tl;dr (ish): whenever the Pokemafia needs someone's lips loosened, so to speak, this is the guy they ask. squeezing information out of captives, punishing unruly employees, teaching would-be adversaries why they shouldn't tangle with the mob... Voxel does all that and more. the man was literally born with the perfect tools for the job; some Pokémon can handle a bit of lightning and some don't really mind poison, but it's rare to be resilient against both.

one might assume that it'd take a cold-blooded sadist to fill Voxel's position, but that isn't really the right way to describe him. perhaps it's because this particular profession wasn't exactly the thing he applied for; while he's definitely unscrupulous and came to the Don fully prepared to smash some faces, enjoying a good fight hardly equates to having the stomach to flat-out torture people. seeing his potential, however, the higher-ups arranged a means of convincing him to use his talents for their cruel purposes... and thus began the poor boy's downward spiral into depravity.

under the guise of a harmless little 'welcoming gift' from the mafia, the unwitting punk came into possession of some Pincurchin needles: little slivers charged with concentrated voltage that are harmful to most creatures, but exhilarating when used on an Electric-type. they're a bit too exhilarating to be considered safe, actually. or healthy. or legal. exactly as intended, Voxel grew addicted to the intense energy in no time, largely because the withdrawal symptoms are extraordinarily painful-- burning out his electrical organs to leave him listless and exhausted, barely able to perform basic functions. what else could he do but accept, then, when the Mafia offered him more needles with the stipulation that he take on the job they'd selected him for? if he just tunes it out, making others suffer isn't so unbearable, is it? not when he'll be the one suffering otherwise.

he tries not to think about it too hard, honestly. it can be kinda fun that way, and besides, he feels a lot better when he's allowed to forget just how much he hates himself.
