Morrow

"Shh, don't be scared... it'll feel good, okay? I promise you'll like it! Even if you think you won't, you'll see! They always do, always.~"

tl;dr: a once-human mycologist whose passion for her studies led her to meet quite the disturbing fate. the discovery of a rare new species of fungus, one that she believed capable of autonomy and possibly even sentience, would have been quite the find... if not for the fact that once its spores contaminated her body, they immediately hijacked it in a desperate attempt to propagate themselves. over the course of weeks, Morrow's mental and physical state degenerated as she helplessly succumbed to the toxins; by the end of it all, her personality had been wiped clean, replaced in its entirety by the nightmarish thing she'd uncovered.

the Morrow of today is no longer recognizable as that girl, though the fungus puppeting her dead body around has still been affected by its choice of host. in absorbing the consciousness of a human, the new Morrow gained some trace humanity of her own, and her brushes with civilized society have given her a tentative grasp on morality and emotion. the feral, instinctual need to spread herself and infect other creatures is perpetually at odds with her newfound desire to bond with them, and the fact that succumbing to the fungus means losing one's sense of self complicates things even further. simply standing in her presence can be a hazard, for those with a weak constitution. is it impossible, then, for her to find a companion without eventually losing them to the very thing she is?

she has her doubts, yet time and time again, Morrow still finds herself compelled to try. the risk of it, to her, is as exhilarating as it is heartbreaking... though her many victims, driven mad and braindead by her intoxicating spores, would likely disagree with that 'sweet' little sentiment of hers.

♡ fun and fucked up mushroom facts ♡

◦ since her eyes did not survive the initial degradation of her human shell, Morrow is blind in the most traditional sense. she instead perceives her surroundings through vibrations, as well as through the small quantity of spores that perpetually emanate from her skin and breath. these unique senses allow her a detailed visual of her surroundings up to about 30 feet, albeit without the benefit of color.

◦ Morrow's size changes depending on how nourished and hydrated she is! when she's hungry and dried out, she'll wither to about 5'6" and her figure becomes slightly more slender. when fully fed, she's roughly 7' tall and sports very generous curves (as pictured).

◦ she cultivates various other species of mushrooms on her own body! they have many uses, and she loves to experiment and see what flourishes. powerful toxins, hallucinogens, and sedatives are almost always stored somewhere easily accessible so that she can defend herself and easily subdue potential prey. she also enjoys growing the occasional culinary variety, to gift to people she likes.

◦ the native, sentient species that acts as her consciousness (the one sprouting from her head, naturally), dubbed the sinister jade-cap after its grim discovery, has aphrodesiac side-effects. being infected causes intense feelings of pleasure, further encouraging victims to succumb and surrender their bodies to the fungus. perversely, Morrow enjoys a similar degree of arousal from the act of propagating, and has a fascination with watching the afflicted as their condition worsens. even those she's fond of are not always exempt.

◦ the entire interior of her body has been replaced, repurposed, and altered, though it still retains the same basic structure as a human's. her stomach is lined with thin, tentacle-like fibers that wrap around her food, binding anything unruly and slowly leeching its life force. this process is certainly unnerving and will quickly exhaust even the most vivacious prey, but it is not painful and can't cause any lasting harm.

◦ her skin is always coated in a thin layer of clear slime, granting it an alluring, shimmering moisture. the mushroom on her head is protected by a much thicker and more viscous layer of this slime, and touching it is a quick way to get your hand soaked in sticky ooze. this is something of a defensive mechanism, since it's very sensitive, but Morrow won't mind as long as you touch it gently.

◦ the chances of becoming infected in her presence are variable. individuals that are healthy, large, strong-willed, or resistant against toxins will never be passively overcome by the fungus, but those who are frail, sickly, or weak of mind may find themselves afflicted simply by spending enough time close to her. inorganic creatures are, as one might expect, completely immune.

