HYSCHARAKHyscharak is, in short, not the best tourist destination. It's ruling class can be a bit xenophobic as well as the fact that they've convinced everyone that they're practically gods. This setting could best be described as a dark fantasy, I suppose. I'm completely open to playing -any- sort of character in this setting- and I encourage you to do the same if you'd like! No limits, aside from keeping it within the boundaries described in this setting. A 15-foot space alien weilding an atomic blaster simply wouldn't fit in here.
WHAT IS HYSCHARAK?It is an ancient kingdom, set in a time before the dawn of modern technology. Hyscharak, the Land of Serpents; a vast empire built on the foundations of conquest, dominance and subjugation. Their capitol nation of Hyscharak was once a rather peaceful, quiet collection of hillsides and villages. Villagers led a simple life of farming and trade until the Hyschari came from across the sea, from a distant, unknown continent. Claiming the new land they'd discovered as their own in the name of their serpent god, the naga race proved to be an unstoppable force against the helpless, untrained countrymen. While many of the villagers attempted to band together and fight back, it proved to be a rather one-sided war and ultimately, the Hyschari emerged victorious with their captives enslaved, herded like cattle and forced to work in construction or in the mines.
Hyscharak is the end result of their hard labor, a glorious tribute to their serpent masters. What was once a land left undisturbed is now a massive capitol city, home to the Hyschari serpents. Hyscharak is also home to many other races as well, the descendants of the original slaves. These people live under the thumb of their masters, governed by the tenets of Hyschari law to live either as servants to the naga race, or as food. To the outside world, Hyscharak is a no-man's-land, a society best left alone and avoided; to infiltrate it's borders is utter madness, they say. The snakes will make sport of you and eat you alive, they say. And they're absolutely right.
GENERAL APPEARANCEThe Hyschari are not necessarily a specific race, but simply the name given to a powerful tribe of naga, one of many such tribes infact, belonging to a collective race who share a close physical appearance with the monstrous snakes from whom they evolved. Through generations of crossbreeding, this group of naga managed to develop the traits of both posionous and constricting snakes. An entirely reptilian species, their upper bodies are typically double in mass compared to the average person and vaguely humanoid; females may even show signs of breast development despite being an egglaying species. However anthropomophized the torso may seem, the similarities end there as the Hyschari are completely covered in smooth, glistening scales, while the face shares all the physical traits of a snake, tapering into a snout replete with heat-sensing pits. As they seem to have evolved from a breed of snake not unlike various cobras, the Hyschari possess wide hoods that fan out from either side of their head, which billow outwards in times of stress or anger, again mirroring the behavior of the cobra. Past the waistline, a Hyschari naga's body descends into the appearance of something more closely resembling a snake, long and thick and quite muscular. With these massively long bodies the Hyschari are not only able to glide across the ground with an effortless, slithering motion, but are fully capable of wrapping themselves around their prey to apply life-crushing constrictive pressure.
INTERNAL ANATOMY/FEEDINGThe internal anatomy of a naga such as one of the Hyschari is quite unique. Take into consideration that they essentially possess two bodies, one humanoid and one serpentine. While their digestive tract is still singular, the Hyschari actually possess two hearts to maintain blood flow through their bodies, as well as multiple lungs, two within the humanoid torso and a more primitive air sac, common to most snakes, stretched out across the length of the snake body in order to keep said bloodflow oxygenated. In fact, most of the Hyschari's natural organs are doubled in some way to ensure the proper function of their lengthy bodies. When it comes to food, the Hyschari rely on their natural hunting instincts to locate, constrict and kill their prey, before devouring it whole. At times, they may allow their prey to stay alive by a narrow margin, forcing the prey to experience the horror of being eaten alive firsthand. If things prove to be too difficult, they often rely on their concealed fangs, quickstriking with a biting attack to deliver a powerful dose of neurotoxic venom, capable of full-body paralysis almost immediately on delivery.
It all starts with prey identification. Like many snakes, Hyschari nagas possess many heat-sensing pits along their snouts that allow them to hone in on one's body heat. Through that they can determine levels of stress, heart rate, and general health, markers that assist a Hyschari in finding the most nutritious meal. With their tongues long and forked, they can gather scents from the air; touching their tonguetips to the roofs of their mouths allow them to directly interact with a prey's scent, allowing them to determine the awareness level and emotional state of the meal by the intensity of it's scent. After a slow, terrifying approach, the serpent lunges forth, arms out in a tackle and jaws set to bite, typically at the neck of shoulder region. Using their weight to push the prey to the ground, a Hyschari immediately rolls and twists with it's victim, wrapping around it tightly into their embrace. In many cases, the prey's body is the main focus, leaving it's legs free. Constriction begins almost immediately, squeezing just a little air out of the victim's lungs at a time while tightening further to prevent any further inhalation. While the intense pressure on the body can break bones, the main focus is on asphyxiating the prey.
