History of the Amazons
The Greek empire was a loose empire of City States that existed from roughly 800 BC until roughly 146 BC, when all of the city states were conquered by the Roman Empire. During this time, Greek Society of all of the city-states was patriarchal, with men holding positions of power, and women held a life of servitude. Each city-state had its own government with elected officials, and interacted with other city-states much in the same way as foreign governments do today. Governments were put into power by means of random selection, with people refusing their perceived civic duty cast out into the wilderness for a period of 6 years. Each city-state had its own patron deity, that is a deity that was honored above all other deities in that particular city. For example, the citizens of Athens revered the goddess Athena above all, while the citizens in Sparta revered Ares, god of war above all others. This would be reflected in their societies, with Spartan males forced to participate in battle, while Athens would have more schools, and a less developed military.
This situation did well for the men, but of course, the women in Greek society desired something more. In Sparta, a woman named Hippolyta came into the belief that all Spartans were descended from Ares, God of War, and should be allowed to fight. However, the males in the society did not wish to give up their power, so Hippolyta began to gather female from Sparta and the surrounding lands, and rose up against tyranny. Not wanting to pit Spartan against Spartan, and fight Ares's chosen warriors, she instead fled toward the island of Lesbos in the Aegean sea. From there, women from all cities began to arrive, seeking the same freedom the men around them enjoyed. All were accepted, and the culture of the city began to change, with men as equal, but all gods were held in importance instead of simply one. The city began to grow into thousands, then tens of thousands.
However, not all was fine. With the loss of power among the men in Greek city-states, anger and greed began to foster and grow, as armies began to rise up against the Amazonian people. The Matriarchal society of the Amazons was forced to fight back invasion after invasion, fighting with their very spirit and their breath. However, the men in the Amazon's cities, given the same level of power and servitude women elsewhere had, rose up against them, and a great civil war broke out. The Amazons fought well, too well, as a matter of fact, and the battle even threatened to spill out into the world, and consume all of mankind. The fighting grew so destructive that the gods themselves were forced to intervene. Hera, patron goddess of all women, finally stepped in and took all of the Amazons away to live on an Island, hidden away from all humanity, to be named Themaskyra. They received many gifts from the gods for their righteous cause, including immortality, secrecy, as well as an entire world's worth of literature transported to the island by messengers of the gods themselves.
Amazon Society-
In the argument of nature vs. nurture, one cannot judge Wonder Woman without learning of the society she came from. Amazonian society is actually based on ancient Greece. The religious icons themselves are the Greek gods, though with their own iterations of the stories. Slavery is very real in Themyscira, used to punish criminals, though it was not unheard of for an Amazon to willingly undergo a period of wiling sexual servitude to another, usually a wife. That is correct, homosexual relationships are normal to Themyscira. They would have to be, or else no one will get laid. The Amazons work to maintain a traditional civilization akin to an ancient society, believing that technology will actually interrupt their understanding of magic. This does not mean they know nothing, however, as a great Library of every available technology, a gift from Athena herself, is open to the island. Many Amazons know technologies that would make women blush, though the only ones used on a daily basis are metallurgy, and fighting. The crossbows and sword of the Amazons are actually able to tear apart steel, having been made out of an alien material, and influenced with magic runes..
Religion is devised from the Oracle, who prophesies are seen as sacred, with every Amazon hearing its call, willing to assist. Magic is actually carved into the very metal of the structures, as well as carved into runes into the surface of every building. Most are of a religious nature, prayers to Aphrodite written on the temple of love, Prayers to Athena written on the library, and prayers to hephestus on the forge. However, there is more to them than simple prayers. Most Amazons practice a form of energy manipulation, similar to the Wiccan religion. By attempting to carve their runes, the Amazons are actually realistically trying to shape the building's fortunes. There is actually a deep and complex system to these rituals. Alchemy is advanced as well with the Amazons capable of many forms of physical and mental alteration.
