WorldofPokemon

Welcome to the world of POKEMON. Where you can travel to all your favorite regions to begin, or continue your pokemon journey. From the more standard and well populated regions such as Kanto, Sinnoh, or Hoenn, to stranger lands, some of which are not fully explored or developed, or have only recently been discovered! Even the more well known and settled regions like Unova still have some mysteries left to unlock, and champions can change in the blink of an eye, so what are you waiting for? It's time to start your very own pokemon journey!

-This is not meant for one-off random scenes. I've had a lot of people asking about it, so lemme make it clear. This is meant for long term stories and plays, not short ones. Dont' come to me if you just want to eat or be eaten by Pokemon X, Y, or Z.

Zanitos Region

A region that was only discovered three years ago, it's quite the impressive region, situated far, far West of the Hoenn region, and consists of one large central land mass, with a moderately sized island to its North East, and a great chain of islands to its South West. It possesses a great number and variety of pokemon, but then again so do most if not all regions of the world, and with a great variety in environments found within. Overall though, Zanitos is mostly tropical, particularly in the Northern areas of its region, the place being fairly South on the world, but the southern islands, and a few of the high mountain ranges on the main land, can get quite cold, positively icy even. So far, the region isn't even populated enough to merit a pokemon league there yet, although the land is attracting more and more people, normal folks and pokemon trainers alike, and it's only a matter of time before enough towns sprout up and enough people, to merit those eight gyms, and the need to find and select a champion....

The cities of Zanitos.

There are three main cities in the Zanitos region right now, with a number of smaller villages spread about here and there across the land. Naturally a town has to be of a bigger size than those small villages to be eligible for a gym or the like, but some are of note due to their location. The three big settlements though are:

Shoal Town- Located on the Northern island above the mainland, Shoal Town forms the main hub for any trainer or explorer who wishes to see what lurks within the hilly, heavily forested landscape of the Northern Island. It's a good sized settlement, set upon the shores and slopes of the southern coastline, near the eastern edge of the island. Most of the houses are built on tall wooden supports, to avoid tides which can get quite high in the passage separating the island from the mainland. While it doesn't have any great skyscrapers or towers, it sprawls over a few good miles of land, with all the essentials for a thriving community and a bit extra too.

Magenta City- The biggest city in Zanitos. Located rather far inland on the main island, it's nonetheless well connected to the coasts thanks to being situated snugly around the massive White River, so named because many banks of this massive river are churned to white froth by vicious rocks. In fact Magenta City was built around one of the few safe crossing places early explorers found, with a ferry service working to carry people from one side of the city to the other. Oh yes, it occupies both banks, with a massive shopping mall on one side, and a massive gym still in construction on the other. That gym is quite the talk, since it seems the founder of the city, one Rebecca Lataveil intends to be the region's first gym leader, and quietly wait for when a full, official league can be formed.

Obsidian Town- A mining community found deep within the Red Mountains, it's situated near a long dead volcano, only notable for the great amount of obsidian located around the slopes. Of course, they don't mine obsidian, there's also a great supply of iron within the dormant volcano's tunnels and caves, just waiting to be unearthed, and who knows what else just waiting to be found and harvested!

Dune Town- The smallest town currently to be recognized as a proper settlement in Zanitos, Dune Town is very, very new. Its population crests just over two hundred, and they've focused the town around a lovely oasis. They haven't actually set themselves into it, but are close enough that aqueducts and water supply is ready at hand.

Remember, there are tons of much smaller towns, with maybe a small inn or motel that someone could stay at on their way to explore other places or imbetween Obsidian Town and Magenta City, they just won't be mentioned unless they become of great importance. How will something become of great importance? Just has to be significantly involved in some big event in a story with one or more of the trainers that'll be exploring the place of course!

The Geography and Landmarks of Zanitos

Dragon's Spire- A massive, tall mountain located in the center of North Island. It's not too strange, to see such a large and tall mountain, the hills do get very tall towards there, and North Island's center is significantly hilly country, but there's still something abit off, it's very tall and big after all, and home to many types of dragon type. On the lower, more lush and treed slopes, one can find the dragons that more enjoy humid or wet environments, such as dratini, while in the myriad caves, one can find more earthen types such as Gible...yet even up higher at the lofty peak, the proud, powerful dragons like Salamence fly and stake their claims! Yet, if one can believe it, a few trainers who have managed to reach the spire and return claim to have seen even rarer pokemon than that, such as a particular green dragon rather well known in Hoenn...

The White River- The massive river that seems to bisect the mainland into two neat halves, starting up North and careening on down to the south, most of its banks are sheer cliffs, and often lined with rocks. Ships can pass through it easily enough, its so wide that there's no shortage of safe, if swift, routes down the middle of the river, and that works well for Magenta City, otherwise new arrivals would have to arrive in Shoal Town!

The Twisted Range- the main mountain range, off on the Western area of the mainland, the Twisted Range is a sprawling mountain range, that seems to be more of a rough oval than a line of mountains. It is in the Northern 'tip' of this oval that one can find Obsidian Town, the northern area of the mountains being the best explored, while those South barely being touched. It would be hard work and climbing though while roads have yet to be built, and great passes haven't been fully found and routed out, and the mountains are cold, and even icy, and full of pokemon to match such things.

The Great Field- Reports from surveyors mapping the region from far up high, report a massive peninsula in the Northwest. It seems to have no trees at all, and comprises almost solely massive, sprawling grasslands, with one massive tree near the center of it! Those surveyors alas, could not get closer, without risking their flying pokemon in attacks, and the peninsula itself has no harbors or beaches, standing on tall cliffs, although a brave traveler might still scale them.

