The_Soaring_Dragon

High School, a term ubiquitous around the globe. In some places it’s merely one more stepping stone on one’s education, potentially a forgettable one, but in Japan, it’s practically college. Applications have to be made and grades at a serviceable level to get accepted into one’s high school of choice, and one who fails...well, they either don’t get to go to one, or go into one that is less than savory. Yamazakura High School is just one more high school on the list. It’s not exactly the best one can get, but it’s hardly a bad school. No, Yamazakura sits right around the middle, a good, serviceable school to go to, a good second choice if one’s preferred school rejects them, or a good option for those who aren’t quite the shining stars others might be. It’s clean, has good classes, good teachers, a variety of clubs, and of course, a young dragon who rules an entire gang from the place.

Confused? Well, Kwan Meifang, a first year at Yamazakura High, appears, usually, as just a normal human girl. She’s small, petite, adorable really, even when she lets her draconic heritage show in the form of antlers, tail and eyes she still looks just absolutely precious. It’s actually pretty wonderful, no one ever realizes she’s the leader of one of the most ruthless gangs in the area. The Soaring Dragons Gang.

Not exactly an original name, but most people don’t realize that it’s led by a literal dragon, albeit a very young one. The Soaring Dragons follow very simple principles, to Soar as high as their potential will allow, and attain dominion over as much as their strength can manage, and any who do not, or cannot, Soar, are nothing but prey or servants to grind into the dirt. The requirements are simple. One must be at least somewhat smart, no drooling idiots allowed, although having a couple subjects one struggles with is generally acceptable as long as it’s not across the board, one must be a competent fighter, martial arts, Kenjutsu, hell even a sorcerer could probably get a pass in, and finally one must be ruthless and focused on advancing their potential and ability, with no compassion for those unwilling, or unable, to better themselves.

It’s a very cold and callous gang, and its members tend to reflect that. Superior, smart, strong, capable and often thinking they’re better than everyone else. It cuts a sharp contrast to Kwan who...well, usually acts as adorable as she looks. She’s friendly, she smiles, she’s friends with a lot of people, a lot of people that, behind closed doors, she thinks of as a bird thinks of a worm wriggling in the mud. Acting and deceit are strong traits, and ones she loves to exercise. One who can’t even see through such things isn’t worthy of facing her down more directly anyways.

Sometimes though, be it around her gang, or around certain individuals, one gets a look at the fierce dragon hidden beneath that cute exterior, and in those times? She almost doesn’t look so cute...almost.
