With a flourish of a bright pink wing, the avian draws in the eyes of the crowd. She stands proud, a vibrant pink Jay, shorter than even the shortest mice-morphs watching from beyond her stage. Silence surged around her, an inaudible drumbeat waiting. Then, the Jay began to dance. She drew the audience’s eyes with every twirl of her talon, a twist spinning herself like a royal top on display. Her well-worn maidservant’s uniform seemed to become a part of her, an extension of her brilliant pink feathers, showing off her assets, kept in check by the white-green flower on her hat. Her step was hypnotic, practiced, almost perfectly measured. In another world, she could have won medals for her talonwork.
