A History
Daershenibikidar was born upon the world of Toril, long ago in a cave system to the far north of Cormyr, relatively close to Nesme. His father, a human, fell in love with a copper dragoness who'd taken on a human form. Despite spurning most of his advances, eventually the dragoness became curious as to what exactly he thought might come of their union. Her answer came in the form of an egg, an egg that while small, contained something that would change her world forever. His father, who died long before his egg hatched, spent his final years with the love of his life, protecting her lair as best he could and doting on her hand and foot. She was used to being pampered, doted upon, and over all treated with an almost reverent manner.. and she was not at all ready for what came out of that egg.
A few years after his fathers' death, of natural causes, the egg that held him felt flimsy.. weak, and he would chip his way through into the wide world. His first sight was that of his mothers' gigantic eye staring down through the crack in his eggshell, his first scent the thick coppery taste of her fresh kill awaiting her hatchlings' hunger, and his first thought.. "..More." . More of what, he didn't know.. but he knew this couldn't be the summation of his existence.. a 'tiny' cave with a narcissistic mother who would soon demand more of him than should ever be requested of a child. He emerged from his egg, staunchly silent even as he crawled over to the fresh kill, before he would eat while he considered what he would do with his life.
After several clouded and mysterious years, the cave was empty of its single hatchling.. and Cormyr would be visited by a 'beast' that became a Legend. Appearing in little more than his own grandeur and a tiny bracelet upon his right wrist that matched the equally tiny amulet he wore, Daershenibikidar walked right up to the very gates of the city in the face of thousands of bristling guardsmen and their many crossbows, unconcerned and completely calm. He stood well taller than most of the human guardsmen, for their plated helms barely reached up to his stomach and yet despite that fact; he gave each of them a courteous nod and made sure to keep his hands folded neatly behind his back. His body seemed to radiate a sense of calm that pierced the din of the nervous guardsmens' minds, and they would relax.. even so far as to let him walk right into the city as if such things were perfectly normal. When the Captain of the Guard saw the "beast" enter his city, he would draw his weapon and command him to halt.. and to his small surprise, the dragonkin did as he was asked. Nervously, he would ask, .."You.. Dragon.. What is your business here?" . He had to keep his nerve, he'd think to himself; all of his men were watching him and he must make sure they knew he would not shirk his duty.. even in the face of a dragon . The dragon then spoke, in perfectly clear Common, a response that literally caused the poor Captain to faint in sheer shock.
"I come to learn the ways of the Monk, of humility and honor, and I have come here to seek my teachings."
Humility, Honor, Integrity and Loyalty. Tools for the Honorable, in his mind, Tools for those who would seek to bring Justice upon this world. And so, he would go from monastery to monastery, cathedral to tiny hovel; expanding his knowledge of the ideological life of a Monk and practising with the best and brightest humankind had to offer. He was well received by most of his mentors, though a few had the understandable concerns of teaching a copper dragon stemming from both hesitant fear and outright differences in sizes, yet he learned all they had to offer before he was summoned forth to Quell a renegade dragon from the North who had begun terrorizing the human settlements in the region. He set forth, fully intent to stop this heinous act of war... Even if that meant stopping one of his own. He could never of known how accurate he was. For the dragon in question was someone he hadn't seen in years.. Though he would never forget that looming eye staring at him through his eggshell.
