Contradictor Stultus Immaculus

Stultus is a psionicist-priest, a holy man of an order which believes that God is distant and that the world is a dead place of clockwork. Most of his brethren are philosophers and scientists, seeking to gain a better understanding of the deep nature of this most profound of puzzles. Stultus, on the other hand, is an Ambassador to the Orthonormal. It is his task to meet with the odd and the outlandish, the pure and the vile, and to establish and strengthen good relationships with those he finds. He cut his teeth deciphering the language and mores of one minor family of imps in the Schwartzwald. Since then he wandered into this place.

Needless to say, he has been kept somewhat busy.

Rather than have Stultus go around frantically saying hello to each and every odd thing in the park, which would be both impossible and mortally dangerous, his superiors have given him a much tighter brief: Find those who take part in the architectural struggle of Heaven and Hell---or whatever homologous structures actually exist---and learn more. Thus, Stultus will seek out angels and demons in all their forms, the former with awe and the latter with trepidation, and deliver the greetings of---and perhaps extend a offer from---his order.

Physical description

Physically, Stultus is a tall and angular creature. His wiry arms are lost in a voluminous white shirt, cinched in by strips of fabric at the wrist and elbow and clasped to his body by a slightly threadbare waistcoat. His shoes are tough and well-worn. He carries a light backpack and a belt, from which dangle a number of contraptions. A sample:

• Spirit lens: Known to him as a Van 't Hoff lens, this honey-coloured cylinder of weird glass permits him to see lines of force in spirit and magic. The resulting images are vague and difficult to interpret but give him more to go on than just his standard-issue human eyes.
• Jansen field generator: A silver device packed with coils and batteries. When activated it produces a spherical field that reinforces the membrane between the physical and ortho-physical worlds. Its effect is to make the two worlds opaque to one another, so a purely-spiritual entity could walk right past him (for some value of "past") and not know he was there. Incarnated spiritual creatures like angels and demons might experience being inside the field as unpleasant---it will dampen their connection to the more-than-physical for as long as they remain within the field. (The idea is that magic won't work within this sphere, although summoning a brick above the sphere and then letting it fall will still leave him with a terrible headache.)

Psychospiritual description

That humans can think at all is a wonder. Their brains are precisely as developed as is necessary to permit thought, and not one jot better. This fact offends Stultus's order, who seek to improve themselves by rewriting their minds through meditation, argument, and some surgeries. Their work manifests in a range of effects: perfect recall, quick thinking, telepathy, preternatural control over the body, and in the upper orders, even the ability to detach the soul/mind from the body and let it experience the orthonormal directly.

Stultus himself is a middling Self-Author, as these self-made savants call themselves. His precise abilities will vary from rp to rp, but will always be purely mental, never impacting directly on the physical world. They are likely to make him a challenge for any creature that takes a direct interest in Stultus's soul.

OOC notes

Character is mortal, and will react as such. If he comes back, it'll be a completely different story, and he naturally won't remember a thing. Open to permavore---discuss first!

I mainly want my partner to have a good time. That said, some things fit better in my head than others. If the setting is real-world or physical, I generally prefer "realistic" things to happen. Stultus being a human, you'd have to be a dragon, giantess, naga or a similar natural-looking predator of humans for it to really scratch me right. However, in a dreamscape/soulvore setting, the sky's the limit for weird, powerful symbols and metaphors and stuff. Demonesses are particularly appreciated.

Story ideas/scenes we'd like to see:

• I like the idea of Stultus being the weak-point in a much stronger ally's armour. Scenario: Stultus, in the course of his work, has fallen in love with an angel, and the angel in love with him. Stranger things have happened. But what's this? Stultus is in trouble?! The angel will surely come help, but what if the threat wasn't interested in Stultus...
• My enduring obsession is with a demoness that will infiltrate my character's mind and consume him within a dream, especially if the medium they choose to employ is tail vore. But pretty much anything goes in a dreamworld.
