 4 sapphires, 5 amethysts, 6 topaz, 7 citrine, and an IOU for 20 gold coins.

ServusAnohil by a Mimic. He found a ruby, a black pearl, and an IOU for 10 gold coins, though he left it in the chest.

Swiftclaw by an Ant-like Monster-in-a-Box. She didn't find anything.

Adaren by a Mimic. He found 11 gold coins, a black pearl, and 2 large pearls.

Vehk from the Pack_of_Rats by a slime. He didn't find anything, and was absorbed permanently at player's request.

Udohorn By a T-Rex; via Booby trap 4. He found 1 gold and 6 topaz.

Hannah_R by a Mimic. She found 12 gold pieces, a Ruby, 3 emeralds, and 6 Topaz.

Arteku_Noth by a Mimic. He found 16 gold pieces, a diamond, three emeralds, and 6 topaz before meeting his demise.

Maria_Herrera by a giant lizard, via Booby Trap 1. She only found a diamond and four Sapphires.

Eliune_fezester by a Rabbit-like Monster-in-a-Box. He found 25 gold and 3 Emeralds before being painfully and slowly digested over 5 days by the lapin.

Anixelle by a slime. The Poor Jerboa/Wolverine anthro just couldn't help herself in the trove, managing to pocket a black pearl, a diamond, 2 large pearls, and 4 sapphires before the goopy creature got the drop on her... literally. (She also found an IOU for 20 gold, but left it behind.)

Serenity_Yhanthlei by a Mimic. She found 2 Large Pearls, 3 Emeralds, and 5 Amethysts before getting eaten by the fake chest.

Pawn_Lilith by a spider-like Monster-in-a-Box. Going around in order, she found 51 gold pieces, 3 emeralds and 7 Citrine before the thing popped out of chest 7 and swallowed her whole. ((Player quit without using any strikes))

Night_N by the Night Fury (Again, sorry to Dreamworks and Cressida Cowell) Via Booby Trap 1. She found 31 gold, 3 emeralds, and an IOU for 20 gold before the blue-fire spitting dragon made her curl up in its stomach.

Nix the Hexer by a Mimic. She collected 10 gold, 3 emeralds, 5 Amethysts, 6 topaz, and an IOU for a diamond before being digested in the square stomach.

Foehn_Chocobo by a swamp plant. (A chuckling plant, as they ARE capable of making a sound that sounds like chuckling.) Not through booby trap 3, but through Booby trap 2, actually. He was tag-teamed by two of the many carnivorous swamp plants; one got his attention and led him into an ambush by the other plant. He had found 7 Citrine, a diamond, and 5 gold before becoming plant food.

Kitty_Cane by a giant frog, via booby trap 2. She found two diamonds and 3 emeralds before entering the swamp and being fought over by several of the amphibians, one finally getting her as she tried to escape from a group of three as they debated over who would get her.

Machiavelli by a giant spider, via booby trap 2. He was cocooned by two of the spider's "Friends" and then swallowed whole. He found a Black Pearl, 7 citrine, and an IOU for a diamond before his greed got the better of him.

Kyr by a Mimic. The dragon's luck just wasn't what it needed to be, and he got a black pearl, a diamond and 4 sapphires before picking wrong twice in a row, having lost another strike just two chests before...

Jackson_Riah by a purple slime. His luck was quite good, selecting a good amount of the right chests and getting quite a lot of sapphires before the goopy thing literally got the drop on him. He found 30 gold, 2 black pearls, a diamond, 2 large pearls, 12 Sapphires(!) and 5 amethyst.

Characters transformed (and who they ended up going home with, either as spoils or as their predator. Also will mark how much treasure they collected before transformation)
Moly_Moonchild entered the trove, with some trepidation at first, which turned to greed as she found gems, gems, and more gems! However, a plant brought her back to reality (Booby Trap 3), but only enough to make her think she was being pranked. Booby Trap 5 brought her further back into reality, as she was turning into treasure and her cries for help were ignored. The horrible realization that she was going to be just more spoils for subsequent adventurers dawned on her, and it was too late...((1 diamond, 1 ruby, 5 amethyst, and 6 topaz were left behind... No recipient yet.))

Wifwolf Entered, and was instantly trapped inside as the door shut and locked behind her! Her luck didn't seem very good; first, she almost succumbed to a slime, but was able to trap it in the empty chest it was waiting over. She only found a single ruby before finding a strange magic symbol on the next chest, and being compelled to climb into it. As she sat there, her sentience was stripped away, and now there's a feral yellow werewolf in one of the chests....(Player gave up without using all strikes specifically to give me a "Special Monster-in-a-box." I feel special now! No prey yet.)

Teriko with 2 large pearls and 4 sapphires.

Cyndro with 20 gold and a diamond

Tama_Mirage who entered, knowing of the dangers of the trove, and was trapped inside. She miraculously found the key around halfway through her looting adventure, and after avoiding two mimics thanks to an enchanted amulet, decided to cut and run. She found 65 gold, (Gil) a black pearl, a diamond, 2 rubies, 3 emeralds, and 8 sapphires, plus an IOU for 4 sapphires, which, once she left, turned INTO that amount, giving her 12 sapphires in all. (This is what the IOU's are for. They add the amount written to your score if and when you leave, but not before.)

You may try again anytime after losing or leaving (only when I'm open and ready), but only to better your score, and the new run should not be canon to your old one; it should be like your character never went there in the first place. If you don't do any better, your previous score will stand, but if you do, your old one will get a strikethrough, and the new score will be marked underneath.
What constitutes a "better run"? Well, all gems found in lower quantities are considered better. And of course, the more gold, the better.
