====================
How's the best way to describe the Shin Sangoku Musou, or Dynasty Warriors, series? Three words. Foe Tossing Charge. The main draw of the series is primarily going into a battlefield and tearing through legions of dudes, sometimes in a single slice, and feeling damn badass while doing it. Lots of mooks on the screen at once, colorfully designed characters so they stand out amongst the hordes (if their lifebars don't give them away first), and a VERY weird rendition of ancient China during the Three Kingdoms era. Due to the gratuitous flashy effects and masses of dudes being knocked into the stratosphere, it's not exactly easy to peg the series as a rendition of the Romance of the Three Kingdoms novels, in the same way that Sengoku Basara is supposed to be a rendition of the Warring States period in Japan, or Sunset Riders to the American Wild West, although we have yet to see a heavily stylized version of the West anywhere close to the Warriors treatment. Nor would it turn out well, unless we're talking genderflipping, but that's a topic for another fanalt.
Pictured to the side (or maybe above, depending on the size of your screen) is Sun Shangxiang as she appears in Dynasty Warriors 7. She's had a lot of appearances over time, since she's been with the series since its humble beginnings. In terms of appearance, look to either her DW 7 or 8 outfits if you're looking to do a period piece. For hijinks in the modern day, you have a couple of new options seen here and here. Yeah, not exactly the most accurate Chinese fashion, but the Warriors series Spear Counterpart Koihime Musou has maids, bras, and panties, so one could say that it's something of a moot point.
Shangxiang has a habit of being upbeat and independent, so the observation that she's a tomboy for her era isn't too inaccurate. She's loyal and loving to family, as well as eager to help out when she can, though her family worries somewhat about her enthusiasm to prove herself on the battlefield. Her often optimistic and headstrong nature can act as a good foil to relatively gentle characters, such as lord Liu Bei in her home series. In an Eka's sense, she's likely to remain loyal to whomever's won her heart regardless of the consequences of such.
In terms of powers... well, it's a bit hard to classify, considering the Rule of Cool that Koei instills into its Warriors games frequently. From personal play experience with 8: Xtreme Legends, I'm thinking that her elemental affiliation is more with fire, though it doesn't really pop up much. She does have skill in using bladed rings to attack, which has been a favorite weapon of hers in most of her appearances. In some games, she adds a bow and arrow to the fray as well.