◦ to intentionally infect a target, Morrow will exhale a dense cloud of spores directly into their mouth and nose, usually via an intimate 'kiss of death'. unless her victim is extremely quick or proactive about covering up these vulnerable areas, inhaling these spores will condemn all but the most resilient. the process of losing one's self to the fungus, however, is still gradual, meaning that the victim can be saved if they receive treatment within a few days. if Morrow is especially determined, she can decrease this limited time frame through repeated exposure.

anatomy and reproduction of the sinister jade-cap (c. morrowcallidae)

infection //

any organic creature can serve as a host for the sinister jade-cap. however, it exhibits a notable preference for sapient hosts, as their complex mental faculties offer a variety of tools to increase the likelihood that the fungus will be able to successfully complete its reproductive cycle. humans are the most commonly chosen host.

the jade-cap’s spores are grown primarily in the respiratory tract of mature individuals, and are typically spread through the host creature’s breath as airborne particles. should a potential victim inhale a sufficient quantity of these spores, the fungus will take root in their lungs and begin the reproductive process, progressing rapidly to stage one of its development within 24 hours of initial exposure. immunocompromised individuals and those with respiratory damage are more susceptible to infection.

stage one //

once the jade-cap’s virulent spores embed themselves fully within the lungs of a new host, they quickly generate delicate tendrils of mycelium. these tendrils burrow shallowly into the surrounding flesh and begin to leech nutrients from the victim, which are immediately used to bolster the young new growth. symptoms at this stage are quite mundane and generally consist of a mild cough, sore throat, and a feeling of congestion in the chest— traits that are nearly indistinguishable from those of traditional respiratory infections, allowing the jade-cap to mask its presence and evade detection.

the mycelium is still very thin and fragile during this early phase. if the afflicted creature receives prompt treatment and medication, it can be purged from the body with relative ease, and the fungus will fail to propagate. however, if no treatment is administered within 48 hours after symptoms present themselves, the jade-cap’s development will proceed to stage two.

stage two //

at this stage, the jade-cap has established itself firmly within the host’s respiratory tract, and has absorbed enough energy to begin spreading beyond its original target area. tiny pieces of mycelium will detach from the still-growing fungus and enter the bloodstream through capillaries in the lungs, scattering themselves throughout the host’s body. stage one symptoms intensify during this period, and are usually accompanied by the addition of chills, nausea, and fatigue. the fungus will begin to congregate in the brain and greater nervous system, causing headaches that become increasingly severe over the following days.

treatment and elimination of the jade-cap is still possible at this stage, but traditional remedies and over-the-counter medication will no longer suffice. to make a full recovery and destroy the developed mycelium in its entirety, specialized respiratory care and anti-fungal drugs are now necessary. should the victim fail to receive this particular type of care, the jade-cap will progress to stage three of its reproductive cycle.

stage three //

the hallmark symptoms of the jade-cap’s presence only deign to reveal themselves after it has infiltrated the host’s nervous system. the fungus displays a remarkable level of cognizance, and will begin manipulating various areas of the brain via tendrils of mycelium in order to produce a desired reaction in the host. the headaches and respiratory distress typical of phases one and two will slowly subside, being replaced instead by feelings of dizziness and inebriation. the host may feel ‘hazy’ as the mycelium spreads and burrows into their neural tissue, experiencing blurred vision, impaired coordination, and a distinct lack of focus. fatigue increases dramatically during this phase, compelling the host to spend a great deal of time at rest, though no amount of sleep will alleviate or cure their exhaustion.

the most archetypal symptom, however, is an uncanny change in mood. the stress, discomfort, and misery of being critically ill will abruptly vanish from the victim’s behavior, and they will begin acting complacent and increasingly relaxed, exhibiting little fear regarding their condition. this happens invariably and in spite of their weakened state, and as a result, they are unlikely to pursue any further form of treatment or medical assistance.

once this stage is reached, the jade-cap’s infection has become virtually incurable. neurosurgery and chemotherapy are the only treatment options that grant any possibility of survival, and even then, total removal of the fungus is not guaranteed. progression to stage four will follow swiftly after the mood shifts begin, further decreasing the possibility of recovery.

stage four //

with its neural network fully embedded and tentative control over the host’s mental faculties established, the fungus can begin the longest and most complicated phase of its life cycle. the small pockets of mycelium that it previously spread throughout the host body have grown dramatically in size by this point, and now embark on the task of assimilating the surrounding tissues en masse. these are broken down by digestive enzymes, which are secreted by the mycelium tendrils and then absorbed directly into them; these tendrils then use the nutrients gleaned to multiply and fill in the empty space, concentrating in thick webs to provide support and maintain the overall shape of the consumed flesh.

