Origins
Listen carefully, as what I'm about to tell you really happened. A long time ago there were a prominent family of Blacksmiths, known as the Schrilven Family. They were the premier blacksmiths in all the world. Many lords of many lands paid a fortune to get their hands on a Schrilven-Made weapon. However, one lord became greedy, and wanted to conquer the entire world. To do this, he decided he would need toe services of the Schrilven Blacksmiths for him and only him. That man was Emperor Laris Faust. Emperor Faust, or as he was better known as in those days, the Lord of Darkness, sent his soldiers to capture the Schrilven Blacksmiths. His soldiers, with minimal resistance, captured them with a cunning surprise attack at Nightfall. Some swore alliegance to the Lord of Darkness, and others who refused were brutally executed and dumped into a mass grave outside the entrance to the Schrilven home.
Unbenownst to the Dark Lord, an old man and his grandaughter alone out of the Schrilven Family had managed to remain hidden and elude capture. In the secrecy of the Schrilven home, the old man taught his granddaughter of the art of the Spiritual Blacksmith, and even he, a master unto himself, was amazed at her ability, for by age 16 she had already greatly surpassed him. However, he was concerned. His granddaughter, Kaion, Forged weapons with a heart filled with anger. Righteous anger he had to admit, but anger none the less, and he knew no good would come of it. So he forbade her to ever forge again, and destroyed the weapons she had made.
As the years pressed on, the Dark Lord slowly expanded his rule, using his Schrilven Weaponry to defeat enemy nations, one after another, until he finally reached his old enemy, the Divine kingdom of Clairwynde. The Dark Empire and Clairwynde waged war for 10 long years, and over time, his Schrilven made weapons began to wear dull. Knowing that due to his mistreatment all his Schrilven blacksmiths had long since perished the Dark Lord was at a loss. It was then that one of his spies reported seeing a very old man and a young girl around the Schrilven Compound. Hope rose in the Dark Lord once more as he sent his soldiers yet again to capture the young girl, not caring for the old man as his reports indicated that the old man was sickly and would die soon anyway. The Soldiers snuck into the Schrilven Compound and murdered the old man in his bed. Kaion, who had been preparing her grandfather some herbal tea before he went to sleep entered the room and saw the blood, and recognized the weapon still portruding from his throat as one of the weapons her family had crafted, baring the sigil of Emperor Faust. She snuck down to the sub basement via the old waitstaff food elevator and took a lantern off of the wall, lighting it. She looked around until she found an Anvil and a hammer covered in an old cloth. Her old anvil from those ten years ago when she had promised never to forge again, but she felt that now was the time to break her oath. Robbed of the last person in life she cared for, the only thing left on her mind was revenge. She hid in the basement until the soldiers had left, then took the Anvil out to the mass grave of her family from the slaughter those years back. She also took out some wood, stone to create a firepit, a bucket of water, her Hammer and a very special metal she remembered from when she was a small girl that her father had paid much for. She called out to the spirits of her ancestors to aid her as she forged this weapon. She had decided on a sword. She could feel them watching as she lit the fires in the firepit and began to heat the metal. She carefully removed the heated metal from the fire and placed it on the anvil. Focusing her deepest anger, sadness, pain, rage, and hate, she pounded and pounded on the metal, forging and re forging it time and time again until she collapsed from exaustion. When she woke up the next day it was already getting dark, but she saw the finished blade sitting on the anvil, and could feel a terrible power radiating from it. She took it in her hand and examined it carefully, her mind wandering back to her kind, gentle grandfather whom had made her promise never to forge again. In his honor she named the blade "Oathbreaker" and over the next few days she put together what supplies she could, and using an old map, she set out for the Dark Lord's Castle. A spy saw her leave and hurried to inform his lord of the terrible sword the girl had forged. Emperor Faust was quick to order hs men, who had been searching the nearby towns to find and ambush the girl. However, with the terrible rage and power contained within the sword she slew them all, to a man.
The Emperor Laris Faust was concerned when he heard the reports from his spies about his men and how she was heading directly for his castle, and called in all his soldiers from around the area, even those that were on leave or off duty. They surrounded Kaion Schrilven at a small graveyard outside of a villiage, whose name is lost to us. The Dark Emperor poured his men into that graveyard and there Kaion stood, seething with rage and hate, the power of her terrible sword overwhelming all who would dare stand against her. But the Dark Emperor would not relent and poured in more and more soldiers, day after day. Even conscripting young men from neaby villiages and sending them after her until finally on the seventeenth day of the fighting her supplies ran out and Kaion Schrilven died, starving to death without so much as a single wound on her body.
Legend has it, her spirit, unable to rest, left this world for another and became a demon of power and fury, ever lusting for battle. The sword, and her body were never recovered. And the Dark Lord died soon after of mysterious causes. His Son, Emperor Hugh Faust, whose decendant rules our fair land of Echidna to this day, signed a peace treaty with Clairewynde and we have had a golden age of peace here in Aurel for the past 10000 Years.
Rebirth
Kaion was reborn after her death, not as someone else, but as herself. She awoke in a strange place, and felt different, much different then she had in the days she was a human, for she had been reborn as a Demon. She swore to find her way back to Aurel one day to make the person responsible pay for her untimely demise, but for now, she would simply live her life. One thing she noticed almost immidiately, is that her new body craved things she would have previously found unspeakable. Now however, she was more than willing to try them. After a bit of 'hands on experience' with a few victims, she soon found she liked the taste of flesh, and to her, the soul was as a fine wine.
The Netherworld Kaion had been reborn into was ruled by a capable man by the name of Overlord Katachi. It wasn't too long before he would hear of the antics of Kaion. The loud, pushy redheaded demoness had hardly tried to hide the fact she had been eating anyone she could get her hands on. As a matter of fact, one of the people she had devoured had been wearing a pair of earrings and a necklace she had rather liked, and so she had taken them, and enchanted them with special effects, putting them on herself, as they matched her eyes.
Shortly after, she was discovered by Overlord Katachi. She fought the overlord a number of times, until eventually she lost and was captured. Over time however, even Kaion's tiny shrivled little heart began to warm up to him, and the two would get married. Shortly after the wedding, Kaion would have a daughter, whom they would name Hikari. Hikari was always at her mother's side, and Kaion loved her very much.
Years later, Kaion would be pregnant again, this time giving birth to triplets, whom she would name Aina, Alessa, and Lella respectively. Katachi, however, had been informed by a seer that his children would cause his demise, and before Kaion's very eyes, he would murder Hikari, and send her newborn triplets into a vortex of space and time. Kaion flew into a rage, and even through she had barely recovered from giving birth, she took her weapon, got dressed and chased after him. They fought one final time and she tore him into bloody peices and ate him in revenge, taking his title of Overlord, and she has been a scourge opon the universe ever since. Her vassals began to hold her in awe, and many of them started to consider her to be a goddess.
One Thousand years later, her hands stained beyond any hope of redemption, she was given the title Goddess of Murder. She acheived the title opon the murder of the creation goddess, Diana, and devouring her soul. The soul of a goddess, to Kaion, was the best thing she'd ever eaten. The goddess of murder, with her Sword, Oathbreaker, and her Million Bladed Scythe, would then truly begin her mission. That mission? to find and snuff out every last speck of life in the universe, to take them all into herself and devour them all, sparing nobody.
