Syrus was created by a powerful sorcerer and bound to him as a familiar. His job was to obey everything his master commanded of him; the two of them had a deep connection to one another that superseded the bounds of master-and-familiar; there was a deep affection they both held for one another.

Unfortunately, though the sorcerer was able to extend his life a couple hundred years, he was still mortal. As a mortal, he had to die. Syrus knew the day would come, but he could never properly prepare himself for it. In the last few months of his master's life, Syrus stayed by his side whenever possible, instead calling for others to go fetch things that the sorcerer needed. He held his master in his last moments.

On that day, Syrus' contract was dissolved, thus stripping him of his title. Though his master wished for him to find a new being to serve, Syrus was drunk with grief and instead resigned himself to the life of "freedom." He doesn't think there could be any to fill the void his former master left in his heart.

Scene Ideas:
1. It doesn't take much to seal the familiar contract; merely a kiss on the lips. After that point, regardless of what Syrus wants, he will be forced to serve his new master... Your character may just happen to become the one to fill this role. (long-term story-focused scene. Player is very interested in playing this one moreso than the second.)

2. The free Syrus is a little wild; he does what he wants when he wants. He might encounter your character and then use them to sate one of his appetites. (short term)
