The Omega Metroid is the sixth (often final) stage of a typical Metroid's life cycle. Special Metroids will be able to metamorphose from the Omega stage into a Queen. An Omega Metroid is typically about twice the height of a human; its well-developed exoskeleton exposes only a small area of its softer membrane around its stomach. Like the previous Zeta stage, an Omega Metroid has a leech-like mouth, a bipedal structure, a tail, and four clawed limbs.
Samus Aran encountered several Omega Metroids during her mission to SR388. She would later fight another Omega Metroid created by Galactic Federation experiments on the Biologic Space Laboratories research station. One larval Metroid escaped from the Restricted Laboratory before its destruction and quickly developed into the Omega stage, appearing in the Docking Bays.
Little did she know this metroid's death had left several cells on her suit. Making viable the re-establishment of the metroid cloning programs the Galatic Federation had managed to develop in the depths of the Biologic Space Laboratories research station. This was to be the third time the Federation began cloning metroids and certainly wouldn't be the last by any stretch of the imagination.
Through repeated research into the Metroid's biologic makeup it was possible to make them intelligent enough to understand docility. Making them trainable, or at least calm enough to teach. While speech remains out of the question for those metroids below the designation Omega it is not uncommon now to see one or two with a universal translator strapped around their necks. One such specimen with these collars is called Zaero.
Grown and rapidly developed to an Omega stage, this metroid managed to break free of its 'trainers'. In its blind rage the metroid managed to not only mutilate its handlers it also caused enough destruction to destroy the research lab. In the resulting explosion all specimens in the lab were determined destroyed. They assumed that as Zaero had been in the epicenter at the time he was vaporized with the other specimens near that area of the lab.
In reality the young Omega metroid was farther from that station than the researchers realized. He had stumbled upon a strange rip in space caused by an odd apparatus in the lab and have been blown through it in the explosion.
He landed in a new world, one that had never seen his kind before. Full of biological foods that had no clue he was coming.....
