In the years that passed after Nightmare moon's defeat, the princess of the night had come upon many new and ancient spells she was not permitted to learn whilst imprisoned, given obvious reasons. In her spare time she managed to read and learn a few of these spells when she came back and reformed with the help of those six other ponies. While they did defeat Nightmare Moon they did not banish her.

They merely trapped her again.

Deep within the being of Luna remained the nightmarish princess that tried to throw the world into darkness. Among some of the spell Luna did learn was one to seperate the soul from the body, a sort of, astral projection in a sense. She already knew such a spell given her place as the princess of the night, but this seemed more, complete. As if it were stronger somehow. Really, the impulse was forced from the Nightmare within. Months would pass and Luna would soon master the spell, as would the nightmare within. The first time she properly tried it, thinking nothing of the consequences, Nightmare cast it as well. In a blinding flash, the princess was split. Her smaller form having grown and nightmare being released.

The force of the tear however managed to send both of them flying in the opposite direction, the only difference between where they landed was a wall in the way, as the princess his the castle and nightmare went flying off. Her body was reborn, given new life, given... No power. Her magic had been used with that spell, but with it she had escaped her previous prison. The best she could do when getting her bearings was fly to the everfree and hide out in here. Some say they saw her fly into the forest, those that did went and checked. They were never heard form again, their bones and refuse littering the forest floor.

Nightmare fully intends to garner her magic and strength again, she has enough now to at least surprise and take care of any trespassers that may end up in her home. But she is nothing in comparison to a princess. Her strength and cunning are her strongest skills as of the moment, and she will use every trick in the book to gain her strength. Even if it means eating any who dare cross her path.

Pray you are not on her path.

After a rather eventful little time with Ace_Trainer_Blake, Nightmare has taken her as not only her servant, but also keeps her sloshing around in her breasts for the forseeable future. She's very much alive, but when she'll see the dark of the night is.. Depatable.