though one might expect this process to be extremely painful for the victim, the jade-cap is clever enough to inhibit the prefrontal cortex, which is responsible for processing pain signals. as a result, the developing host feels absolutely no discomfort at this stage of infection, and will frequently cite this fact as proof that they are no longer ill. additionally, the fungus begins stimulating the brain’s hormonal pleasure centers, forcing a near-constant state of heightened arousal. in conjunction with the victim’s continued feelings of calmness and relaxation (as seen in stage three), this potent blend of positive emotions firmly encourages them to permit further propagation of the fungus throughout their body.

the mycelium will eventually consume and replace almost all of the host’s internal organs during this stage, a process that can potentially take several weeks to complete. the external layers of fat and skin, as well as the muscular and skeletal systems, are intentionally kept intact to enable continued mobility and perpetuate the illusion of good health. however, the skin will discolor over time without the aid of proper blood flow; to mitigate this deterioration, the host’s appetite will spike dramatically, providing additional critical nutrients to the jade-cap as its development reaches the final stage.

stage five //

by the end of the jade-cap’s reproductive cycle, the host has been systematically rendered down to a literal shell of their former self, albeit one that cannot fully maintain itself this late in its life. extremely vulnerable external organs, most notably the eyes, break down as areas inside the skull are populated and pseudo-replicated by the fungus. with the brain now wreathed in a thick layer of specialized mycelium, only its most rudimentary functions remain, and the tendrils surrounding it permeate so deep into the neural network that separating them in any capacity is impossible. however, the jade-cap’s innate intelligence is sufficient to compensate for the destroyed areas, and it will gradually fuse with and override the host’s consciousness and personality during this stage. once this process concludes, the victim is considered dead; while their body can still seem lively and may even imitate assimilated behaviors from its choice of host, it is now merely a puppet, controlled entirely by the fungus inhabiting it.

the jade-cap’s characteristic fruiting body will form within 72 hours after the host’s death. a concentrated mass of mycelium tendrils erupt from the top of the head with enough strength to pierce the skull, after which they will congregate around the area to form a heavy, voluminous mushroom cap. the cap is extremely dense and difficult to penetrate, serving as effective protection for the central nervous system, and perpetually secretes a viscous slime to maintain a moist environment and deter contact and injury. it is from the striking, vibrant green color of this mushroom that the jade-cap draws its name.

the mature form of this fungus is unique in its ability to accurately mimic a sentient, humanlike disposition following the death of its host, a facade that particularly successful individuals can often maintain for years. it is fully capable of utilizing the victim’s repurposed vocal cords and nervous system as its own, and as long as it receives adequate nutrition and moisture, it can near-indefinitely prevent its chosen host body from decaying. it uses the convincing veneer provided by this body to integrate into communities of similar creatures, upon which it can begin the reproductive cycle anew and continue to propagate its virulent species.

NOTE: your character will never be infected without your permission, and play of that sort is not required to interact with Morrow!

[ Ceru's back on her bullshit with some new existential horror! \o/ ]

Roleplay Preferences (Click here for explanation)

