Since people seem to not be seeing this, Zhai's gender is ALWAYS up for debate!




Backstory

Meet Zhai Vhorkuli, a simple alchemist who lives deep in the woods. Or at least, that’s what he appears to be. You see, there’s a reason he has so little social interaction. He’s wanted just about everywhere, by every bad guy and good guy with any power at all. But for all the wrong reasons, he is a hero, an assassin Who serves good and fights the right fights for pure reasons. But in the eyes of the law, he is an overactive vigilante who takes justice into his own hands far too much. Killing even petty criminals to get his point across. In the eyes of evil, he is a traitorous scum who is unworthy of licking the dirt off the boots of a peasant. But this is a little too far ahead, for this to make sense, we need to look back, 46 years ago now.

When he was nothing but an egg in a small village ruled by a lord named Jhorvaak Khanvhorli( Your-vv-ack Kaan-vo-lee ). He was abandoned by his mother, who could not afford to care for him, at Jhorvaak’s doorstep. Jhorvaak, being an anthropomorphic snake, had a sort of sympathy for fellow reptiles like Zhai, and took the unborn lizard in. For days he paid to have Zhai’s egg studied to discover what kind of lizard Zhai was destined to be, and for all his efforts, the tests failed miserably. So miserably that the best of the tests came back saying he was going to be some kind of sparrow. So, Jhorvaak waited for months on end and watched Zhai’s egg incubate. Accepting the fact that he would simply need to wait and watch. After close to a year, when he’d all but given up hope of Zhai hatching, it happened right before his eyes.

When he saw Zhai, he was probably the strangest looking lizard hatchling he’d seen. And there was a reason for it. He was a mix of two species of extremely dangerous lizards. A Komodo Dragon and Malayan Water Monitor. Jhorvaak, unable to tell what Zhai was other than an anthro, sought out Zhai’s mother. Eventually having her arrested and brought before him, he interrogated her for the knowledge of what Zhai’s father was. After only moments of torture, she cracked, telling him that Zhai was bound to be a born killer, her being a Malayan Water Monitor, and his father being a feral Komodo Dragon. She explained that she had gone out looking for some animals to hunt and sell, when she was taken by surprise by a rather intelligent feral Komodo Dragon.

The only reason she lived was because she traded her life for being his sex slave. And she’d only just gotten away when she realized she was pregnant. She begged Jhorvaak to kill Zhai, knowing how powerful and unstoppable someone like him could become. But Jhorvaak wouldn’t have it, he knew opportunity when he saw it. Zhai’s mother desperately tried to stop the snake, fighting with what little strength and skill she had against him. The only thing she accomplished was her death at Jhorvaak’s hands. Jhorvaak then ordered that his father was hunted down and killed to ensure no one else knew of him. After that, he waited for Zhai to grow to the age of five. Then he thrust him into the hands of the greatest minds in combat of that time.

Ordering them to relentlessly train Zhai to be an unstoppable killing machine capable of slaying whole armies. But there was a catch, he had to have weaknesses, ones that made him possible to control, to own. Like a pet. The military was at first baffled as to how they would make sure the greatest killing machine of the century was going to be so flawed that he could be owned by someone, even drawn in by a leash only his owner would have especially seeing as how this was a one shot thing, what was done to him was done. No taking it back. So, after a few months of thinking and studying how he behaved in the habitat provided for him. Then, after watching him stalk the shadows and climb on high things to hide himself. They had an idea that just may work, and it did.

They trained him as an assassin, teaching him the fine and delicate arts of stealth and working in the shadows. Helping him to know how to disappear from anywhere, blend with anything, steal without a hitch, and to have a face none could recognize or remember, and kill remorselessly and on command. But they trained him as a follower, not a leader or individual, someone who needs others, someone to lead and tell him what to do and where to go. They made him need an owner, training him to accept the rule of anyone and everyone, to follow every and any order without question or thinking for himself at all. But they knew this was flawed, and to counter it, they only taught him how to read and write. He couldn't understand any form of language of any kind, save for a sign language that only three people knew.

Two being Jhorvaak and Zhai. It took a grueling 30 years to finally fine tune all his skills, and flaws. He was 36 when he was finally returned to Jhorvaak. He had been turned into the perfect killing machine, almost unthinking when it came to emotions and thinking for himself. But yet a brilliant tactician, capable of finding ways out of the most hopeless situations. He was so very smart, but so very stupid at the same time. Blinded by his master and his teachers and convinced that Jhorvaak was his step father. With Zhai under the chains of control, Jhorvaak began sending Zhai on contracts to kill people he didn’t like. Able to make Zhai fight and work with even more ferocity by telling him the people he had to kill were people involved in a “conspiracy” against his family and were responsible for his parents deaths.

