In the yokai world, the things that give you influence and status are breeding and power; coming from a powerful line of yokai is to get you revered on its own, but pairing that with being powerful is what counts for more. Part of being powerful is not just physical power, but mental prowess… Without the latter, the former won’t get you very far.

The sheep youkai are all descendents of Faunus, Sheep was born into a prominent family. They were excited for the addition of a new daughter, but disappointed to find out how weak she was-- the weakest of all of her siblings. They reasoned it’d be fine; they’d train her to be an elegant lady, sharpen her wit and form her into a cunning maiden that many youkai lords or social high-ups would want as a wife, despite her physical weakness.

Unfortunately, Sheep was lacking in both physical and mental aptitude. Her family had many very prominent tutors attempting to instruct her on etiquette, history, political relations, as well as encouraging her to explore artistic endeavours (they tried cooking, since the young sheep seemed to be so fond of food, but she was terrible at it). After several years of trying and failing with the young miss, her tutors became fed up. The family was irritated, but decided it best to just hide Sheep away from the outside world-- they thought it’d be fine; they’d just pretend she died, which would be easy enough since the family lives in a secluded place away from most other youkai.

But through the grapevine, Sheep’s ineptitude and her family’s desperation to hide their youngest daughter’s ineptitude spread; the girl’s very existence was a stain on the clan’s name. It wasn’t long before they received notice from the Aries Council (the higher-ups that make most decisions for the betterment of the clan as a whole) that they needed to dispose of her. The task was given, and they had no choice but to obey, lest the entire family suffer...

When the time came, two of her cousins came to dispose of her-- the family figured it’d be easier that way. The two took her out to one of the forest, just outside of an expanse of plains that led to a cliffside, where they planned to slay her. However, the two started to bicker, and through their bickering, Sheep was able to discern their plan. Fearful, she took off running toward the forest’s edge.

Despite her portly size, it turned out that Sheep was actually quite fast. Her cousins pursued her, but it only made her more frantic to escape. She could hear them shouting behind her, but she just kept running until suddenly there was no more ground beneath her. She was falling. Falling.

Her pursuers stopped as they saw her hurdle over the cliff’s edge, assured that if the fall didn’t kill her, that ewe’s own stupidity would be the death of her. Somehow, though, this Sheep has survived all on her own thus-far. Who knows what messes and trouble she'll get herself into on her own...