As Pred

Being PredBeing Prey Always/Love
+
--
Never/Dislike Morrow may want to make friends, but her body requires constant upkeep or it will start to decay. Some of the people she meets will inevitably end up feeding it. [ Pred-leaning. Exceptions will be made at my own discretion. ]
Soft Vore Always/Love
+
--
Never/Dislike Generally the only type of vore I'm interested in. This character is creepy, sure, but she isn't meant for graphic, gory content. Soft is where it's at. -v-
Digestion Always/Love
+
--
Never/Dislike Some of the infected prefer death over the terror of losing themselves, and Morrow is always content to grant that favor. ... sometimes, though, she's just hungry. (Melty/non-graphic digestion is heavily preferred.)
Fatality Always/Love
+
--
Never/Dislike If you're overtaken by the infection, the person you used to be will no longer exist, which is essentially a form of death. And of course, if you end up melted, that tends to kill people too. >v>;
Reforming Always/Love
+
--
Never/Dislike Never required, but I do like scenarios where my partner's character comes back! It doesn't really matter how; it facilitates further interaction and developing relationships, so I'll never take issue with it.
Endo Always/Love
+
--
Never/Dislike Morrow can siphon energy from her prey non-lethally while they're inside her, so this is actually a very likely outcome if you end up as her dinner! You'll be drained and exhausted after she's had her way with you, granted, but there's never any permanent damage. ... just don't let her get too fond of you, or she might not want to let you out. ❤
Oral Vore Always/Love
+
--
Never/Dislike My favorite, vanilla as that may be. :>
Unbirthing Always/Love
+
--
Never/Dislike ... but I really like this too. Don't have a ton of experience writing it, sadly, but Morrow can feed non-lethally just as well using this method. >//> (Private RP only, 'cause I'm shy.)
Anal Vore Always/Love
+
--
Never/Dislike I love intestines, but this type of vore usually isn't really my jam and I tend to prefer other types. I might be willing to try it, though, with the right person!
Breast Vore Always/Love
+
--
Never/Dislike Cleavage vore, specifically, would be the only option I'd consider here-- though it's not something I'm experienced with and I'm not terribly keen on it overall, so it's unlikely. Sorry.
Cooking Always/Love
+
--
Never/Dislike Not a big fan, and it wouldn't make much sense on this character anyway.
Food Related Always/Love
+
--
Never/Dislike If you really want to get some recipe-making going on, though, I am a fan of this. Morrow doesn't do a lot of food preparation herself, but she does grow edible mushrooms for a reason...
Rough Always/Love
+
--
Never/Dislike Unlikely, but plausible. Morrow doesn't like having to get violent, but if pushed into a corner or faced with a very unruly meal, she'll do what's necessary to subdue them.
Gentle Always/Love
+
--
Never/Dislike She's much more inclined to be tender, though, and will almost always sedate and entrance her prey-- that way, there's no real opportunity for them to resist her, and she can take her time as she pleases.
Sex Always/Love
+
--
Never/Dislike Morrow's form of reproduction doesn't involve 'sex', and she doesn't have your typical libido; she gets aroused by propagating with her spores instead. She'll still readily use her body to lure and trap people, though, which may include sex if her target is bold enough to ask for it. (Private RP only, and only with friends.)
Pain Always/Love
+
--
Never/Dislike The only "painful" thing she'll do is infect you, and that's only uncomfortable in the early stages, which present similarly to bronchitis or the flu. She usually goes out of her way to make sure her victims don't suffer, through both her gentle demeanor and liberal use of mind-altering spores.
Transformation Always/Love
+
--
Never/Dislike Wanna get shroomed? \o/ 'Cause you can absolutely get shroomed, if that's what you're into! There's a whole process for being infected and gradually transformed into a jade-cap like Morrow. While it is a mostly pleasurable transformation, particularly in the second half, it is something that's meant to be permanent within the context of the scene. By the end of it, your character won't be the same person anymore, so be warned! (Becoming a jade-cap will obviously be treated as non-canon and specific to our RP, unless you really want it to stick!)
Blood Always/Love
+
--
Never/Dislike Sometimes you'll cough up a little bit, if she hits you really hard with the infection, but otherwise don't expect much.
Scat Always/Love
+
--
Never/Dislike Hard no. Please do not even imply this, or any form of disposal for that matter, as it makes me very uncomfortable.
Watersports Always/Love
+
--
Never/Dislike Hard no, same as above.
Bondage Always/Love
+
--
Never/Dislike Oh, yes! She doesn't have ropes, per se, but her digestive tract is just full of little tentacles that will happily wrap you up. She can also produce them from other parts of her body, if someone needs to be tied up beforehand.
