These strange extra-planar creatures appear when a person who is supposed to die doesn't. They would go on a rampage attacking everything that was in their vicinity because they hungered and attacked anything nearby...
But, what if one didn't go away when the person that was supposed to die actually does die eventually?
It eats you.
The creature is very smart and yet acts like a savage beast because it hungers... and it hungers ALL the time. Generally, the older something is, the more protected it is. Why? I don't know.
