Centauroids are one of many types of intelligent life found on Rashorra. Mammals with a humanoid head, arms, and torso, and the body and legs of an ungulate, centauroids tend to live in neighborhoods or even cities of their own, separate from the races of man. It’s not that they don’t get along with humanoids, intelligent life in modern-day Rashorra lives in peace with each-other for the most part. No, it’s that they simply don’t fit. Literally. Even buildings designed for the tallest of Hamazan simply aren’t made to accommodate a half-ton half-horse, and gods forbid a towering moose-taur try and fit through a revolving door or into an elevator. So, they live separately, by choice, in places with sturdier construction and taller ceilings. For the most part, anyway.
There are exceptions to every rule, and Venessa Regan here is one such exception. A centauroid of the sika deer variety, her race is closer to human-size, especially the females, and she’s petite for her race on top of that. Eternally curious ever since she was a wee little fawn, Venessa grew up in the Harmon Park neighborhood in the megacity of Anarius, and that curiosity lead her to many a trip to most every corner of the city during her formative years, to learn about the world outside of the little bubble of her centauroid community. Trips to museums and cultural centers all over the city, all over the nation, even internationally on the few trips she took overseas did little but fuel the flames of her curiosity, not quench them. Trips to the museum of magic, science, and industry got her damn well interested in all three of those subjects, and as she grew up and was ready to head off to college, she decided to pursue a career in mechanical engineering.
And pursue it she did, graduating a few years later with that pretty piece of paper signifying a degree in mechanical engineering, with a minor in Aether crystal circuitry. Her curiosity has meshed well with a natural creativity, as well: she's skilled at figuring out how things tick, to say the least, and the deer-taur loves to make all sorts of odd devices and machines in her spare time, creations running the gamut from practical to silly. She’s not just limited to tinkering with smaller things, either: Venessa’s just as comfortable working on a car as she is working on a toaster. As with buildings, motor vehicles need to be designed with unique specifications to fit people like her, and she’s quite adept at working with them, even converting humanoid vehicles into ones for centauroids as a side job.
As for her place in the food chain, she’s as omnivorous as anyone is in Rashorra, though centauroids are able to pack away more than the average humanoid due to their larger digestive tract. On the other hand, she’s a delicious, nutritious piece of venison, something that’s been made abundantly clear to her over the years - while a half-ton thoroughbred centaur might be too big to fit in an oven, her petite frame is most decidedly not. Still, it’s all part of normal life in Rashorra,
even if she's not exactly thrilled about it whenever her turn comes around.
She stands at 5’6” fully upright, with her deer body accounting for 3 and a quarter of those feet, and weighs about 185 pounds.
Fantasy Venessa
Venessa's equally at home in a fantasy setting, as well. She's still good with her hands, a blacksmith and a tinkerer that runs a shop in town. She's perfectly capable of augmenting and improving your equipment, and she even sells clockwork automatons that can serve any number of functions, from little mechanical spiders that can spy on things, to big hulking metal brawlers to punch your enemies. She's no pushover herself, though: it takes some strength to work the forge, and she's more than capable of bashing someone's face in with a hammer if need be.
