'Gamer' is a pretty broad term. Some folks think it should be applied to anyone who plays games. Some think that casual gamers don't deserve the title. A few think it's some elite title to be bestowed upon those who truly know gaming.
The word otaku is similar. Some think all otaku are anime nerds, but it's really a lot broader than that, and yet the name is still guarded by those who hide behind its meaning in order to cling to some sort of identity.

What's that got to do with Tokarev? Well, for one, those are sentences no one has ever directed towards this girl... because she lives, eats, breathes, and sleeps videogames, manga, anime, and all other sorts of nerd-oriented things. She's enough of a nerd that she's able to subsist only on being a nerd... that is, using her gaming skills and nerd knowledge to keep her finances buoyed solely by winning tournaments and contests.
Her heritage doesn't really explain her name... she's always lived alone, as long as she can remember. Parents busy overseas meant that as soon as she was able to take care of herself, she did. Cooked, cleaned, all of that... she barely even saw them, and by the time she made it to high school, barely even remembered them. Maybe they abandoned her, maybe they just died. She doesn't know, and doesn't really care. Seems like after they bailed, she just started calling herself Tokarev. Odd at first, it turns out that she named herself after a handgun her father left her 'for self defense'. Guess her parents thought about her at least a little bit, yeah?
The house she lives in, on the outskirts of Tokyo, is paid for... she finished the payments off by herself after they stopped sending money about four years ago. Don't let the flat chest fool you... she's out of high school, now, and would be in college if she gave half a crap about it. She's moved most of her parents' stuff into storage and filled the place with all sorts of nerd things... massive gaming room, a reading room full of nothing but manga, her bedroom, a guest room, a room she calls 'ecchi heaven'...
Oh, right, almost forgot. What -is- Tokarev? Well, she's... sort of a catgirl like thing, maybe... ? Huh. Truth be told, I've never asked her! Maybe you should? Whatever she is, she's pretty lazy, and has a habit of flumping on visitors, or using them as pillows while drooling profusely on them.
Sometimes she eats them, too, but I didn't tell you that!
