~~~Nexus City History~~~
Nexus City was built at the edge of a dense, tall, coastal forest and is truly a beautiful urban phenomenon. Its appearance is matched by the backdrop of majestic forests, vast bayside ocean, and a nearby mountain range which have helped shape the city to what it is today.
The climate these regions brought were of great importance, but they were also influential when it came to architectural designs as the vast majority of buildings have been built alongside the trees, coast, and mountainside and often incorporate many different elements of each.
The skyline is growing with various skyscrapers and they clearly show what they represent to the city itself. The quality of life is high in Nexus and it has attracted a lot of attention. Countless cultures have left their mark not just on the architecture, but also upon the city's identity. What historically was a city of few cultures has grown into a large melting pot and it's this that unites the 5 million people to this day.
However it wasn't always a great place. Before the year 2531AE, it was a rather unforgiving place where predator and prey lived in a very thin line of reasoning, but it was and still is the safest to be. It is here that Anthromorphs were created, and it is also here that unique laws were passed that would allow predator and prey alike to coexist with the fact that predation was always a lingering threat that would go unpunished in most circumstances, otherwise risk the potential extinction via world hunger of many species be it human or anthro. Relations were always a bit one sided but that changed with the intelligent and clever Dr Evelynn Swan who invented the Cloning Matrix that is used today. The introduction of such advanced medical technology allowed for predator and prey to finally coexist without much issue. So much so that over the years, the way of life had changed so dramatically that some may argue it is the start of a golden age that may never end. It's this multicultural identity that has truly allowed Nexus to leave its mark on the globe as the greatest city in the world. Hundreds of bistros, prey cafes, gastropubs, clubs, and sandwich bars offer a plethora of culinary choices and those who feel hungry for something else can enjoy the arcades, nature districts, tours of the regions, or one of the many other recreational venues such as the bay, entertainment district, or Nexus Park. Thanks to the creations at Skyway Genetics, the ability to clone anyone who has been injured or consumed has allowed many people around the world endless opportunities and so many advancments that the world will never be the same again. With numerous facilities all around the globe, world hunger, renewable energy, and overpopulation have all been resolved.
With such a unique city, it is guaranteed that one could meet all manner of unique people from all backgrounds. From common Humans, to unique anthros, or even mythic beings from anywhere such as the riverside, or the skyline.
~~~Landmarks of Nexus~~~
The Great Bay - This district is a small oceanside town where many citizens live a life of luxury near the bayside and with a great view. Several small shops and a major tourist hotspot, it is home to quite a few more amphibious anthromorph.
Nexus Park - Much like New York's Central Park district, Nexus Park is a massive forested area in the heart of Nexus City. A few tall trees have some neighborhoods in the canopy but for the most part it. is a major nature district where some of the City's much larger inhabitants reside. Also referred to as The Rainforest District, it is one of the larger regions of Nexus City.
The Square - The Square gets its name from the shape of the district on maps. It is encompasses most of the central region outside of Nexus Park much like a frame. Many apartments, smaller shops, and a few resturaunts line the square itself. It is also conviently located just down the street from NCU.
Nexus City University - One of the most prestigious colleges in the world, NCU is an ideal location that most people dream of attending. A one stop location for all your academic needs and one of the few in the world where all species are able to attend at little to no cost at all. Education of special skill sets or basics of survival are all taught here. And no other university in the world is as successful.
The Suburbs - Pretty Self explanatory, the suburbs are just on the edge of Nexus City where many people live. Nothing too special but it is a rather nice location.
The Underworks - Also referred to as the nocturnal district, it is a massive underground city region of Nexus where all manner of unique citizens can be found. Mostly inhabited by nocturnal based anthromorph or light sensitive species such as vampires, Kobolds, and such creatures. Despite it's name it has a relatively low crime rate and is actually one of the safest regions of Nexus despite it's inhabitants.
