Appearance

A strong build covered in green skin with thick leafy fronds for hair. Often wears armor made from metal, yet styled to look like bones and decorated with tanned hide, teeth, and other mementos of the hunt.

Abilities and powers

A skilled marksman and proficient with all kinds of stabbing and slicing implements, Thornblade is a fierce hunter when he turns his mind to it. His sinewy flesh is notably stronger than most trained humanoids, though he lacks any sort of supernatural ability. He knows well enough how to use his ship's computer, but lacks the skills to fly the craft should the autopilot fail.

Background

Floran Species Official Lore
One would expect a race of sentient humanoid plants to be peaceful, nature-loving environmentalists – that presumption is what allows this hyper-aggressive tribal civilization to thrive. Unwitting explorers are prey of choice to the carnivorous Florans, who frequently salvage or reverse engineer the technology they bring to enable their colonization of the stars.

Introducing space travel to the primitive Florans had the undesired effect of Floran colonies spanning across star systems, each with their own customs and levels of aggression. Despite this, individual Florans have been known to split apart from their society to lead their own lives in isolation or in the solace of other races, at the cost of being cut off from the collective and considered enemies of all flora for good.

Though a unisex race, Floran culture values survival through reproduction and expansion over environmentalism or any perceived bond to Mother Nature. Funeral rituals and wars with rival factions are commonplace, though it remains unclear whether it’s out of conservation or simple tradition.

Their aggressive nature appears to be borne from a lack of a concept of non-plant life as opposed to outright contempt. Owing to their relatively young age as a species, this tenet dominates their culture and justifies their treatment of visiting races, though there are signs of some beginning to question this, implying that Floran individuals may not be inherently “evil” as previously thought, but that they are able to make peaceful societies that are able to live in harmony with the other non-plant races.

One of the small number of Florans who take to the stars in a life of... relative peace, Thornblade is an oddity even among their number. He tends to actively seek out other sentients, wanting to socialize with them and explore their civilizations rather than go by his race's instincts of devouring them. His stance and expressions belay curiosity more than hunger, which confuses the more civilized folk into allowing him to get close enough to explain his intentions.
Despite this, however, Thornblade is prone to violent outburst, generally relying on the local wildlife to sate the hunger for meat and violence that is integral to his race. And on occasion, if there is no suitable fauna, he may turn towards whatever sources of food are available. These incidents are rare, however, since Thornblade generally remembers to keep a ration of meats on him when he leaves the ship.

Notable Events and Relationships

While on his journey he was confused much about gender identifiers, given that Florans are unisex. Though he displays male traits and identifies closest with the male gender identity, someone (who has since been eaten) as a joke referred to him as a female. Thus he refers to himself, and most others as females. He will continue to do this until corrected.

Encountering the Novakid Xeradine on numerous occasions, Thornblade has found the bubbly gas thing's company enjoyable, in small portions at least. It probably helps her case that Novakids are made of plasma rather than meat, so even if things do go poorly she is much less delicious than most other traveling companions.

Was rescued twice by SkylerStormfeather. First from a high tech lock and second from hunger. He considers her a friend for the favor, even after he ate her. Thornblade keeps one of her feathers as a reminder should her ship's resurrection system have been online.

Notable Possessions

A broken Venus Blade, that Thornblade seeks to restore some day.
A single long flight feather plucked from SkylarStormfeather.

Locations frequented

-The far-flung systems of the galaxy, deep in the spiral arms.

-A small grassy moon that he's staked a claim in and built a cabin in. The few others who have decided to settle there (Mainly Glitch and Novakid) acknowledge it as his and thus pay rent when he bothers to check in. He maintains a teleporter link between there and his ship.
