Traditionally, sorcerers are individuals who are born with the ability to manipulate magic and engage in wondrous thaumaturgy. Their very souls are in-tune with the arcane brilliance of the world from the moment they breathe life, drawing their power naturally from ley-lines, gods, or some other outside source. This, in turn, limits the power of a sorcerer; they can only be as powerful as the source they draw from, ensuring that no one individual becomes too powerful and dangerous for their own good.
But what if there existed a sorcerer with no limit? A sorcerer whom possessed some alternate font of magic, giving them infinite and unknowable power? Well, surprise: its_clive_bitch.

At a young age, Clive's power became quite clear to his family. His capabilities were as simple as imagination; the second he focused on something and willed it to happen or exist, then it was so. His abilities quickly pushed the boundaries of what was known to be possible according to the laws of magic, and because of this, his family was understandably frightened. They knew plenty of people would have interest with such an incredibly powerful boy and seek to take him away from them, and they were further afraid that he might kill himself with his own strength. And so they developed a flawless plan; to hide away their prized child, and to dissuade him from using his abilities. They built a cage in the form of a magnificent chamber in their manor where he had all the luxuries a child could want, and took great care to educate him about the world. Their 'education,' of course, was specifically tailored to their wishes; in addition to history and language, he was given an extensive lesson in magic. They told him horrorific tales of sorcerers and magicians who perished from their lack of control, and fabricated whole worlds that were brought to an end from the wicked practice of the arcane. And, just to be certain Clive would not have a sliver of curiosity left in his mind, they staged an "accident" that caused him to lose his eye- a tragedy they managed to blame on the dangers of his evil, evil magic.

Drastic (and vile) as their actions may have been, they certainly had the desired affect. Clive developed an intense and inescapable anxiety, and would never use his magic for even the most mundane tasks. Forever locked in his room, he spent his days reading books that his family deemed appropriate for him, and studying aspects of the world that did not mention the presence of magic. As days turned into months, and months into years, his life remained largely the unchanged; until roughly his twentieth year. The usual servant who would come to his chamber to bring him breakfast in the morning did not appear, nor did his mother or father to give him his morning lessons. At around noon, he grew afraid that he was fully trapped in his room, or that something terrible had happened to his family. After much struggling, Clive managed to break down his door to find a perplexing site- all around him were mounds of ashes, and the charred, smoking remains of what used to be his family's mansion. In the middle of the blaze stood the square structure of his room; its walls having been fire-proofed years ago when it was first constructed. The mystery of what brought down his home is one that would never be known to Clive, but with the death of one era comes the birth of another. As he stepped foot into the outside world for the first time of his life and felt the sun touch his pale skin, his feeling of terror was momentarily replaced with one of wonder. The world he lived in was not the dull, horrifying place his parents had painted for him; but rather a world that was lush, alive, and most stunningly, filled with magic.

Today, Clive still harbors a great deal of anxiety and trauma regarding his arcane talent, but he has learned to have more of an understanding of its ambiguous nature. He understands that magic is not innately a tool for destruction, and has even begun to use it for minor acts of prestidigitation, such as levitating books or tea cups. It is unlikely one would ever see him perform more impressive feats unless they are a close friend (or somehow manage to persuade him). His personality fits that of a typical introvert; he is a very shy, quiet, and soft-spoken individual. His years of being home-bound have given him a deep passion for reading a learning, and he has thorough knowledge of many topics at the expense of having very little "street smarts." Gullible and cowardly, it is very easy to lead him on or intimidate him. Clive rarely argues with others if they are set in their beliefs (no matter how wrong they may be), nor does he use his magic to defend himself unless he is certain he is in a life or death scenario.
