It’s not easy being a catgirl at Maru’s. Something about them drives people wild — and when one wears as little as Kyaru, just walking back to the kitchen is enough to attract nearly every eye in the restaurant. Nor, for that matter, is everyone happy with just an eyeful: walking too close to a table is a good way to get groped, or worse — as past Maru’s catgirls would tell you, had they not long ago joined the menu themselves.

The skimpy getup wasn’t her choice — she nearly walked out on Day 1, when she realized there were no other outfits available to pick — but why Kyaru sticks around is anyone’s guess. She certainly seems miserable: she’s almost always pouting, complaining to anyone in earshot about the filthier guests, and giving the handsy customers a free earful with their meal. It’s not quite in the spirit of things, but the regulars get a kick out of it, which is probably why she hasn’t yet joined her predecessors in the sewers: so far, they’ve found her more fun to toy with.

Watch her long enough, though, and you might notice some incongruities in her behavior. The way her tail curls with excitement when those handsy customers walk in, for example, or how she keeps “accidentally” getting close enough to be groped when she really should know better. It’s almost as if she likes it…but like it or not, Maru’s is a bad, bad place for a catgirl to draw attention.