The Skyline - If you ever have to get from one place to another, the Skyline is the best way to do it. A network of interconnecting pathways between buildings that allows people to operate their vehicles or fly, or however they normally navigate withint the upper areas of Nexus City without the hassle of navigating the many streets. Also home to many flying types.
The Entertainment District - Also known as The Strip, the entertainment district is home to all typea of clubs, bars, arcades, theatres, and just about any other facility one could get access to for any form of fun. Be it physical or psychological. Many of Nexus City's unique Vore Clubs can be found here as well as filming studios. But it is also a home for more innocent forms of entertainment as well.
Skyway Labs - The facility that started it all, from Gene splicing that created Anthromorphs, The genetic restructuring of the Cloning Matrix, and the many unique Biomedical engineering that has changed the world as we know it. It is here where people go to volunteer to be part of all kinds of experiments to further medicine and science, and usually with great benefits. Originally an old abandoned hospital, it is now the largest medical campus in the world. The entirety of the city's sewer system runs through here where countless prey end up after being digested. The Cloning Matrix sifting through all the remains of digested prey, gathering DNA to make clones that while may not be exact copies, retain the mass majority of their memories and personalities. Thus ensuring the status quo is never disturbed. Unfortunately not everyone makes it through, but Skyway Genetics tries its best. However it is here where genetics is constantly being worked on such as cures for diseases, alterations of the DNA to better enhance people's capabilities, or even the creations of entirely new creatures altogether.
Riverside - The river that runs from the mountains, through Nexus City and Nexus Park leads all the way to The Great Bay. it is here where many riverside homes, harbors, and neighborhoods can be found. From the peaks of Nexus Mountain to the Caves of the Underworks. Riverside is crucial to the city's survival, providing clean water, energy, and a means to keep the city going.
The Grand Archive - Among the many libraries of the world, very few can stand the test of the grand archive. Less of a library, and more of a tower with seemingly limitless knowledge.
Epsilon Station - Just beyond the atmosphere, the largest relay station in the Galaxy where its main headquarters is located in Nexus City. A major connection point for the central hub of relay stations that all connect the universe togeter for travel.
Croakson Estate - The Croakson Estate is a marvel of architectural engineering. A massive mansion like complex built deep within the heart of Nexus Park just beyond the canopy town. It is home to the Croakson family. One of the wealthiest families in all of Nexus City. The Croakson were originally human till Dr Evelynn Swan helped in the genetic splicing that resulted in Anthromorphs. Currently, the Croakson Estate is home to a family of frog type Anthromorphs who own the biggest honey farm in the world. Rickart Croakson being the current owner of the estate, the facility open to the public.
Country Meadows - Country Meadows is the Nexus countryside where smaller towns, a few farms, and plenty of open field and hills can be found. This is home to most prey types such as rabbits, sheep, cows and such. But it's also home to a few preds such as foxes, weasles, wolves, snakes, and owls.
Nexus Mountainside - One of the more rural regions of Nexus City. The Mountainside is home to a few towns, a river that runs through out into the city and sea, as well as a forested region nearby. In some areas a bit further out, some would consider it the Boondocks of Nexus.
The Royal Approach - A stretch of land on Nexus City where royal families have homes away from homes. From intricate Villas and massive mansions, to towering castles and small luxury homes. The Royal Approach is where you'll find the wealthiest and generally most important individuals in the world.
Predation Zones - All throughout the city, there are sectors known as 'Predation Zones' which are marked and heavily designated with signs to ensure people know exactly where they are about to wander into. These zones are essentially legalized hunting grounds where anyone can snatch you up and eat you on the spot with or without your consent. Because of the nature of these areas, they tend to be a major hotspot for people who are either very curious, very desperate, or have little choice in the matter. While defending oneself isn't frowned upon, most preys find that it is better to allow consumption to happen. Those who are captured in these areas are expected to allow their predators to consume them and will be given an official pardon and compensation for any inconvenience they may face be it missed work time or otherwise.
