He wasn't exactly a good boy before he got his hands on the suit, but he probably had cleaner hands then than now. A bit shy at parties but wild in the bedroom, the boy now often known as Torment was liked well enough. Sure, even then, he had sticky fingers, which was how he managed to get by, but wetwork wasn't exactly his bread and butter, and he took far more jobs stealing than anything. Once he got his hands on the suit? Well, that all went out the window.
You may recognize the pattern and the custom-tailored fit. That's because the article of clothing that Torment now often wears is a variation of the Zero Suit designed for Samus Aran. This particular model of suit utilizes certain technology to allow for quick equipment, adaptation to its wearer and heightening of their physical prowess using some compound the Galactic Federation really didn't know much about. They didn't get much chance to test it, either, given that Torment made off with the prototype, which he was hired to steal. Unfortunately for both himself and his client, the suit bonded to him upon removal from its container. Quite fortunately, it provided him with a means of dealing with those that wanted to try to extract it forcefully, and a means to dispose of the evidence thereafter.
Samus Aran was given notice of a bounty on his head, though she was likely none too fond of the Galactic Federation experimenting on Chozo Technology, especially with some unknown components. Begrudgingly, the Samus from Torment's universe took the contract, but she's yet to locate him, seeing as he's vanished through some means or another into the Nexus. If he were to encounter Samus here, well, she may or may not be after him, and it may or may not be the same Samus Aran, anyway.
The suit is sentient, to a point, and the relationship between itself and Torment is somewhat symbiotic. He may remove it at any point by simply willing it from himself, leaving him exposed. While equipped, his strength, stamina, and agility are all increased to the paragon levels of human conditioning, but at a cost. The suit achieves this through melding with him and injecting chemicals directly into his bloodstream; chemicals that increase his physical capabilities at the cost of sending his hormones out of control, and increasing his metabolism. As such, he needs to consume quite a lot of food when he's actively making use of the suit and trying to reap its benefits. Fortunately, it has provided a means of obtaining this energy. While the suit is equipped, his skin becomes a little more elastic, allowing him to consume objects up to his size (or slightly larger) with minimal effort.
