"Didn't you know, traveller? There are no monsters in the Valewood."

The phrase is spoken tongue-in-cheek, mostly by those in the towns and villages nearest the borders of that great forest. The statement is both jest and as a warning. The Valewood does indeed have a much lower population of "monster" races than most wilderness. Nagas, harpies, slimes, even things like dragons don't tend to last long there. Why? Because the entire area is the territory of a tribe of very large, very strong amazons, who hunt monsters for food and to keep said territory secure. Meaning that arguably, the amazons themselves are the monsters!

Thankfully, the tribe of Valewood are not inherently hostile. The amazons can be reasoned and negotiated with, and having a friendly relationship with them is prized by many, for it makes for a travel and trade route of unusual safety. Of course it's nearly impossible to make it through the forest without being found out by the tribe, so friendly relations are a necessity!

Tobrial is a relatively standard example of these amazons. She stands 10'3" tall, powerfully muscled and beautifully curved. She comes from elven stock through her father (time with males for breeding purposes being a tradeable commodity for the all-female tribe), and has the fair skin and pointed ears to match. Thanks to the mild climate and her size, she wears very little, all of it cloth or leather. Boots, a loincloth with pouches on one hip and a utility knife that would count as a short sword on the other, and a strap around her chest.

She does sometimes travel beyond the Valewood, although such trips are uncommon. Most trade comes to them, and they only seek out the goods that are too specialized to need on a regular basis. In truth the world outside their territory just isn't built to accomodate their size, doesn't follow their rules, and isn't always kind to an amazon alone.