Once comfortable with their meal, be it dead or barely alive, a Hyschari feeds like any other predatory snake, unhinging it's jaws to display a wide, horrific yawn before the face of the fallen. Parting it's upper and lower jaws at a perfect 180° angle, the meal is immediately introduced to the snake's slimy, pink mouth, skipping all pleasantries and going right to the throat. With seemingly infinitely elastic cheek flesh, A Hyschari can wriggle it's mouth down over an adult humanoid's head and even shoulders with little difficulty. With rows of hooked teeth to prevent anything still alive from going any other way but down and a breathing tube located at the floor of it's mouth, A hyschari can take it's time eating; indeed, a fully grown adult will typically take 30 minutes to an hour to fully ingest. From there it's simply a straight shot through a long, agonizingly slow process of peristaltic waves, pushing the meal through the snake's body to meet with it's stomach, where slow-working gastric enzymes will break the meal down over a period of several days to two weeks. Located at the end of their snake bodies, everything ends with a push through the cloaca/anal cavity as a pile of waste, undigested bone and whatever personal items couldn't be broken down.
RELIGIONThe Hyschari tribe derives it's name from it's patron deity, the god Hysch. It is their beleif that the serpent god Hysch created the world for his chosen offspring, the naga. Being divine avatars of their god, all other forms of life are beneath them, and were created to serve a purpose. Therefore, stronger and more able-bodied species are treated as a labor workforce, while the weaker species are often relegated to positions of service and menial tasks, as well as the unfortunate distinction of serving as food, should the need arise. in much the same way as we view cows and pigs, the Hyschari see humankind as livestock to be raised and bred for sustenance, often keeping a stable full of 'farm-raised' humans for their needs. They beleive in an unending cycle of life, death and rebirth, a circle that they alone have the ability to control. Citizen, servant, slave or pet, and even a human, can request death by feeding at the hands of their serpent masters; if they are truly faithful, the experience of being eaten will simply be the end of one life and the beginning of the next, their master sending them to Hysch to be reborn into a divine serpent. For the damned, there is no spiritual purgatory or hell, but simply to be reborn into a life destined for torment at the Hyschari's hands. Naturally, these doctrines of faith have kept many serpents well-fed with willing followers, while instilling dread into the minds of those who wish to resist. Interestingly, while there may not be a definitive Hell as we know it, the Hyschari do beleive in the existence of 'The Devil' of sorts, envisioned as a great and frightening dragon. This is due to the fact that large feral dragons are among the only beasts these serpents truly fear as natural prey. For this reason, dragonslayers are renowned as holy warriors, and to own an anthro dragon slave is to show prestige and power, having literally mastered the Devil himself.
SOCIAL CASTESFollowing their ideology, Hyscharak is governed by a rather specific social ladder. The species one is born into more or less dictates their function in society. This is not entirely written in stone, in fact, it is stated by law that all species are given equal opportunity. However, traditional expectation still reigns supreme, and it is more likely that the strong and sturdy rhinocerous will earn the heavy lifting job than the meek and timid mouse. Therefore, Hyscharak is generally ruled by it's class structure.
-Hysch-
The patron deity of the Hychari and their subjugated citizens. Hysch is not always seen as a generous figure and is often considered a callous and spiteful god, even to the Hyschari themselves, His 'favored divine children'. All are taught to worship Him through fear and humility, and that to offer their bodies to nourish the bodies of their masters is the highest calling and a chance at divine rebirth. Those who refute Him are often branded heretics and tortured, sold into slavery, butchered, or worse.
-The Hyschari-
Apart from the doctrines that govern their citizens, the Hyschari follow their own social structure, which starts at the Emperor himself, their political and religious leader who rules from the Grand Palace and commands a collection of enslaved dragons and leads the faith with his priests. Governors command specific regions of the city, ruling over the citizens who live near their palaces. Nobles and Ladies are tasked with amassing great fortunes to offer to their Governors, the Emperor and God. Praetors serve their Nobles, Ladies, Governors and the Emperor as bodyguards, enforcers and personal escorts. Slayers are tasked with the celebrated duty of exterminating dragons from the region, while Guardians patrol the city walls and hunt down potential threats. To the Hyschari, great respect must be paid to the higher ranking, but to the citizens, all Hyschari are to be seen as living gods.
-Animal Races-
The vast majority of Hyscharak's citizens are made up of various intelligent species, all of whom must follow their own social structure just like their masters. Put rather simply, those who are of a strong and sturdy lineage, Equines and Bovines for example, are often trained in the arts of blacksmithing, construction and demolition, and military service. They are given jobs and tasks considered invaluable and important, and are often paid well by their masters. Lesser races, often rodents such as rabbits and mice, pigs, avians, Are generally raised to beleive they are largely expendable. Shopkeepers and scribes, tailors and miners, They perform menial tasks and are paid considerably less for it. They are often the first ones to be sold into slavery should they fail their masters, and as they tend to breed in greater numbers, their populations are....controlled.
