The first question you are probably asking yourself is, what the heck does it mean that she is a guardian? Well, throw out the notions of just guardian anyone, and those silly thoughts of summoners and pilgrimages. Verin comes from a long, long, long line of people that protected one person. Yuel.

There can only ever be one Guardian at once in the world, and each new guardian is chosen by battle, specifically, if the new guardian can fell the old and take their heart of Chaos.

Now, for Verin's story~
Age: 12
Favored attack type: close range sword strikes coupled with magic blasts
General class type: Chaos Ravager
She grew up in a happy little village, the males went out and hunted/defended the village, the females stayed in the village, yada yada.

Verin strove to change that about herself. She didn't want to be cooped up in the village all her life like everyone else. So, in secret, her brother started to teach her how to sword fight. Her days spent playing with the other children, her nights spent training in secret, she was often quite tired, seen dozing under a tree more often than not.

In just that position when she was little more than eight years old was when she met the very person that caused her to want to become a guardian. A shadow fell on the secret warrior, Verin looking up and spotting the most beautiful girl she had ever seen. Sure, she had heard of stories of the Yuel, being able to see the future and what not, but she had never been able to see the girl. She didn't look much older than Verin at the time.

She moved to get up and say hello to the Yuel, when a large blond man stepped forward, broad sword held threateningly at Verin. "None may touch the Yuel." He said, before both walked away. Verin would have thought nothing of it, if not for the look Yuel sent back at her. It set Verin's heart a blaze and she dashed off to keep training with her brother.

Verin spent four years training, honing her skills, even learning how to perform simple offensive spells. The day finally came that would go down in history. She challenged the current Guardian to a duel to the death, sword arm raised in a defensive position. The blond man laughed out right, but agreed to the duel regardless.

The battle wagged for hours, neither side giving any chance for the coup de grace. Verin was sporting numerous nicks and bruises all along her arms and legs, but never once did she stop. She had something to prove. Her eyes caught Yuel's, spun at the last second to avoid the sword to her chest and drove her own sword through the guardian's chest.

A bright red light emanated from his body, floating up before it all dropped back onto Verin. She dropped her sword, gasping as the power washed over her. It welled within her body, heating her, healing the wounds she had taken from the battle. Her face split into a happy smile, black tendrils of chaos rolling around her form for just a second before she passed out.

A new Guardian had been born....

Verin was the talk of the village. Youngest Guardian ever, and a girl to boot. She didn't care about what she had actually managed to do, all that mattered in the young Guardian's mind was that she got to be with that magnificent personification of beauty that was Yuel.

Her perfect little world was shattered not long after she learned the truth of what would happen to Yuel, her Yuel, and ever other Yuel that would come later. Their gift of being able to see the future would kill them, shorten their life span. Verin didn't want to believe this, couldn't believe this. Yuel could see when she would die, and yet, she couldn't do a thing about it! Verin would not accept this fate, to just sit back and watch as someone dear to her heart would wither and perish just because that was how it had always been.

In the middle of the night, not long after finding this out, she grabbed Yuel and together the two fled from their village, Verin cutting down any fool that would get in her way. So, together they fled into the night, away from a fate that hung over their heads...

It didn't take long for Verin to found out just how much it hurts to lose someone precious to her. It had only been three days since they had left the village, tired and hungry, they had sat down for a late lunch. Verin was just getting ready to eat, when she noticed Yuel crumple to the ground. The Guardian jumped up, concern evident in her face. Yuel told her not to worry, that this was bound to happen. That when you change the future, you change the past. Those were Yuel's last words to Verin before she passed.

Verin stayed in that spot, crying, cradling Yuel for almost two days straight. The only reason she still lived was because of the heart of Chaos beating in her chest. Her pain was heard, and behind her opened a gate, allowing her to slip into the time stream. She made a tomb of glass and crystal for Yuel, stepping through the gate with a new plan in mind. She would find a way to sever Yuel from the goddess, so that she could come back and live out a long life with her Yuel. Nothing else mattered.

Her true adventure starts now....

Magics/abilities:
Ruin - A small ball of pure white light is shot at her foe, staggering them for a moment if it hits.

Fire - A basic fire spell, low power
Branch ability: Chaos fire - Dark flames burn under her foe. If the main attack hits, then it will create Chaos tendrils that knock the foe into the air

Blizzard - Basic ice magic, low power, has chance to freeze people in place.

Aero - Concentrated wind blows around the caster in a sort of shield for short periods.

Chaos burst - A blast of concentrated Chaos energy billows out of her body, running along the ground for a few seconds before disappointing.

Chaos Slash - Verin swipes her sword up in an arc, forming a slash of dark energy that runs along the ground.

Limit attack:
Chaos Flare - Verin coats her blade in a dark wind and then charges her foe. She can only hold the wind over her blade for a few seconds though. If she manages to hit with the initial swipe, then the wind transfers to her foe, forming a ball of energy that lashes out at the person contained within. The energy soon vanishes, just in time for Verin to launch into a series of quick slashes, followed by one final charging slice fueled by her chaos energies.

The only time dodging is possible is during that first charging period.

The story so far:
Verin looked up as a mysterious voice called out to her. It was a strange woman, speaking like she knew Verin and speaking of the Yuel. Verin attacked in a rage, leaving Serah_ no room but to block her attacks.

Verin eventually caught the girl unaware, wrapping shadow tendrils all around her. She proceeded to tease Serah as she searched for questions as to how Serah knew the things she did. This ended up with a long talk between the two, eventually with Verin implementing a plan so crazy, it might just save Serah from certain death!

It's still a work in process, but if it works, Verin knows she'll be able to save every Yuel there ever was. For now though, she will defend Serah and their baby to the death. Come at her, fools~

OOC Notes: She can show up in any place, any time. She is not limited in that regard. What she is limited in, is her ability to think things through. The first time you encounter her, she may not even really notice you other than to demand you get out of her way. She's on a mission, find a way to derail it.
