tl;dr: Citrine, but bee. due to her phenomenal incompetence as a worker, she was recently cast out of her hive, the greatest possible disgrace a honeybee can suffer. to accept exile is essentially tantamount to suicide, given how unlikely it is for a single bee to survive on their own in the wild. that grim fact is something Citrine understands full well... but the Queen's decree is law, giving the pitiful girl no choice but to accept that a shameful, inevitable death awaits her as punishment for her inadequacy.

bees inherently thrive on cooperation and unity; to band together for the greater good is simply in their nature. without a cause to devote herself to, Citrine has been rendered as dismal and useless as it gets, hopelessly drifting along with no honor and no home to return to. to die at this point is exactly what she feels she deserves, to the extent that she actively seeks to put an end to her misery-- preferably through a means that will at least grant her some purpose.
