'Oh, dear, so many casualties... ! No no, dear, don't put him in Expectant. No one is as good as dead when I'm around!'
Battlefields are messy places, no matter what era you choose. From the battlefields of the past, full of warriors slashing and bludgeoning each other to death, to the battlefields of the future, where orbital artillery and walking combat mecha decimate entire enemy forces in moments.
Wounded are often the greatest detriment to a fighting force, as well. An immense logistical system is set into place simply to get the wounded off of the battlefield and back to a place where they can be treated effectively, for combat medicine can only take one so far.
For battlefields lucky enough to host them, the field medic is, has always been, and will always likely be the first link in this chain. As soon as a soldier takes a bullet or a bayonet, the medic moves in. The wound is patched, the wounded removed from combat. Not all survive, but thanks to the medic, many do.
But, the field medics are human, like everyone else. They tire, physically, emotionally, and spiritually. They are not immune to being wounded and killed themselves, and despite the Geneva Conventions, some may target the medics first, unhindered by war crimes charges.
This is Mikuru's reason for existence.
Looking at you, you'll instantly notice that Mikuru is -not- a normal field medic. First and foremost, she stands eight feet and five inches tall. She is not a small girl, and this would seem quite detrimental in a combat situation, were she to worry about such things.
Secondly, Mikuru does not wear camouflage. She does not wear armor. She does not have a helmet, and she does not carry medical supplies. This, too, would seem like a detriment... but her status as a field medic is readily marked in no less than six places on her body. Enemies who shoot at her do so at their own discretion.
It's hard to say what the tall, pointy-eared medic really is. Some say she might be a demon... others, an angel. Some say she might be some sort of patron deity to the trauma medicine profession. Whatever Mikuru is, though, it's fairly obvious to those who see her in action that she isn't one to be trifled with while doing her work.
You see, Mikuru is a rather magical medic. If a patient has a sucking chest wound, she applies a bandage that quickly repairs the damage. A lost arm, or eye? Dressings will quicky reattach or restore injury. Stopped heart? A few light touches to the chest will restart it~ Blown into pieces? Tough, but not impossible... a bit of concentration and you're good as new.
If you'd not guessed it, Mikuru can heal almost any injury one might come across on any battlefield, past, present or future. A force she's allied herself with has very little to fear from death, and while this can be a powerfully motivating feeling, Mikuru scolds those who take their own lives for granted around her.
This large woman, however, does -not- follow the Geneva Conventions. Enemies are free to shoot at her all day, if they'd like... bullets either sink in or bounce off of her soft flesh, and larger weapons tend to simply knock her over, or daze her. If someone attacks her patients, however... that's another story. Mikuru is easily annoyed by this, and it's not uncommon to see her plumped up after a fight, a pile of weaponry next to her, blood staining the large syringe she carries with her...
She uses her own judgement when choosing sides, and she seems to generally ignore both physics and the flow of time when traveling.
Whatever she is, most people are glad to have her around.
----Mikuru's Abilities----
Healing - Mikuru is a magical medic... therefore, it makes sense that she'd be able to heal wounds. In fact, Mikuru-chan can fix pretty much anything, from papercuts to atomization. She's a good samaritan too, so as long as you're nice, you won't have to pay her back! That's better than some other healers around here...
"Trauma Center" - There's only one Mikuru-chan, and often a lot of patients. If she has a mass casualty situation, she may resort to putting the more troubled patients into her Trauma Center... which is a fancy name for stuffing them into her belly. This environment stabilizes them and slowly heals them, keeping them in a soft sleep until she's ready to pull them out and deal with them. Of course... this belly of hers can also be used to house enemies, or those who irritate her... or friends... or, someone on a whim... anyone, really.. ! Truth be told, Mikuru does like to eat, and having something living wriggling inside of her tummy does wonders for her morale! Usually, patients go through the skin, victims go through the mouth.
Tongue - Mikuru's lovely, lovely tongue heals light wounds with a single lick, and larger lacerations/injuries with multiple licks. This same tongue can also grasp and drag, generally pulling victims closer to her lips to be devoured.
Hair - Another dual-purpose 'tool'. Mikuru controls thick strands of her hair to allow her to deal with multiple patients without having to frantically run around. While she tends to a critical patient, her hair can apply bandages, dressings, and generally soothe and take care of minimally injured folks. The strands can also converge to wrap, snare, and trap or devour someone. Hmhm~
Bosom - Guess what? Multiple uses from this, as well! It's not uncommon for a patient to be contaminated in this day and age. Mikuru is immune to these things, herself, but her patients aren't... her breastmilk serves as a convenient decon wash, cleaning her patients up in seconds! Of course, they still have to scrub. Alternate uses include feeding her friends, and trapping/smothering folks. Patients through the skin, victims through the nipple, as usual. Though it's her whim, really~
Syringe - Mikuru's syringe is a combination of tool and weapon... one moment she might use it to give a patient a medication, the next she might use it to hose an enemy down with poison or corrosives. You never really know what might come out of here... ! Really! She can even fire needles as if it were a rifle! Some of them even explode! This syringe is not to be trifled with.
Bottom - Mikuru's butt really doesn't have any medical applications~! Well, okay, she could sit on someone to apply pressure to a wound... but, really, she just likes to sit on folks and smother them.
Nethers - Well, this is rare, buuuuut... if someone is DEAD dead... like, blown up, unrecoverable... Mikuru can reincarnate them and birth them. Like we said, very rare. I wouldn't expect it~
Medical Gear - Any gear she needs, she can call up... sometimes, she may distribute it to other medics, or to the patients themselves. She can also use this ability to conjure weaponry from medical supplies... nothing like a medic with a giant scalpel, or an overcharged pair of shock paddles from a defibrillator!
---More about Mikuru---
As said earlier, it's not really common knowledge, exactly what Mikuru is. Demon, angel, goddess... something else? Alien, maybe? Whatever she is, she likes to heal nice folks.
But, that doesn't mean she's always good. She can be a bit naughty, as well. Though never naughty to the injured, anyone who's in full health might find themselves struggling to free themselves from her confines in short order, if she likes them.
She leans towards smothering, first, followed by trapping with hair. Victims are usually absorbed, rather than digested... she prefers to add to her softness, rather than just gurgle someone away, but sometimes the feeling of a struggling victim ebbing away is too much to resist!
Other than her tendencies, she's a pleasant sort. She likes to read, and she likes to watch some animated shows. She also watches friends play games, though she's not good at them herself, and the controllers are usually too small besides.
She makes and collects dolls as a hobby, as well... many of them swathed artistically in bandages, as she's not very good at choosing fashions.
She's a rival to
Shichiyou. Mikuru heals for free, but is a bit slower at it, sometimes... whereas Shichiyou charges out the butt but can resurrect an entire field of dead with a simple snap.
