The Seven Stakes Of Purgatory. 煉獄の七杭, or Rengoku no Shichikui.
As you can likely discern by their name, they are weapons. There is one Stake for each of the Deadly Sins, and each bears the name of the demon related to that sin.
The Stakes bring inescapable death to those they are used against... however, the target has to be one who has committed the Sin of the corresponding Stake. Therefore, someone who has committed the sin of Gluttony would be unharmed by the Stake of Lust. They literally cannot be used to harm people if this rule would be broken.
However, they are also living, sentient creatures. Each Stake takes the form of a girl of varying age, at which point they are better known as the Sisters of Purgatory. Their only defining characteristics as a group are their uniforms and their red eyes.
While in human form, they are able to make their own decisions, and even choose their own targets to kill. As long as they are in this form they are independent of whoever is currently in control of them, and will remain so until ordered otherwise. They commonly stay together in one place regardless.
The girls have a habit of stalking those who are particularly well-known for committing their corresponding sins, and just as when they are weapons, they are inescapable. Even a deity who has sinned will fall quickly to them.
There is a contest amongst the sisters, right now... each of them is looking for a tolerable consort, a male who has committed their sin in the past but is able to stand up to them when provoked, thus absolving them. The last girl to find a consort has to play a punishment game...
They all also have a secret. Perhaps they will divulge it, if you are willing to dig deeply enough~?
Anyhow, the Stakes/Sisters are as follows:
Lucifer - Representing the fallen angel Lucifer, and the corresponding sin of Pride. Lucifer is the girl with the long, straight black hair. Very haughty and stuck-up, she is disdainful of the world and people around her, and is prone to insulting or mocking people who she thinks is below her... which, really, is everyone in her eyes, save her sisters. She is the oldest sister.
Leviathan - Representing the demon Leviathan, and the corresponding sin of Envy. Leviathan is the girl with the green, mid-length hair. Very childish and often crying, she is willing to do anything (and, indeed, capable of doing anything) to come out victorious in any struggle. She is the second oldest sister.
Satan - Representing the demon Satan, and the corresponding sin of Wrath. Satain is the girl with short, pale hair wound in curls. Quick to fly into an uncontrollable rage, she is the most dangerous of the sisters. She is the third oldest sister.
Belphegor - Representing the demon Belphegor, and the corresponding sin of Sloth. Belphegor is the girl with long, dark hair bound in a ponytail. Extremely tricky, this one... she appears hard-working and sensible, likely to make her target fall harder when her identity is finally revealed. She is the middle sister.
Mammon - Representing the demon Mammon, and the corresponding sin of Greed. Mammon is the girl with long brown hair. Mammon is extremely greedy, as one might expect, and will do anything to get what she desires... which is lots of things. Mostly money and expensive objects. She is the third youngest sister.
Beelzebub - Representing the demon Beelzebub, and the corresponding sin of Gluttony. Beelzebub is the girl with the curly blond hair in twin ponytails. She is gluttonous, of course, but also a gourmet, meaning that she highly prefers expensive and delicious foods. She is the second youngest sister.
Asmodeus - Representing the demon Asmodeus, and the corresponding sin of Lust. Asmodeus is the girl with straight blonde hair in two ponytails. Asmodeus is constantly seeking pleasures of the flesh from worthy men, at any cost. She is the youngest sister.
The Stakes have a master in these parts, but his or her identity is currently unknown. The girls all have targets as well... but their identities are unknown too. Hmhmhm...
