In the tales of the sea, rarely does the historical context branch out beyond the terrors of legend, unless those branches themselves manage to mark themselves as something noteworthy.

An ideal case-in-point lies in the sole child to the infamous undersea tyrant Laedi. Most sailors haven't heard of the child to the Lady, and those that have can generally recite only a line or two from old seadog songs used to spook those still getting their sealegs on their first few voyages. ( "...burning sands stay the Lady from land, but always fear her fury's reach, the Child's hand." ) Given the dark heritage that is laid upon her, Krestra is marred with disdain and hesitation out of the cautious whom expect to see the destructive side of her mother shining through her.

Now, one shouldn't get the impression that she doesn't have a mean streak like a shark in bloody water, but that vindictiveness that Laedi displays against mankind to seafolk and everything between seems to be vacant in the younger generation of the Durkvater linage. Even without this passionate trait of her mother's, Krestra shouldn't be one confused for gentle. She delights in her size and strength ( Not of the 'voluptous' build as her mother, but still every bit of a mini-macro! ) over those smaller than her, and considering the one who raised her, it shouldn't be a surprise that she is cruel to a nigh-level of psychosis. That being said, Krestra is with a sense of control that her mother lacks. Friends, though rare, do exist in the young Octopaliken's life. Just don't get your hopes up that you're going to be one of them.