They are ruled by Queen Hippolyta, the person who gave ritualistic birth to Diana Prince, the daughter that the island could raise together. She sculpted Diana from clay, and then rose her to the skies, where the gods themselves brought life to the clay baby, and Diana Prince was born. Queen Hippolyta alone is judge and jury, with the entire army at her command.
Background
With the island isolated from the world around them, the Amazons began to feel the motherly instincts of a woman in man's world. Hippolyta, however, was unwilling to allow her servants to mingle with the corrupting world of man so they could bear children. Instead she petitioned the gods themselves for a daughter for her people. Not wanting to punish an entire people for the arrogance of one, Hera sent a instructions to Hippolyta to create a daughter from clay. Hippolyta sculpted the a daughter as a gift, to be raised by her people. She was named Diana Prince, and became princess of the Amazons. Each Amazon imparted their own knowledge and special wisdom to the young warrior. As a result, she became a blend of every personality on the island, wise, strong, and resilient. Eventually, Amazons started to escape their island, and Hippolyta put out a call for a contest, the winner would be sent to Man's world to bring the Amazons back. Unwilling to put her daughter through the same temptations, fears, and pain that all the other Amazons knew too well under the Greeks, Hippolyta forbade Diana to participate. However, on the urging of Hera, Diana snuck into the contest, her face hidden by a helmet. She soon won, and was able to wear the sacred armor once worn by Hippolyta herself. From that point on, Diana became Wonder Woman.
Personality-
Diana Prince seems to be a rather laid back woman, Though in reality, she is quite Dominant. She simply remains low key to give others a fair chance of voicing their own opinion. She comes from a society of conquerors and fighters, where slaves intermingle with free standing members of society. Many things can fit into her world (Depending on the rp.) As a result, she is keep to accept another heroine's servitude.
Weaknesses-
IF her armor is stripped of their enchantments then she will wind up powerless. All her power comes from her armor, and if thats gone, she has nothing.

One of Wonder Woman's most famous powers. In this incarnation, its actually granted by her costume. She can control herself in the sky, able to stop on a dime, or change her speed and direction.
Super Strength
Another one of Wonder woman's essential powers, her body armor grants her super strength. With her armor on, she has the ability to match any foe in terms of raw power, and is second to only superman or Power_Girl
Bracers-
Invulnerability against projectiles
Her bracelets are invulnerable, created out of both magic, and metals. They are able to stop any bullet, arrow, or magical beam, provided that it is not larger than the bracelets on her wrists.
Just in time
In combination with her tiara, her bracelets are able to detect incoming fire before it reaches wonder woman, and tells her exactly where to place them in order to block the incoming shot.
SuperStrength
This enchantment is actually rather small, and only serves as a backup to the enchantment on her chest armor. Should that fail, she would only be gratned a quarter of her strength.
SuperSpeed
A backup to the speed enchantment on her boots, should it fail. IF it does, she would still be granted a halfof her usual speed. It also helps ensure that her bracelts “just in time” enchantment can work. Without her boots however, it may not be fast enough to stop the fastest projectiles, such as bullets.
Anti-Magic
This may seem a bit contradictory, but this enchantment actually refers to the fact that her bracelets are enchanted to deflect anti-magic beams, anti-magic rays, and really, anything thrown at her that will take her magic away. In addition, it is also designed to work in an anti-magic field, meaning that WW would still have at least some of her power. However, this enchantment wont' work if an anti-magic object sticks to her bracelets, as that tends to be too much, and will wind up destroying the enchantment.
Hyper Accuracy
This enchantment allows diana to throw anything she can hold in her hands, with pinpoint accuracy.
Tiara-
Telepathic contact
Her tiara is able to contact directly with animals of any species or type, allowing her to communicate. She can make any request she wants, though animals don't have to obey. They can also respond to her and she'll understand.
Knowledge of languages
Her tiara fills her mind of any language she needs to communicate, be it alien, animal, or human. The effect is instantaneous.
Just In Time

Above is Wonder woman's protege and sidekick, a fellow Amazon by the name of Cassie Sandsmark, who took up the mantle of Wonder Girl.
