The year is 2170 AD, and the suburb that once housed 354 First Street has become a hellscape, a deserted nightmare. Many species have gone extinct, most plants have stopped growing, most residences have fallen into disuse. In a nearby city skyscrapers crumble and the sidewalk collapses. God knows what’s become of the rest of the planet. Of the few living things left, many are monstrous, desperate and hungry, taking whatever they can get for nourishment even if it means hearing the screams of the innocent in their nightmares.
But what of those that were monsters already? What of the nightmares of the present day, those who once walked the Nexus? What of the former residents of 354 First Street?
Madylin “Maddie” Sychyov Main alt: Maddie_Scientist
Given her skill set, it’s no surprise that Maddie’s been able to live to the ripe old age of 180-something, though most of her is held together with sheets of metal molded to her decaying skin. Her once omnipresent green goggles are gone, replaced with similarly-colored bionic eyes. Though her upgrades keep her preserved, she’s no longer capable of moving most of her body, the power cells that fuel her can only keep her mobile from the neck up.
Perhaps more importantly, her demeanor has changed, as is her intellect. 100-odd years of slowly encroaching dementia have left her cantankerous and ill-tempered, her gleeful zest for death replaced with a cynical, survivalist philosophy in the wake of the final breakdown of CLONR. Her aggressive need for superiority hasn’t left, though, and she resents being taken care of by her daughter.
Oh, yeah, did I mention she has a daughter now?
Amelia Sychyov
Amelia is in many ways her mother’s daughter—the short blond hair, the lab coat (considering how ratty it is it may be the same one), and a pair of familiar blue goggles ever-present on her face. Unlike Maddie, though, who’s selfish to the point of apathy, Amelia’s forcing into dormancy some serious humanism that gives her a bit of trouble cooking up people for her mother and herself when the situation calls for it. She occasionally desires to try and make it on her own, abandoning Maddie to rot. Unfortunately for her, it’s that same humanistic streak that prevents her from knowingly leaving her own mother to die.
She’s also prone to feeling lonely, and will often try to talk to her meals as she butchers and cooks them, desiring any means of human contact. Of course, she gets lonely in…other…ways, too, and will just as soon fuck her dinner as ask it how the weather’s been if the mood takes her.
The Beast Main alt: The_Beast
The Beast’s lifespan was not something Maddie deliberately gifted him with, nor is it something the Beast had expected to deal with. He’s long since broken free of the house, leaving a crater by its side, and now wanders the Earth, feeling sorry for himself and killing and eating any passersby.
So basically the same as he ever was except far, far thinner due to the lack of readily available food. You can practically see his ribs.
Seymour Main alt: Seymour_
Seymour’s long since become fertilizer, but his legacy lives on. The area surrounding the house is dotted with his off-spring, who over time have grown far larger than he ever dreamed at about six stories high. Not relying exclusively on animals for nourishment, they’re pretty much thriving, though sooner or later the lack of nutrients in the soil is gonna catch up to them.
Sahviah Main alt: Sahviah
More than achieving full succubushood, Sahviah has ascended to a full-on demon in the past century and a half, and it’s done a real number on her appearance, transforming her from a devilish Maddie-lookalike to a massive Lovecraftian horror. (Thankfully, though, she can shapeshift.)
Now able to feel and think on a higher emotional level, Sahviah’s turned out much like her clone-sister: excitable, self-serving and sadistic, enjoying the taste of human flesh as much as the taste of human soul. She spends her time teleporting across the world, finding new people to mess with, mess around with, and devour.
Pyre Main alt: Pyre
Free from the prospect of her existence having any social repercussions in the new order of things, Pyre’s given up on hiding from the human world, abandoned Maddie, and started a massive coven in the decaying remains of a subway system. Her hundreds of followers, all having been “made” by her, are unable to be anything but loyal whether they want to be or not, and regularly go out to find new meals for her.
Unfortunately, not having to do much in the way of planning and scheming is slowly driving her insane, her calculating demeanor and unburdened intellect useless in a society where she immediately gets anything she asks for.
Lakar Main alt: Lakar
Lakar swiftly became a broken man. After managing to feed on a handful of suicidal people in the immediate wake of the apocalypse, he quickly found himself forced to compromise his principals and feed on the unwilling if he wanted to keep living himself. Unable to deal with the guilt, he transversed to the nearest mountain range and became a hermit, taking down what remained of the local wildlife in a last-ditch effort to stay alive. It worked well enough for a while, but these days his species’ survival instinct has overtaken him, forcing him into a constant state of ravenous hunger.
The Blob Main alt: The_Blob
The Blob began developing a tolerance for the cold, and Maddie--not being sure what else to do with him--slipped him in a rocket and shot him into space.
He's the moon now.
The plan could've been thought through a bit better.