Magic Always/Love
+
--
Never/Dislike You could definitely say Morrow's a magic mushroom, if we're talking realism here, and some of the other mushrooms she can potentially use have undeniably supernatural effects! I'm also fine with my partner's character using their own magic, of course! Just don't god-mod or anything stupid like that.
Willing Always/Love
+
--
Never/Dislike Strong preference for this. It doesn't always have to be of your character's own volition, though! Aphrodisiacs are a hell of a drug, and she absolutely loves it when prey are so hot and bothered that they can't help crawling straight down her throat. The same goes for those she turns into one of her own kind; the infection is uncomfortable at first, yes, but all her victims end up enjoying it in the end... even if they're barely coherent enough to realize what's become of them.
Unwilling Always/Love
+
--
Never/Dislike Sometimes, however, she runs into someone who isn't quite so receptive to her various spores. It's sad when they struggle despite her best efforts to calm them, but, well... Morrow still has to eat. She often experiences resistance from the newly-infected, too, though that's just par for the course. It never lasts forever... they always come to like it eventually ❤
Micro/Macro Always/Love
+
--
Never/Dislike Pretty much any degree of size difference is loved! I'm not terribly interested in ultra-tiny prey, but as long as they're at least a mouthful, we're all good! If you aren't small by default but want a macro/micro scene, Morrow might have some very special mushrooms she could use...
Same Size Always/Love
+
--
Never/Dislike Same goes for this, really! Probably the more common outcome, given the default size of most characters... plus it's definitely nice to have an extra-filling meal. -v-
Male Partner Always/Love
+
--
Never/Dislike All genders are welcome!
Female Partner Always/Love
+
--
Never/Dislike
Herm Partner Always/Love
+
--
Never/Dislike
Human Partner Always/Love
+
--
Never/Dislike Human, demi, anthro-- they're all good by me! Morrow's species prefers to target humans, but that doesn't stop her from going after just about anything she can get her hands on.
Demi Partner Always/Love
+
--
Never/Dislike
Fur Partner Always/Love
+
--
Never/Dislike
Animal / Non-morphic Always/Love
+
--
Never/Dislike Not particularly interested in feral creatures, though, sorry! If they're sentient, then it's a big maybe. Non-sentient animals are a straight no.
Verbose Posts Always/Love
+
--
Never/Dislike Hi, I'm Ceru, and I never shut up. I love to write a whole lot! Posts may take a little while to write, but I pride myself on being able to provide lots of detail. :D
Quick Posts Always/Love
+
--
Never/Dislike I can do these from time to time, especially in casual public RPs, but I always end up getting carried away if I'm enjoying a scene. Please don't expect me to keep things concise. If short and sweet is what you're after, you're better off looking for other roleplay partners. Sorry!
Surprise Me Always/Love
+
--
Never/Dislike Unless we're friends, I'd rather you not do this. If we're planning on a serious scene, I like to at least discuss the outcome of a scene beforehand to make sure we're both getting what we want out of it!
Multi-Session Always/Love
+
--
Never/Dislike This is usually inevitable for most scenes due to the amount I enjoy writing. It's no trouble to put a scene on pause and continue it at a later time if need be! I can usually go for at least a few hours before needing to pause.
Whisper Always/Love
+
--
Never/Dislike Feel free to shoot me a whisper anytime! Please skip the "hi, how are you", though... if you want to RP, get to the point.
Public Always/Love
+
--
Never/Dislike I'm comfortable doing most shorter scenes in public, though if things get too heated or the posts get too long, I'll ask to move to private so the chatroom isn't disrupted by walls of text.
Private Always/Love
+
--
Never/Dislike This is always an option, I'm very happy keeping things private! Really long, ongoing, or serious scenes are definitely the sort of thing I would prefer doing privately.
Hunger Desperation Always/Love
+
--
Never/Dislike If she goes too long without proper nutrition, Morrow will eventually get to the point where she's frantic; she doesn't want her host body to decay, after all! If that means tackling the next person she sees and cramming them down her throat, so be it. This is one of the only situations in which she might be rougher, and skip straight past the part where she'd normally drug her prey.
Object Swallowing Always/Love
+
--
Never/Dislike Another favorite kink! Jewelry, valuables, and sentimental possessions, especially... things that, once they've been gulped down, will make the prey want to get them back at all costs. >v>
Emotion Focus Always/Love
+
--
Never/Dislike Yes! I adore when the narration of the roleplay puts a lot of emphasis on how the characters are thinking and feeling. Indulge me in these details and I'll be very grateful, and more likely to RP with you again in the future!