For four long years, Jhorvaak was able to point Zhai’s anger and ruthlessness at anyone. Until one of Zhai’s targets who knew Zhai’s mother personally had been deemed to die by Jhorvaak, his only crime was winning a petty bet. And Zhai was about to kill him too, but this little fox had caught on to how Zhai communicated. He stayed at his house, writing out something in a personal journal. Making so easy for Zhai to get to him was that all he needed to do was walk in the front door. The fox knew there was no way he could stop Zhai from killing him, he just continued to write as he ignored Zhai walking up to him from behind, just finishing the last words as Zhai slit his throat and drove his claws into his temples.

Zhai saw the writing, and he saw in big bold letters “BLADE”.. This was cause for him to be taken aback, Jhorvaak had been the only one who called him that so far.. He was baffled as to how this fox knew his name. He took the book and read it, cover to cover in a matter of an hour. In the book was the detailing of the fox’s life. It told of how Zhai wasn’t actually named Blade, the name given to him by Jhorvaak, but instead his name was Zhai Vhorkuli. And that Jhorvaak had no actual relation to Zhai in the least, in fact, his only family, a feral Komodo Dragon male, and a Malayan Water Monitor female, were killed by none other than Jhorvaak. It also detailed how his mother feared that Zhai would become a monster, an unthinking killing machine that no one could stop.

And how his mother begged Jhorvaak and even fought him to try and get him to end Zhai because of that very fear. And how Zhai was now under the control of Jhorvaak after years of training somewhere in the mountains, and was now Jhorvaak’s little pet he sent to murder those he didn’t like or needed gone to gain power. The rest was soaked in the fox’s blood.. Zhai’s hands were trembling, all this time he’d been killing innocent people who did nothing wrong. All this time he believed Jhorvaak was his father, and that his family was killed by a horde of corrupt officials.. But this totally flew in the face of all he knew. And it made sense too, Jhorvaak’s mistreatment and disliking of him. The people he had killed not having a very official look, or even a body guard.

But what really tore him up was that he’d become his mother’s worst nightmare, the very thing she died trying to prevent. A soulless killing machine.. After reading that journal, he sat down and began to think. Thinking for himself for just about the first time in his life… He then rose, promising that he would only work for good. After he killed Jhorvaak. He then returned to his master, pretending to still be his pawn. And killed him that night, taking his ring finger as a reminder of his past. He then fled the village, and even left the country. Boarding a ship and stowing away until they crossed a mighty ocean. He then left, arriving at the land at the young (!young in lizard years!) age of 41. From then on, he spent his time learning the incredible art of alchemy and fighting for just causes. Five years later he wound up taking permanent residence in the deep and dark woods of a place known as Nexus.

Now, here is where his story ends. I have no more to tell because what happens next is unfolding before you as we speak.



Physical Appearance

Zhai is a rather uninteresting lizard, having muted coloration on his scales due to him being a male, consisting of a dull steel-ish grey on his back and sides of his body and tail. And a pale white color on his underbelly. With deep steel grey eyes and black slit pupils. His height is probably the most interesting thing out of all of his this, coming in at about 10' 7'' with a tail just as long as he is. His internal organs are a natural pinkish-red, his tongue is included in this, and it has a deep fork in it. It is also very, very long for his size. Being about 4' 6''. He has a nipple-less chest and a well built frame. While he's not rippling with muscles and masculinity, he does have a very decent build. His muscles actually being quite apparent, but don't let this confuse you. He isn't physically large in that sense, he's actually rather thin with a trim body. He also has jet black claws that have had their growth stunted and have had the entirety of them coated in sharpened tungsten. His maw has serrated teeth as well as two glands at the back for releasing toxin into wounds.
Now for the clothes.
He wears a rather complex outfit though, but it's nothing flashy. It consists of a black vest with a steel gray undershirt that is lined with knives and daggers held on by leather strips reinforced with metal lining. His pants are a nondescript deep gray and is not very noteworthy.. His shoes are specially made however, covering his feet all the way save for his claws and toes. He also has a belt that on the sides have specially made potion pouches. He is capable of carrying 9 total. And on top of all this he has a hooded cape that is made to look like he is a servant for a rich house or a lord of some kind. The insignia being what appears to be a kind of dragon that is detailed to look as if it were swallowing the one wearing the cape. You may think this would be an obvious spot, but just wait until you chase and catch him. You'd be surprised how hard it would be to identify him. He also has plate metal gloves on that are specially designed to let his fingertips and claws stay exposed. The plate also has a weave of fabric over it so they are not obvious armor. He also has had good layer of incredibly high quality leather armor lining his scales to provide additional armor. All in all, you probably won't even see his face. Though it is the only part of his body totally exposed.

Personality:
Zhai is not exactly the most personable of assassins, not being able to talk and all. And having not much interaction besides getting chased or killing. Though he does have a bit of a personality, often being a more forgiving lizard. Leaning more towards the just and honorable side of things. That said, piss him off or play dirty, and he won't hesitate to kick someone in the testicles and stab them in their exposed back. Additionally, he has the blood of two fierce and deadly predators rushing in his veins. As controlled and nice as he may look, there is a demon within that has limited time before it surfaces. Turning him into a cruel and ruthless killer that does so just to eat whether he's hungry or not.

