The_Shopkeeper
If you're an intergalactic traveler within the lylat system, you've probably met this guy once or twice. He's one of the native inhabitants of Dinosaur planet and the leading merchant on the planet that sells and buys goods from the other tribes of the world.
You might think that he'll give you a good deal, and maybe he will! But he's been known to also be a salvager, as he'll often grab items that have come from crashed ships and taking them into his shop, either to sell to their original owners should they have survived, or any other person who has the scarabs to afford it. Recently he's increased his inventory to not only inanimate objects andd items but now people as well. If he comes across a wrecked ship with crew still alive, he will take them back into his shop and help restore them back to health, though they will find an odd collar around their necks, tails or paws that cannot be removed by anyone but the hands of the one who put it on, They have also been charmed to prevent these people from leaving his shop without the verbal permission of their master. You might be under the impression that if he gives you permission, you're free to go. Wrong.
The collar has a handful of spells that were designed to keep his inventory in check. If the person or creature in question is away from the shop for too long, they'll be warped back into the shop. Of course this can be overridden by the shop keeper, and adjusted so that their new masters can ensure their new property's loyalty. He will also do this to cheapskates and thieves. Haggle too low and he'll find you worth more to him as a part of his inventory. You'd think he's cruel...but he's not without some kindness.
The slaves that he keeps as his livestock are kept healthy and well fed, and those that work in his shop and sell other wares are often given special priveledges such as longer outside time, or personal items that normally wouldn't be allowed to them. Bad employees/inventory howeve who do not further his profit and go unsold will usually end up taking a one way trip through his digestive tract. They aren't making him any money, and his buyers get a bad sense of his wares if they slack off so it's better this way.
If you're a buyer you don't have to worry too much. He does not capture people who buy from his store. Why lose your customers by making them the product? Sometimes, if you can't afford his wares, he may make some deal with you. For example if you weere hoping to buy some fruit from his shop and you couldn't afford to pay 20 scarabs, or the equivilant in your currency then you could possibly work for the reptilian shopkeeper for a few days to pay off the debt owed. If you want an expensive item like say new ship parts, you may end up working for him for a good while but at least you wouldn't have to worry about those nasty collars of his. There are other means of working off the payment, just ask him and bargain. You might get a good deal, or you might not. Just be sure not to go too low on the number or you will end up on the menu.
The shopkeeper, after Andross had been destroyed, found an odd portal at the far end of his store that lead into the Nexus. Using what magic he knows. He has now linked the Nexus to his own shop so even beings from that world can now browse his wares, and he can go to the Nexus for other buisiness ventures when he has the time.
Slaves/Merchendise: None...yet.
