Formerly a military instructor in a distinguished school, he was sentenced to death after a incursion left him infected with vampirism. However, during his execution, his sister intervened, allowing for his escape although it left her fate unknown. He hasn't seen his family in so long that he feared the worst.

Alone and marked with a bounty, he barely survived in the wild and eventually came into contact with a covenant of other vampires who were exiled like him. His kind heart, charisma, and experience in military tactics would later lead him to be elected as their leader, uniting them with a common cause.

Although violent and vindictive to his enemies, Koval ultimately wishes the best for his people, and will stop at nothing to end the stigma they suffer from every day.

(PSA: This character can be played in any setting, not just Fantasy. Also, he can be demoted from being a Lord and be a standard Vampire if it suits the scene better.)

Backstory

In his previous life, Koval Pecevolle was a military professor for a prestigious school situated within the elven nation of Viranllo. He specialized in military tactics, combat training, and leadership, having served in the army years prior due to a draft. Although he loathed the current oppressive leadership of the nation, he gained a reputation for his entertaining lectures and his unique way of reading the hearts of his students, supporting them in their times of strife, encouraging them to think creatively, and radiating a welcoming presence overall.

Everything changed, however, when a government-mandated incursion brought him to a dungeon infested with Vampires. During it, he would be injured gravely by an ambush orchestrated by the nightcrawlers. Although Koval was able to complete the mission and escape with his life, he would later find out that the attack had left him afflicted with the Curse of Vamphyrix - the profane pestilence that led to Vampirism. This led to him being sentenced to death by his fellow High Elves, who already loathed him prior due to his "impure genes." It seemed as though he was destined to burn to ashes at the stake, but he was saved at the last moment by his younger sister Zaleria, whose intervention allowed him to escape the royal guard.

Afterward, what became of her and the rest of his family was unknown. A sizeable bounty was put on his head, effectively banishing him from the nation and dooming him to fend for himself in the wild. Circumstances forced him to take the lives of wandering travelers so the hunger caused by the Curse wouldn't claim his life, and the risk he posed to all around made him start questioning if it was even worth clinging on to this life if he would have to commit numerous atrocities to simply survive.

That is when Koval was approached by another who was afflicted with undeath - an insectoid who had found him by following the scent of death emanating from his latest victim. It explained that it had hailed from the Covenant of the Blood Moon, a brotherhood of other vampire refugees who were exiled from their homes. He was offered a place in their group, and left with little choice, Koval accepted and followed the stranger to the campsite. What he found shocked him - men, women, and even children afflicted with the Curse, barely holding on, living as outcasts.

Disturbed and motivated by the discovery, he decided to take the initiative to improve the living conditions of the afflicted, going out on expeditions to secure sustenance and supplies. Eventually, his benevolent nature, combat ability, and valuable experience led him to be elected as the leader of the covenant, gaining the title of Lord. He now leads an unrelenting movement to seek out retribution from the world that had abandoned and demonized them, a cause that many rallied behind. Although the disgraced Elf fights for justice, and he is adept at controlling his own emotions, do not try to stir his wrath. For if you do, violent retribution will soon follow.
