Somewhere deep in the woods in the east, there is a village.
It's no small village either, it has it's own rice fields which are tended to by some of those who live in the village, and connections to many other nearby villages.
So what is so special about this one village? It is the home of The Suru Ninja Clan.
The Suru Clan are not at war with the Shogun of their region, as he has a good head on his shoulders, and instead chooses to actually hire them deal with enemies of his, and gather information.
The clan in infamous for their ability to not only assassinate, but also destroy any and all evidence of their activities. Namely by consuming their victims, though that's a closely guarded secret, and all who have ever come close to finding out about this technique of their's, have always disappeared.
Other people often hire them to deal with aggressive yokai and oni or to perform escort or stealth asassinations.
There are two ways to pay the clan, with money, or rice.
Entry to the clan is by invite from an existing member or by being born into it.