Abilities and other things:
Assassin Training - He is a trained killer, and can do so without remorse or care. And with great skill. This includes being trained in other arts, such as thievery and acrobatics. Anymore questions about his training? Ask me!
Alchemy Training - He is trained in the art of alchemy, he can brew just about anything with right ingredients.
Venom - Zhai has a poisonous bite, two glands in his mouth secrete a powerful venom that disrupts blood clotting and causes extreme swelling. As well as paralysis of muscles and burning pain. That said, his venom has limited effect areas in the body. So if he bites your in the neck, say your prayers. If he bites you in an extremity, then you'll be fine.. Maybe.

Notes:
Zhai CANNOT speak. But he can learn if one is to teach him, but for now he can only read, write, and do a strange sign language no one else knows. Oh, and he can make lizardy sounds too. And this only helps to portray he is nothing but a lowly servant. !!!Addendum!!! Thanks to the dragon Rakant, Zhai can now speak and understand draconic languages. Unfortunately, that's the only language he can speak as of right now.. !!!Double Addendum!!! In a roleplay with the neko Sallyy, Zhai wound up drinking what is called a Potion of Tongues. And is now quite fluent in both English and Draconic, and can speak, read and write in both languages very well.
All that Zhai knows is based around the early 13th century. Keep that in mind when interacting with him.
Before you get all confused, the reason I don't specify Zhai's gender and call him a male is because he is an alchemist. He can brew countless potions and make incredible elixers. One of which can even change his gender quite quickly!
Zhai is bred for being owned by another, he has no qualms with having a master so long as they are worthy and don't use him for evil deeds. He is and will always be willing to accept ownership over him, this has been so sewn into his mind that it cannot be undone. Save for erasing his mind entirely.
Just so you know, dragons scare Zhai a bit. While he's not a total bitch about them, they wear on his psyche, and he is unwilling to fight them. And the bigger they are, the more they scare him. Up to the point where he's utterly terrified. Giving dragons an inherent advantage over him.
Before you start wondering, the player is female.. And I didn't list how Zhai's genitalia for a reason. It's for you to find out.~ :3
Zhai has fallen under the spell of Elebris, she managed to make him love her. Or his equivalent of love, as a result, Zhai has started getting certain feelings he has never had before, like lust, and he's even started to dream. But, the good of that is kind of a shaky bridge. Since his dreams are mostly haunted by angry spirits of people he's killed. So he's been sleeping progressively less, since sleep has hurt more so then help of late. If allowed to progress much further, Zhai may resolve to never sleep again.
As an odd and semi-interesting note, Zhai is skilled at playing the flute. But only ever does it by himself, as he views it as a "Private Behavior" of sorts.. So don't expect him to put a show on.
As a random note, Zhai may be 46 years old, but in his form of lizard-years, he's barely 20.

If you approach me, and don't get a reply, there's three explanations why. First and most likely: I'm listening to really loud music/in a Skype call and couldn't hear the bing. Second with moderate likelihood: I'm away from the computer and am unable to reply. Third and least likely: I dun goofed and passed out while logged in.
If you have reason to suspect that it's the first thing, then go ahead and spam me with messages. I can't not hear it forever. As for the other two, the only real remedy is waiting.



Zhai's Quests (RP Ideas):
The Legend Reborn: Despite so few people having knowledge of Zhai's existence, someone with substantial power figured out his secrets. And using his incredibly far reaching power, he recreates Zhai. Only better, trained longer, harder, and more ruthlessly than Zhai. In addition, the one trained was quite willing, and very aware. And is also a creature of great power(Like a dragon or gryphon or some other very powerful mythical creature)and of course, the man knows that Zhai would be a very annoying wedge in many of his plans. So naturally, he sends his little assassin after Zhai. And after a few confrontations, it becomes clear that this assassin is far better than Zhai. And fighting the creature alone, he will only achieve his capture, or worse yet. His demise. So, he decides to gather help. Recruiting even mages(which he distrusts and dislikes..)to help his cause in stopping this evil. Possibly building a relationship with one of his teammates, or many other things could happen. Time for an obvious warning.. !!!POWERFUL CHARACTER SUGGESTED, I DO NOT INTEND ON HAVING ZHAI BABYSIT WEAK CHARACTERS UNABLE TO FIGHT SOMEONE EVEN MORE SKILLED THAN ZHAI!!! Though you need not have a flawless, powerplayed character, this idea is only open to those with more powerful characters. As no "Average Joe" could possibly hope to keep up with Zhai, let alone contend against his better. Alternatively, you need not have a powerful character, but at least one with skill. Ones that Zhai could fine-tune and make said character into a worthy Apprentice.