-Humans-
For generations, Human civilization has sought to destroy the Hyschari Empire, and for good reason. Humans are seen by the Hyschari as little more than cattle to be raised and bred in great numbers within vast stables, an entire population hidden away from the public and serving only one simple purpose in life: Food. Humans are almost hairless. They have no natural defenses, and their bodies develop at a rate comparable to the serpents' own. Placed under proper restraints, they pose little threat, even in great numbers. This makes them the perfect go-to meal for the Hyschari. Whether captured from the outside or raised in captivity with little intelligence, humans are treated like animals...albeit with the same affection a farmer would give his livestock. Well-fed, cleaned and groomed and kept comfortable in their stables, humans are also forcibly bred with one another, milked and culled for their meat. Their children are often raised to a certain age before being fed to a naga youngling. Those who were captured, i.e. POWs or failed invaders, who show higher intelligence and speech, are often seen as more of an exotic animal. They may be treated as pets for a time, led about on leashes and living by their master's side, at least until said master tires of their company.
-Lamias/Demis-
Body of a human, tail of a snake. A combination of lowly meat creature and Holy Divine, the Hyschari view their Lamia cousins as outright abominations, heretical sub-creatures who deserve little more than death without the chance of rebirth. Lamias must prove themselves at almost every turn. If ever there was a race to experience actual, hateful prejudice in Hyscharak, it is the Lamia. For demi races, life is equally rough, for they share a human appearance with animal traits. While they may live as citizens and even find gainful employment, Serpents and even other animals will often refer to them as 'meat'. For a demi, the price of failure is almost always to be dragged off to the 'farm', to live their lives in fear of being culled.
-Dragons-
One of the few races the Hyschari completely fear, epitomizing their culture's version of the devil. Most feral dragons are easily capable of preying on serpents, and to the naga, a death at the hands of a dragon offers no chance of divine rebirth. Those of the anthro variety are valued highly among the naga, to own a dragon servant is to show ultimate dominance and prestige.
SERVICE CASTESMirroring the Empire's social structure is a more specific 'sub-caste', known as the Service Caste. This generally details how one may be viewed by the Hyschari, based on five categories: Citizen, Servant, Slave, Pet, and Meat.
-Citizen-
The general population of Hyscharak. Apart from 'abominations' such as Lamias and Demis who are scorned in society, Hyschari law actually states that citizens be treated 'equally and fairly'. This does not directly interpret into 'inalienable rights' such as free speech, and CERTAINLY not freedom of religion, but simply means that it is actually considered sacriligious and heretical to arrest or devour a citizen for no reason, and that while they -are- made of nourishing meat, citizens are the lifeblood of the Empire; they must be given food, education, medical care. They must be paid for their efforts. Their Governors must provide for them and see that their concerns are met. In return, they must abide by their Governor's decisions. They must remain faithful to their masters. They must be willing to give up their children to a young master for nourishment, if the need arises. Citizens may own Pets, if given to them by a Hyschari master.
-Servant-
Servants are members of a voluntary workforce who pledge their lives, their bodies and souls to a Hyschari master. They request a meeting with a Serpent by whatever means are available, and should they be accepted, are given employment by said master. Servants are often given personal quarters within a palace and are actually placed on a payroll. They cook and clean for their masters, tend to the needs of any younglings and tend to the masters' cattle and any Pets. Servants also tend to their masters directly, oiling their hides and scrubbing away dead scales upon annual sheddings. Servants also have the unique position of being able to tell their masters no; they may refute anything from sexual advances to requests to perform a task, which then simply falls to the next servant in line. In return for this generous treatment, a servant must understand that at any time, a master may decide to terminate their employment, usually if they have not performed to satisfaction, and hire a replacement. Naturally, 'Replacement' does not end with the servant being sent home, but rather with them dying in the coils and bellies of their master, to be sent to Hysch for judgment.
-Slave-
Slaves are Citizens who could not meet the Empire's needs. Typically, they are petty criminals, tax evaders, homeless. Slaves are collected and caged, displayed at the slave markets and either sold outright or auctioned off based on their state of health and abilities. Slaves perform much of the same work as a servant, with a few unique differences. Slaves receive no pay. While slaves -must- be fed, there are no rules stating how, and how much. Slaves have no privacy, and often sleep in cages or chained somehow to the foot of their masters' beds. Slaves cannot refute their masters, and are often used for sexual pleasure and they must learn to accept that. Slaves are often kept naked, and are only given clothing if the need arises. Slaves may be owned by anyone, including citizens, and may be eaten at any time, in any manner, be it whole, alive, cooked or butchered. Slaves must also answer to Servants as though they were owned by them.
