Yasha_G

While he possesses terrifying supernatural abilities, stands 15 feet tall and certainly looks intimidating enough at a glance, Giratina isn't exactly the nightmare that his species and origins make him out to be. His tale, however, does go as you may have heard: of Arceus' three 'children', he proved to be dangerously violent and temperamental compared to his siblings Dialga and Palkia, and was eventually banished to that effect. He spent many a millennia in solitude, watching the material world from the twisted plane of existence he had been resigned to haunt. Yes, that is how the story goes. But a millennium is a long, long time, and even without the guidance of others, people inevitably change. Such is the case with Giratina-- 'Yasha', as he calls himself, since going by the name of his species does him no favors in this day and age.

During the first few decades of his imprisonment, Yasha was indignant, as was to be expected. He desperately sought a means of escape, cursing his creator and demanding to be set loose so that his thirst for brutality could be slaked. The days carried on, oblivious to his protests. Century after laborious century soon passed him by, and with no outlet for the ceaseless anger roiling inside him, Yasha's vengeful impulses gradually dwindled-- such that by the time he eventually found a way to access the material world again, the urge to damage it had faded.

Yes, it was a more interesting place than he remembered, a surprisingly lively realm that differed infinitely from the Distortion World he called home. Yet his reaction to it was mild curiosity at best; after all, while Yasha had been banished from treading there, he had not been blocked from viewing reflections of the other world. Visiting it in person was not as fascinating and different as he had hoped, and the 'beauty' of the material realm was hardly the thing that stayed his hand from wreaking havoc.

No, something far more mundane and unexciting kept him pacified. Arceus had forced him to mete out a quiet, lonesome existence whether he liked it or not, and getting used to it had been a matter of time, not choice. That time had already long since passed. Now, Yasha simply lacked the drive to cause the mayhem he previously sought. The eons had gradually calmed him into a state of bitter apathy, and that apathy pulled and pulled away at his anger until only the barest dregs of it remained. Giratina-- the horrific, destructive force of nature, the creature whose name fostered fear in the hearts of men-- had become bored and lethargic.

Understandably, then, he is hardly recognizable today as the ruthless Giratina of legend. The present-day Yasha is far too lazy and self-absorbed to even be threatening under typical circumstances. He prefers to be left well enough alone, particularly since he lacks the social finesse and fortitude necessary to be amiable in conversation. Nothing resembling a smile ever deigns to cross his face, and while he will answer when spoken to, one should not expect a terribly friendly or polite conversation when engaging him. Yasha's attention is a challenge to genuinely gain, and those who persist in pestering him when he doesn't favor their company will probably end up scalded by his rampant sarcasm and blunt, brutal honesty. That, or they might end up dead, depending on his mood. Sometimes he's patient, sometimes he's not. It's mostly a matter of how much he likes you.

With regards to getting him to like you, well... keep in mind that Yasha is the center of his own universe. He isn't egotistical, per se, but having no one save himself to talk to for centuries on end did render him rather selfish. All that time taught him the importance of focusing on his own happiness in lieu of everything else, so he intentionally prioritizes things that give him pleasure. Abiding his wishes and treating him with respect is the best way to make a good impression... though he also happens to love sweaters and naps and sweet things a little too much, often in excessive quantities. Yasha is not ashamed of hedonism or indulgence in the slightest, and can often be found immersed in more warm blankets and pillows than is remotely necessary. Offering him some cake or a similarly saccharine dessert is probably the simplest way to get on his good side quickly. (Strawberry is his favorite.)

Speaking of food... while he's not necessarily a bad guy, Yasha does kinda maybe eat people a little bit, and no, he doesn't really feel guilty about it when he does. Usually the ones who get eaten are the ones who are irritating and try to get in his way, so they were totally asking for it, right? That's how he likes to interpret it, undoubtedly... aside from those times when there aren't any 'acceptable' victims running around, in which case he doesn't really have a good excuse. Not that it matters much to him either way. Very few individuals are likely to earn his sympathy, though he can be begrudgingly convinced to spare a life if he's feeling generous (or if his victims have something better to give him in exchange). Unfortunately for humans, though, he doesn't usually extend said generosity to their kind; the nosy tendencies they've consistently displayed throughout history don't sit well with him, and thinking about it makes him even grumpier than normal. Besides, some of them try to catch him, and that's just plain rude.

A bit of advice: no matter how Yasha may appear to feel about you, don't ask too many questions and don't ever try to follow him home. The Distortion World he hails from is not a pleasant place, for starters, but above all it is his personal domain, the place he retreats to when seeking solace and comfort. No one else is welcome there. In short, he'll murder you super dead for even thinking about setting foot in his house. (It may have been his prison instead of his house at one point, but he doesn't exactly think of it that way any longer.)

Messing with reality or the space-time continuum in any way is similarly discouraged, considering that maintaining the balance between the Distortion World and the material world is and always has been his job-- a job he takes very, very seriously despite his usual laziness. Yasha may be pretty relaxed compared to how he originally was, but make no mistake: the vicious disposition that became him in his youth is still a part of who he is, buried somewhere in the back of his mind. A trait that inherent can never completely be erased. Screwing things up for him could very well rekindle those emotions... and it is then, and only then, that he might give people reason to remember why Giratina was banished in the first place.
