Background
Long before the dawn of the conscious mind and the birth of slumber there was a dark realm of dreams. It began simply enough as an ocean teaming with possibility and primal nature. The sky was a dreadful void looming over a quivering body of fluid. It was a place of incomprehensible noise and horror, generated by phantoms of nightmares and the engineers of dreamscapes. Sentient dreams were what broke the darkness forging a moon of perception, the Mind’s Eye, in the emptiness of the sky. In the dim haze of its light islands formed and were rapidly populated by creatures varying in size, shape, and disposition. The ancient beings, jealous beneath the waves, remained hidden only to reveal their presence by sending creatures of their own to disrupt the islands.

One of these creatures was born of the despairing, ravenous loneliness that consumes humans and ‘lesser’ animals alike. That entity, the Dream Alien, thrived without match consuming other dream creatures mercilessly. Linked with the ancient dream creatures by lineage they reveled in their feasting. However, as the moon grew brighter with understanding, the shadows that cloaked these nightmare maidens became smaller. Their numbers diminished as the population of sentient beings grew and it was not until the modern era of 'loneliness within crowds' that their numbers began to surge once more.

This is Tessa’s story. She was born a predator of the ancient world and over time she has honed her abilities. As sentient dreams began to grow and reach for the stars, so too did Tessa stretch heavenward. One of only a few in the land of slumber, she can manifest through the Mind’s Eye in the sky into the waking world by using sentient beings as her ‘gate’. Such humans link her with the land of dreams binding the pair physically and mentally in ways that are too subtle to comprehend. Through this she has realized her hunger for mortal flesh and a penchant for human deviance in the waking world.

Personality
Otherworldly Being: Tessa is a creature from another reality - a parallel dimension of dreamscapes. Because of this her mind and body do not follow most of the same rules that govern the waking world. Her actions can often appear quite alien and her moods will seem fluid. She can be as sweet as cake in one moment, but a violent murderess within the span of a split second. It is best to simply assume it is the fault of Tessa and not yourself. It is impossible to act properly around something your mind can never get used to.

Reality Tourist: In the same vein, Tessa does not (and often does not want to) understand certain things about the waking world. Unfortunately, this does not often grant a native to the waking world any advantage. Chances are, any attempt to trap or harm her will result in the attacker's demise - if not worse. Tessa is intelligent enough to feign ignorance and since she knows sentient creatures from their dreams, it's likely she can spot a devious plot coming.

Evil Bitch: Well, that's what she is most of the time. As will be stated below, she does have a sweet and even loving side. Her evil side, however, is more likely to come out with strangers and in idle play. She enjoys doing devious things to sentient creatures. It was ingrained in her from birth to consume and enjoy other living things. It gives her great delight to torment and bask in the despair she can inflict. Manipulating people comes naturally after manipulating dreams and she isn't above using a person's deepest desires as a weapon. If you value your life and your pride, it's best to avoid her - unless she's just horny. But it's hard to figure out whether she's lusting after you or your flesh.

Playful: Tessa isn't always evil. In fact, it's much more fulfilling to be evil after you've "played nice." People are far less suspecting of something sexy, gentle, and seemingly dimwitted. When in public or simply around large groups (if she's so bold) she will default to a playful personality. She will make jokes, violate personal bubbles, and flirt depending on context. Whether this leads to charming a snack somewhere quiet or reveling in a night of socializing can be random.

Loving: Tessa only loves herself, her dear sweet Marie, and their spawn. They're Dream Aliens and, thus, are dangerous to anyone else. Never expect to witnesses this for yourself, however. Marie and Tessa are very private with their affections and if you see their spawn it's most likely that you're their dinner.
