Artio Bale was never known for being small. In fact, people probably never thought about it in refrence to him, both in width and height. For him, though, that'd be like a bird being known for flying - something that's just in it's nature. All that krill (among other things) has to go somewhere, right? Well, yes - or else it'd be a lot harder to explain his doughy flesh and tail. All of that comes in handy in colder waters and is pretty comfy most of the time.

What Artio was known for was his temperament. He's always seen relaxed, carefree - some say not a thing can stress him. Nothing ever has, really - nothing's came across him that should. He's adapted to have a sort of fatherly demeanor, with him never being too serious unless he needs to be, always being a shoulder to cry on, and just in general being a mature dude. Sometimes, he's got nothing better to do than listen.

That temperament has got him to many a place in life - like living it on the high seas would lead to anything else. Friendships where they wouldn't happen, food that he wouldn't try, people he wouldn't meet - all things he got on the waves. Nothing short of the oddest folk were along his travels too, but if they're simply odd and not too interesting they're usually just a subarticle in the pages of his history.

Artio's a big eater, and literally so. He's big, he eats big, and he'll only get bigger. This is clear in his appearance, this is clear in his appetite - basically, if you know or have seen him, you'd know this. He's got a wide range of tastes, ranging from krill to a whole person. What he's craving is usually a big part in determining who's gonna stay around.
