Varyell

Backstory first! It is a must:

I started life as a typical, cheerful English chap with a penchant for tea and good reading. By my twentieth year, my historical know-how and by fantasies only dreamed of I was given a grant by the well-to-do countess I will only refer to as 'Countess' or 'The Countess'. She held an interest in the occult and had heard of my many researches into the various religious fanatics from the East. Such as the Moors, the Hindu, and even as far to join a Dutch trader who made landing on Japan, as it were. Luckily I was with him, so I was not cut down.

































So here I was, in the middle of an Indian ruin with naught but my flintlock and a sword cane that was something of a family heirloom. It was such a nice cane too, but! I digress. I entered this Hindu ruin along some lush lands south of Nepal. She was interested in the snake motifs and wished some artifacts that were quite specific as to make me believe she'd sent others to find it. It was a harrowing journey, over pitfalls for thieves and around simple spike traps that were still working. I eventually even encountered a touch of the supernatural. The majority of my expedition fled from these serpentine women. I shot one and fended another off with my sword. Broke the scabbard of my cane though. A shame, it was vintage oak.

I busied myself reloading my flintlock and quested into the main chamber, where I encountered the Countess I'd been hired by. She wore a fine robe of some ancient cult, indeed, and wore it well. Though it was the fact I now saw her as half-woman and half-serpent that I felt a tinge of true fear. Though swallowing it down I was beset by minions, smaller and far less talkative 'naga' as I'd learn they were called. I wounded quite a few, though they would flee and more arrived. Eventually I was beaten down and weighed upon by coils of the serpent-women guardians. That was when the Countess calmly explained.

It was her designs to find someone like herself, and the months we'd spent talking before I left for this place left a mark on her. Originally I was to be nothing more than a sacrifice to ensure their wealth and lives. Then I was told that my expedition had already served that purpose, that I was to be gifted their view on the world, through their eyes. So, it is how I am here now. A fine, young English chap with a penchant for the occult, now a fine English naga with a penchant for the occult. It was how I came across portal rituals, you see. To make it here was a boon, as the ever-changing ways of my world left the occult behind. Bombs and bullet would see to that.

So! Now that I can gleefully cross time and space, I make it a point to enjoy finding out all I can about the strange and bizarre. Thus why I ended up here, at this 'Nexus' of all things. And why you're most likely hearing all of my life story as my lower half finishes it's work with you. I do hope you don't mind, it seems to be part of my nature, though I know for some here it's quite enjoyable!
