When people talk of the monster they see in the dead of night preying upon any whittles traveler who dare stray too close to a body of water then they are likely conversing about the River King himself, Tahm Kench.

A large anthropomorphous creature who looks somewhere between a bullfrog, a catfish and a shark with a gentleman's dress sense. Initial encounter's with this being would lead one to believe they have happened upon something feral, however that happens to not be the case at all, capable of speaking in any of the worlds native tongues due to his long time spent wandering the world from river to river, one might find themselves locked in a conversation with ol' Tahm. Those that think this means they can let their guard down however are sorely mistaken, this King has an appetite to match.

He sure does love to eat aswell, considering himself a connoisseur of the finer dining, there aint nothin' that his watery maw wont devour, meat, vegetables, potatoes, live animals, live people (man, woman or child). He don't care if it abide or not, never stopped him before and it won't stop him now, they say he once aint a whole adult Indian Elephant with those jaws, lined with teeth as hard as diamonds and as sharp as razors. Quite the ferocious entity wouldn't you agree?

It's not unheard of that the ol' River King has let people go, infact it's not uncommon at all, he's no brute despite his sometimes over encumbering tendencies, he's been known to ally himself with those he deems good company or to those he owes favor, and he never see's a debt go unpaid, to those his body can act like a sanctuary, holding the trustworthy inside a separate sac within his belly that aint got no acid to burn away a friend and has plenty of room for many to stay. Though you'll know if he considers you family or not, because if you aint then he won't waste too much time pulling you down into his own dark waters.
