Petra for short! Lasers, jet pack and dragon, all in one.
Appearance
Height: 9' 4'' to the shoulder, 4' long neck.
Weight: A lot.
Build: Stocky, but muscular
Coloration: Oranges, rust-reds and dull browns for scales, with her mechanical parts being a utilitarian metallic gray.
Personality
Cocky and sure of herself, Petroska has a fiery personality to match her body. As the second youngest of four sisters, she usually wants to be seen as one of, if not THE biggest person in any given situation with a commanding presence and relative aura of power. She's usually a good judge of ability, so will tend to shy away from beings that can put her in her relative place, but she's been known to beat, and usually eat things her size or smaller that get too uppity.
Abilities and powers
Laser: Petroska can fire an energy beam out of the mechanism on her chest. Doing this consumes quite a bit of internal energy, depending on how damaging it needs to be, but is an effective way of ending a fight swiftly. The laser tends to singe people even on lower 'settings' but at its highest it can reduce a normal person to a smoldering soot-stain on the ground.
Jet Pack: Obviously this particular dragon has no wings, but instead has a jetpack on her back. It consumes most manner of fuels that make their way into her digestive system, from conventional fossil fuels to any kind of energy crystals, to even being able to convert biomass into a usable state. Despite her considerable size, it's easily able to propel Petroska at subsonic speeds through the air, though she isn't exactly the most manueverable thing in the sky. Because of this, she tends not to use her flight casually, and it's usually easy to tell where she lands by the crater she leaves behind.
Dragon: In addition to the laser and jet pack, Petroska is obviously a dragon. She tends to consume all manner of things from vast quantities of plants, to living creatures, and even man-made objects. Her digestive system is nothing if not robust, being able to find a use for most of what she's able to cram into her mouth. She tends to need a large helping of biomass, to fuel her organic parts and her augments, but eating mechanical things is also quite important too. Metals she eats are used to reinforce her scales and armor plating, which tends to get damaged often due to various reasons.
Background
Space is without a doubt, big. Despite that, the chances of things bumping into each other are almost infinitely close to certain, given enough time. For example, a highly advanced spacecraft when rendered inoperable by a cosmic anomaly, will continue going in the same direction until it hits something like, say, this planet. Dropping the hypotheticals, that is exactly what happened about 15 years back, with a space ship with advanced mechanical and biological components crashing somewhere in the mountains, impacting and subsequently destroying a small lake and the surrounding area. Days later, they emerged. Four dragons that had somehow been created from the surviving pieces of the vessel.
The first was
Citra_Nutrigen, nurturing and caring as one would expect from the ship's medical and life support systems. Next came
Umbra_Biomorph, flowing out of the crater and comprised of the self-repairing nanomachines that formed the hull and stealth systems. Third was
Petra_Laz, hot headed and brash, armed with advanced weaponry and augmented by the thrusters. And finally the flighty and fickle
Hypara_Waymaker, literally popping into existence just as the hyperspace module's signature vanished. The four sisters stayed in those mountains for a few months, getting to know the world and themselves, but eventually all left to explore and experience the world in their own ways.
