Gupi is from a large tribe of rams not completely unlike many other sheep kemonomimi that are seen around. The way that they differ, though, is their strict customs on eating.

You see, all of Gupi's people were raised vegetarian, despite their ability (and great enjoyment) of eating meat. This lifestyle changes once individuals are paired and married (which normally happened at the ripe age of 18. Our Gupi is a bit of an old maid by her tribe's standards!). On their wedding night, the betrothed go to a private dining hall arranged with a large feast for the two of them. Together, they both share their first taste of meats. It's sensual, and many other marital-activities are shared as the couple dines. Because of this custom, eating in general is widely fetishised throughout the people, which has caused eating in public to be a taboo.

As soon as they are able, most families encourage their lambs to eat on their own in private. On special occasions, families will eat together, though it's still rare.

Gupi's father was the head of the tribe, her mother was his great love and she was their firstborn. When she was six, her mother died in child-birth with her younger sister, Aria. Their father, though he would never say it, resented his youngest child for taking his wife away from him. It showed in his actions, which led to Aria growing up to be the "bad" daughter and Gupi was the "model" daughter. After years of struggling to hold her family together, she got the idea from the second-in-line tribe's eldest daughter, Mitty, to just... leave. She suddenly felt the desire to see what else existed in the world-- what the world outside of her own region's isolated and rigid customs was like...

And so, she set off on an adventure, leaving everything she knew behind (though Aria soon came after). The shock of the world around her having a completely different culture from the one in which she was raised was almost overwhelming for Gupi. She was always a bit withdrawn and introverted, but now in this new world, she was bordering on crippling shyness! Still, Gupi has a kind heart and will put aside her feelings in order to help anyone in need. She managed to enroll in some classes to become educated about the world around her, as well as gaining a job to do in her new hometown.

The biggest shock to Gupi was how openly everyone ate! They ate in public, they ate on the move. Even going on dinner dates with people they didn't even know! Again, this world surprised her, and continues to surprise her to this day. For the most part, she's yet to really drop her customs, but she doesn't try to impose them on anyone else.

Trivia:
1. In her culture, touching someone's midsection is akin to groping a woman's breast/buttocks; fine to do to your partner, not so much a friend. It is also extremely taboo to show it off to anyone. Because of this, Gupi often wears long tunics that have no chance of showing anything like that off!

2. She's a bit wary of humans, as her kind were often sold into slavery or hunted for their horns, which are extremely sturdy. Though this doesn't happen often at all any more, she still retains initial distrust/fear of humans.

3. She does have sheep ears! They are just under her hair!

4. In a modern-day setting, Gupi would likely work as a secretary for a wealthy businessman. However, in a more "way back when" sort of setting, she'd work on a farm, tending to animals.

5. Animals typically take a fast liking to Gupi. She's not quite sure why, but she enjoys it.

6. The deity her homeland worshiped is called Faunus.
