With a jersey covering her bra, one might even fail to realize the team is co-ed, thrown off by her aggressive playstyle and masculine voice; during the postgame handshake, it can take batted eyelashes and a tossed ponytail for other schools to realize they've been beaten by a girl.

But Rina's feminine side is stronger than her boyish grin and behavior might imply. In fact, coaxed properly, she can be downright ladylike. Around some, her voice softens (though never losing its raspy contralto); her competitive aggression gives way almost to submissiveness; her wide, confident stance, mirrored from male teammates, tightens into the closed posture of a girl at odds with her usual boyish image. That said, she's easily prodded back to her sporty, dominant self, especially around those meeker than her or if there's a challenge to win.

What never changes is her friendly attitude, even if she's sometimes prone to playful ribbing. Whether she's boyish or girly, Rina's just nice, the sort to flag you down after she's crushed you underpaw and offer helpful pointers as to how you might not lose so badly next time. Her "best-of-both-worlds" duality makes her a popular fantasy, though those who actually know her struggle to see her as anything but a friend. Rina, for her part, generally resists romance — though teammates tease her tendency to shift personalities around strong, dominant men.
