Aulii

NOTE: Aulii is TANGIBLE. Ergo she is SOLID and can be TOUCHED. She cannot pass through solid material. I understand it’s counterintuitive for a ghost and am very accustomed to his misunderstanding. However, if you indicate you believe she /isn’t/ solid, it does make for a poor first impression, as it makes it painfully obvious either you didn’t read this profile even a little or did not care.

When spirits rise from the hereafter, it is known that there is some bad mojo afoot. It doesn’t matter if the spirit has suffered a horrifying death, caused one, or simply wants a bit of company before passing on—one way or another, something has happened that was so terrible that the willpower to overcome it (or succumb to it) has shattered the bindings of the mundane. In any event, the disturbed spirit may cause all sorts of mayhem either until its needs are met or, in worse cases, until the end of time.

…or so you may believe.

And then there’s ghosts like Aulii, who subscribe to the philosophy that you’re only as dead as you feel. Does she have any unfinished business, or violent memories keeping her on this plane of existence? None to her memory. Truth is, se doesn’t remember why she died or much of her life to begin with, so she doesn’t really miss much. Aulii is perfectly content to try to pick up life just where it left off…now if only it were so simple.

Her Story:

Indeed, Aulii doesn’t quite remember much about the circumstances of her death, or even what her life was like. She’s been dead for so long that it hardly even seems to matter to her, really. She remembers being a student then, attempting to become a doctor or something. She remembered having a big sister who she loved, and is the only thing she truly misses from her past life. She doesn’t remember their name, only the feeling of warmth and protection a big sister could provide.

Her first clear memory was waking up in a school gymnasium. She remembered falling, her neck aching in pain, and a chill leaving the air. She was alone, and confused. She didn’t even know she was dead until she scared the bajesus out of the janitor a couple hours of wandering later. Since then, she has been wandering alone, taking care of herself (it’s not hard, she doesn’t need much, mind.). She has met other ghosts and supernatural beings, and while in general they terrify her beyond all reason, she has managed to piece together some semblance of understanding on why she’s here.

In short, she’s not “supposed” to be dead. Something went horribly, horribly “wrong”. It is as if her life was taken by some kind of glitch in the system, the same glitch that stole away with her memories. Worse yet, no one has ever been able to remember Aulii either, nor has any angel been able to confirm she was ever alive to begin with. As long as this mystery remains unsolved, she’s stuck here.

But that’s not necessarily a /bad/ thing. Aulii is perfectly content to stay in the mortal plane and try to integrate into society. It’s…not gone very well. She tries though, she does try.

Aulii the Ghost:

Aulii sucks at being a ghost. She really, really, /really/ sucks at being a ghost.

Not once in all her afteryears has she managed to master such basics as “turning invisible” or “passing through objects”. Even though she lacks legs, she can’t even fly worth a damn more than a couple feet off the ground. No, when she wants to break into a place, she has to use the door or climb in through a window like everyone else.

This is not to say she feels quite the same as a normal girl. She is oddly warm to the touch (a curious trait, as ghosts are often chilly), but the resemblance ends there. Aulii is made of a squishy, stretchy, soft, but very much SOLID ectoplasm material of seemingly infinite durability. This is not to say that she acts like she is invulnerable by any regard. On the contrary, Aulii is /terrified/ of painful things, and often forgets that she’s already dead. It’s still unknown if her sensing pain is entirely psychosomatic, but she’s a timid soul when it comes to anything that might hurt. Having said that, she can be (and has) be put through a lot of abuse. One time she got tangled up in a cotton candy machine and served to a young girl hidden amidst a sugary treat. Several hours later she made things awkward for everyone when she emerged, gasping, from the other end of the young lady’s digestive tract.

There are a few things she /can/ do, however.
>Possession: Aulii can possess people in a very awkward way. She has to physically cram herself into their ear, upon which she has control over their body as their conscious takes a backseat. Bear in mind, however, Aulii is not accustomed to mortal sensations. When possessing someone, eveythingng she feels –pain, hunger, any effects from hormones—are felt at over 50 times the magnitude than she is used to. Can she possess objects as well? ….yes, in theory. She has no idea how she can possess objects, but she’s done it on accident a couple times. One time she was stuck being a chair for a solid week.
>Banshee Scream: Aulii has a really hard time controlling her supernatural screaming power. She has to be genuinely upset about something, often if someone has her crying…and then she can’t /not/ make this happen. Glass shatters, doors are blown off their hinges, and often the shockwave leaves Aulii buried in her own crater.
>…and then there’s good old-fashioned eating people alive. Yes, she can do it, and she’s a lot better at it than she gives herself credit for. Aulii’s incredibly light weight won’t make her a champion wrestler, but once she’s got her jaws around someone even she isn’t fully aware of what she can do. Often she is content to just pass people through her spectral gastrointestinal tract, but if that isn’t enough, she can trap them for far longer. She recently learned a “trick” (so she puts it) in which she traps the victim in a pocket dimension stomach for lengthly periods. It has the side effect of putting the victim’s face on display on her body, like a tattoo. This is handy for if she needs to eat multiple people, both because it doesn't weigh her down and terrifyingly puts it on display that she ate all of your friends.

Aulii the Person:

As far as ghosts go, you could go a lot worse than Aulii. She’s completely harmless, lacking in malice towards any mortal life. She has a mischief streak a mile long, however, a sensation that even she can’t explain. She feels it like a basic instinct to cause trouble in the night, which does seem to have a visible effect on her normally sweet demeanor. For the most part, she can be regarded as a sweet, fun-loving, optimistic youth no different from a living one.