-Pets-
The path to becoming a pet is varied, but they are often slaves or one of the lesser races- lamia, demi, human. A pet is essentially a different sort of slave, one who isn't forced to labor but is still objectified and humiliated into submission. The treatment of a pet varies from owner to owner, but they are often treated like domestic animals, collared and leashed, left unclothed and taken out for walks, petted and given scritches and belly rubs and treats for doing tricks. Pets have no real jobs to speak of, other than to keep their masters happy. They are an ear for their masters' greivances, a playmate, a companion. Of course, it should be no surprise what happens when a master tires of their pet.
-Meat-
Obviously, this is the absolute lowest tier anyone could occupy. There was a time many centuries ago, when the land upon which Hyscharak was built was once inhabited not only by tribal animal races but civilized humans as well. When the Hyschari came to conquer, they set about removing all traces of human civilization and began imprisoning and selectively breeding the race until they had been dumbed down into a manageable and docile replenishable food supply. Simply put, the humans of Hyscharak are little more than cattle, and are treated as such. On the outskirts of the empire, there are still remnants of humanity who've retained their sentience, though they are few and far between. Though they may live in coexistence with the other citizens of the empire, the Hyschari still consider them to be little more than meat.
TL;DR: Hyscharak is the capitol city of a predatory empire set in a fantasy world where snake people rule almost as gods. Nonhumans are ruled with an iron fist, and humans themselves are little more than livestock to be devoured at any time.
Modern_Hyscharak - Far into the future, to an age where society and technology has advanced to that of Earth's current-day standards. In this version of Hyscharak, the Hyschari are still the ruling body of government, of course, and to an extent still weild tremendous religious influence. The demand for willing sacrifices has gone down somewhat, but it's not uncommon for a devout follower to make an offering from time to time. While they still keep ferals in their pens for consumption, they have allowed sentient humans to gain their 'freedom'. This means humans are treated as people rather than cattle. However, the stigma of their purpose to the serpents has never quite left them. This setting would allow for more diverse interaction with human characters, among other things. Any feedback on this idea would be appreciated, of course!
The_Wild_Clans - Go back some thousand years ago, back to a time when Hyscharak was only just developing, on a vast continent known simply as The Wild Lands, or The Wild Continent. In this era, the Hyschari were still campaigning for total conquest, an invading force of ruthless barbarians. Elsewhere, the rest of the land was dotted with tribal communities of various animal clans, human settlements, elven retreats and more, all living in general peace with one another, barring the occasional conflict here and there. This is a good setting for short vore stories involving the clans, as well as more story-driven scenes, focusing largely on how the Empire affected the clans, and the death of an age of innocence.
Hyscharak is a land ruled by predatory snakes who demand they be worshiped almost as gods. In this world, you are either on top or on the bottom of the food chain, depending on your race and social standing. (I'm happy to play either side.)

Once again, if a citizen wishes to engage in these practices, it must usually be done with the permission and under the supervision of a naga; this ensures that the act was made legal under Imperial ruling. -

The Hyschari impose strict laws against rape, but they can only do so much to protect the populace. -

- Sexuality can be diverse, though most Hyschari prefer to be truly intimate with members of their own kind. Sexual activity with other races is often one-sided. Along with murder and theft, rape is a punishable offense, though prisoners and slaves can be used as their masters desire. Servants are usually treated with more consideration, and often the act can be consensual. With humans, sexual contact is almost always utilitarian, forcing two humans to breed to produce more meat, or if the male proves unruly, a forced 'milking' to obtain a donor sample. Outright sex with a human is almost viewed as bestiality, and generally frowned upon. That's not saying it doesn't happen. -

Several hundreds of pounds of pressure squeezing the breath out of your lungs...which are quite well protected by your ribs. Meanwhile, your squishy bladder and intestines are left relatively unguarded. The end result? Aside from worshipers, there are slaves and humans who've cried and protested against their destined fate, only for those pleas to fall on deaf ears. -

Allright, here's the controversial one. Like any snake, the naga must consume larger meals as it grows in size. And so, children are most certainly a foodsource here. In Hyscharak, a family with children may be visited at any time by a naga parent with child. That young naga is not visiting for a playdate. Additionally, child slavery is indeed a thing. However, it exists on a blurry line between 'slave' and 'pet'. They possess very few rights, if any, and are often denied clothing aside from the standard collar, unless the weather calls for it. While lack of consent is not illegal, sexual activity is generally considered something the slave must understand and agree to, with measures being taken to ensure the slave isn't hurt and perhaps able to enjoy the experience.