IC Approaches Always/Love
+
--
Never/Dislike Please do not do this, unless it's in public in the Vore Room while I'm active. Any other circumstance and I am liable to just straight-up ignore you.
Internal Conflict Always/Love
+
--
Never/Dislike Morrow is often at odds with herself, uncertain about whether to infect someone or befriend them. The temptation is always there, and her hunger can sometimes get the best of her, too... but she really does like people, at the end of the day, and doesn't want to be alone. I very much enjoy detailing the mental struggle of her situation, and I also like seeing others' similarly-conflicted reactions to what she is.
Drugging Always/Love
+
--
Never/Dislike This is her go-to. Not street drugs, obviously, but her various mushrooms can incapacitate prey in all sorts of ways. Paralyzing toxins, hallucinogens, aphrodisiacs, and strong sedatives are all par for the course with Morrow, and unless you're immune, you can expect her to use at least one of them if she's singled you out as her prey. (You may choose OOC which ones you'd like, of course!)
Feeding Always/Love
+
--
Never/Dislike Oh, yes! She'll be extremely pleased if you want to fill her up, and she's happy to eat just about anything... though I certainly have a fondness for characters being fed to Morrow by a third party, too. >//>;
Emetophilia Always/Love
+
--
Never/Dislike The sickness that accompanies being infected does cause nausea and congestion, so it might make your character vomit if that's something you fancy. Absolutely an optional thing to include, though!!
Mind Control Always/Love
+
--
Never/Dislike Morrow can't do this directly, but she comes pretty close! The effects of her mushrooms can be hypnotic and relaxing to the point where you just want to do whatever she says...
Asphyxiation Always/Love
+
--
Never/Dislike Most characters will end up coughing and gasping at least a little bit around Morrow at some point; it's just in the nature of what she is! I lean towards stuff like that, and the lack of air that comes from tight spaces, more than any actual strangulation.
Poison Always/Love
+
--
Never/Dislike You could probably consider the infection a form of poison... though if needed, she keeps toxic mushrooms on her body in case a target needs to be punished or subdued more harshly than usual. They can make you sick, paralyze you, or just straight-up drain the life from you if you're unlucky!
Chubby Always/Love
+
--
Never/Dislike YES! I adore pudgy, round, and soft characters of all sorts, they're an absolute favorite.
Long-Term Always/Love
+
--
Never/Dislike If a nice, filling prey has enough vitality and energy to feed Morrow for a long time, she's often inclined to keep them trapped deep in her guts until nearly every last drop of it's been squeezed out. Sometimes that can take days, or even weeks, or months... she doesn't mind one bit.
Multi-Prey Always/Love
+
--
Never/Dislike Two at max, generally; I'm not fond of going much further with it than that. I don't have a particular thirst for this, but I definitely don't mind it, either! It's more appealing to me when one prey is deeper down the digestive tract than the other (such as in full-tour), or stored in a different organ entirely (such as in UB).
Clean Full Tour Always/Love
+
--
Never/Dislike Ohhhh god. My ultimate weakness. ;///; If you let me do this and combine it will long-term endo, I will love you forever. Works a bit better with macro/micro, in my opinion, though I certainly won't limit it to just that. I love intestines so much, the thought of prey being wrapped up and squeezed through them agonizingly slow drives me nuts... and Morrow will love having that much more time to enjoy her meal ❤
Story / Interaction Always/Love
+
--
Never/Dislike I'm here to roleplay, and that doesn't always mean vore! I'm more than happy to just interact and get to know other characters so that Morrow can form bonds with them! Fetish RP is not mandatory for me.
Weight Gain Always/Love
+
--
Never/Dislike This goes hand in hand with my love for chub! I adore it when Morrow puts on at least a few pounds from her meals, so she can be just that much curvier and softer... though it is ultimately optional, if it's not your thing.
IRL Profile Pics Always/Love
+
--
Never/Dislike I'm only attracted to cartoons, lol.
Dominant Prey Always/Love
+
--
Never/Dislike I love when willing prey are a bit too enthusiastic, if you catch my drift! Sometimes the spores work better than intended, and they can't resist the allure of feeding themselves to her... or maybe your character is just that much of a degenerate, and doesn't even need to be drugged to be that eager? ;>
Swallowing Always/Love
+
--
Never/Dislike One of my favorite parts of a vore scene, hands-down. I really love it when there's some emphasis placed on this, and I always like to spend more than one post focusing on just the swallowing process so that I can take my time with the juicy details. @v@;
