Personality It takes a certain type of person to immerse themselves in a world apart from their own, discarding the everyday for rather more unknown elements. Once upon a time these would've been called adventurers, explorers and generally those afflicted by wander-lust, but now? Miss Caruthers just pops her pills and lies back in her favourite chair to travel to worlds as mundane and yet disturbing as a mind might fathom.

While it might pay the bills – unlike certain other pills – when taken in turn with her writings, ultimately she spends as much time in the the drugged and transverse state as she does in the realm she was born and ultimately dependant upon. Some, knowing that their body is virtually helpless and at risk while they're off exploring the 'verses might become paranoid, distorting their artificial works with fears for their lives dependency, that isn't a state Bleniki falls into.

Instead, her interactions within the 'verses are quite normal, treating them as though she might her normal life – albeit with a rather reduced if still existent degree of respect for her own safety and well-being, as her body is all she has until the end of her drug induced stream. After all, what better way to weave ones self into experiences and a story to write about than with a smile and a pleasant disposition?


Background In a world open to the universe, what is there to truly encompass the minds of those who keep it running? When ones co-worker might be a migrant from Alpha-Centauri one day and the next a genetically engineered creature of mythology on leave from a local film company. Physical travel is too costly, it takes too long and there is only so many places a single person can be in at once. There's a simple answer to this after all, why not pay someone else to experience it for you – then send all the lovelies back home in your format of choice? It avoids such various issues as time, higher prices, delays and those minor quibbles of grievous bodily harm and mental trauma.

Originally, a series of correspondents stretching across the far reaches of physical travel were enough to suffice for a wide variety of experiences, but the usual problems of physical bodies extended to these, especially in first-contact situations where the correspondent might not be given time to form an article or even a summary for dispatch before they found themselves brutally slain. This tended to create the more exciting – and well selling articles into an unfortunate rarity with unpleasant implications for profit margins.

In place of the standard physical relocation, a handful of publishers within what was once the Commonwealth funded research into what could be termed more metaphysical processes, moving the mind in place of the body. Where initial tests could be intensely traumatic for the participant as they found themselves freed of the physical or in less severe cases, displaced in bodily terms of another plane of being. With refinement, the 'Transverse' pills found themselves slipping into the hands of volunteers for a rather appreciable sum of payment, in return for the write-ups of their experiences while their mind was elsewhere, with the option to transfer mental logs of the events at their discretion for a slight monetary bonus.
