Once, Brian was a thief, determined to pay for nothing he couldn't take for free. Goods, entertainment, clothes and food, on top of being quite literally a penny pincher all his own. He wasn't the best at it, sure. There were plenty of times he'd be caught red handed, and sometimes he'd even be caught period - but any trouble he got into, he knew how to get out of it. Like any rogue in this business though, that kind of luck never lasts forever, and Brian would be forced to learn that the hard way.

In looking for some dinner for later that night, Brian stumbled across Sitrus Ranch. He'd heard about this place, and the unique treat that was their cattle - rather than straight up digesting, the Mareep would liquify into a sentient, Slime-like state, remaining whole in their owner's stomach for days if not weeks at a time, and providing nourishment and entertainment all the while. If he could take one of those home, he'd never have to worry about food again! Regrettably for him, he'd find himself tangled in their fur when he tried to grip one, until he was found by the Flaaffy of the flock, who spared no hesitation in devouring him.

When he next came to, Brian found himself encased in an egg, missing quite a few of his years and sporting a few extra features. Effectively, hubris had made him a young Mareep boy. And despite the remaining human traits in him, he was now legally nothing more than livestock, and was domesticated and raised as such by his new Flaaffy owner. In one last stroke of irony, he was trained as a roaming advertisement of sorts, offering himself as a sampler of the ranch's goods - effectively becoming the very free food he had originally hoped to steal. Needless to say, he would switch hands as a pet quite a lot, and being incentivised to massage people's stomachs from the inside as a barely solid glob would become a very familiar sensation.