Tyrant Desert- This Desert, located in the North-East of the mainland, has been named the Tyrant Desert due to the rather dangerous population of Tyranitar that inhabit it. A small settlement called Clay Town has been founded around a lush oasis in the North of the desert, and the Tyranitar have since retreated to the southern portions, that have yet been too hostile, hot, and dangerous for many to have attempted exploring...successfully at least.

Oasis Zone- A large Oasis, covering a couple square miles. It's found immediately north of Dune Town, which is built almost right on the edge of it. It's teeming with pokemon, and there's serious discussion of making this Zanitos' safari zone once the region is more established and better colonized.

Gem Islands- The multitude of small islands south of the mainland of Zanitos, the largest of them covers no more than one hundred square miles. They're so named due to the fact that they are very cold, and in Winter they actually freeze over completely, even the ocean itself freezing near the furthest south islands, giving them the appearance of glittering gems sticking out of the sea to those who fly up above.

North Island- The island to the north of the mainland, and quite the big island it is, although it's not even a quarter of the size of the mainland. It's warm and more tropical, dominated mostly by rolling hills and lush rainforests, with an odd massive mountain in the center. Thanks to the dense jungle though, very little has been explored, leaving who knows what to be found.

Naturally there must be more landmarks and interesting geography to note, but as of yet it either hasnt been found, or hasn't been examined closely enough by an enterprising explorer or trainer. Who knows what you might find, you might even get to name it!

Important Peoples of Zanitos

Professor Maple- A pokemon professor and the main one off in Shoal Town, which is touted as the place to start if you're an absolute rookie trainer, or wish to take your time getting to know the area. More experienced trainers tend to go straight to Magenta City to start off, unless they have business with the professor or plan to explore North Island. A professor who specializes in the study of pokemon as they behave in the wild, she's been trying very hard to convince people not to get TOO settled into Zanitos, and is always looking for discreet trainers who can observe the wild pokemon and try not to interfere too much. Zanitos presents a rare opportunity after all, for at least as long as it's barely settled.

Rebecca Lataveil- The founder of Magenta City, she's a strong, raven haired beauty, native to Sinnoh. She had done a great deal of work and gained quite the reputation in her homeland, although she was never able to defeat the reigning champion, something which always irked her. She has built a gym in Magenta City, although whispers state that if given the chance she'd become the region's champion and hand the gym off to a worthy successor instead. Either way it appears Rebecca is there to stay, for as long as the Zanitos region itself stays there.

There are naturally more people, but alas they have not been met by trainers yet. Who knows what rivals or great trainers and explorers might be met on your travels? Only one way to find out!

OOC stuff and rules (rather important.)

I will play the regions as either one of three things: Purely feral pokemon, anthro pokemon, or demi pokemon. Which one is up to you.

-Feral pokemon can't talk with only very limited basis that I will decide upon.

-How intelligent or aware Gijinka and anthro's are will vary on a case by case basis with other players.

-all legendaries are females, you might be able to sweet talk me into playing them as herms, if you're charming and well spoken.

-Don't expect to catch legendaries in Zanitos. The only ones that'll be showing up in Zanitos, IF they show up, are those with good reasons and methods to move around, Kyogre, Rayquayza, Dialga and Palkia, and so on and so forth, those restricted to specific locations (Like Mesprit, Azelf and Uxie) will not be showing up except maybe, MAYBE as some other trainer's pokemon.

-Even if you're in one of the canon regions, don't expect to catch legendaries beyond more simple ones like Zapdos or Raikou. Big legendaries like Rayquayza or Dialga aren't exactly the type of thing any pokemon would be able to handle in a realistic setting.

-I play things kinda realistically. There are no levels, whether the pokemon can know a limited number of moves is up to you, but battles won't be clean cut turn based, they will be more frantic and fast paced, and size and strength will matter somewhat more, no beating Palkia with a Raichu just because the Raichu is really high level.

-All the regions are much bigger than the games, they obviously would be if the games didn't have to keep the map to a reasonable size. Thus all the regions will have towns other than those in the games, possibly towns listed in the anime. Deal with it.

-Grimer, magnemite, and other such pokemon that are a result of mankind's influence on the environment are very, very rare in Zanitos right now. However, ghost types like Banette or pokemon like Bronzor can be found in the right places....who knows, maybe Zanitos was once settled in the past...

-If Arceus shows up, which will probably never happen, don't expect to be able to catch her, just count yourself lucky if you don't get eaten.

-Do ya wanna see what would happen if instead of moving cautiously around the corner and then backed away from the Garchomp rump, you instead just ran forward and plowed right into it? Would you like to find out what happens when you try to climb over the Snorlax instead of going around it? Well now with incredible save state technology you can pick a specific spot to stop at, and then just go ahead and get your bad end before reverting to the save and continuing without making the dumbass decision that got you killed!

-Do ya wanna eat and be eaten, but without the need to go back in time every time someone important to you kicks the bucket? Well now with optional reformation technology, pokemon centers can double as reformation centers, where pokemon and even trainers are brought back to life. (Entirely optional, can be excluded if preferred.)

-This is not meant for one-off random scenes. I've had a lot of people asking about it, so lemme make it clear. This is meant for long term stories and plays, not short ones. Dont' come to me if you just want to eat or be eaten by Pokemon X, Y, or Z.
