Mitty is the eldest daughter of the family that’s second-in-line to rule. Her family was head of the council under the Verity chief. Because of these ties between their families, there was always a sense of competition between them.

For all of her life, she was very blatantly compared to the two daughters of their chief, who bore lovely slender bodies despite their gluttonous nature.

Mitty wasn’t blessed with such a fortunate metabolism. In fact, she ate less than the daughters of the chief. But because she was heavier, it was a free pass to harass and bully her. The younger of the two daughters, Aria, took every opportunity to do so.

Mitty was a disgrace to her father, who constantly berated her for her “sinful” and “shameful” appearance. Food was heavily restricted from her at home, meaning she had to sneak most of the things she ate. Her mother would tell her she was worthless to their family and wouldn’t even be able to marry with such an unsightly body and would even lock her in her room sometimes for multiple days at a time in hopes of forcing her “lazy” daughter to lose some weight

The people who bullied her the most were also the ones who indulged in their depraved appetites most of all, and that’s what felt so unfair to her. She was doing her best, but even with all of the dieting and forcing herself to go hungry, she was just Built Like This. The more she tried to deny herself, the more obsessive she became over this shameful hunger of hers that she couldn’t seem to get rid of.

Eventually her parents essentially wrote her off and focused on her younger siblings, praising them for all their accomplishments while ignoring her own.

On the day she turned 18 they threw her out, as they were no longer obliged to keep “that thing” in their home to sully their appearance to other people.

She left her homeland and never looked back.

She’s still having some trouble adjusting to the outside world where things are so, SO different. People eating meats, brazenly snacking in public, exposing their midriffs… it was sensory overload (and still was at times). She has insofar stuck to her vegetarian diet and typically doesn’t eat in public if it can at all be avoided.

Trivia:
1. In her culture, touching someone's midsection is akin to groping a woman's breast/buttocks; fine to do to your partner, not so much a friend. It is also extremely taboo to show it off to anyone. You'd be hard-pressed to find Mitty in a situation with any kind of clothing that might lift up enough to reveal her abdomen by mistake.

2. She's a bit wary of humans, as her kind were often sold into slavery or hunted for their horns, which are extremely sturdy. Though this doesn't happen often at all any more, she still retains initial distrust/fear of humans.

3. Animals typically take a fast liking to Mitty. She's not quite sure why, but she enjoys it.

4. The deity her homeland worshiped is called Faunus.
