Spoopi
Ohhh boy, where to start with this one? You know how people like to make cute Halloween decorations to ready for the holiday?
Well that's where Spoopi comes in, the ill-advised attempt of a magical confectioner to create a kid-friendly mascot with which to peddle their wares for the biggest season in candy-making. The original intent was a friendly, cute golem that could pass out samples on the street...it went...poorly. Turns out that it was a bit too unnerving and eventually was carried off by a flock of sea gulls never to be seen again. The second attempt was more devious, using magic on a holiday volunteer to make them a bit more 'sweet' to help work the register...yeah, turns out once she understood what she had signed on for, she was less than pleased and absconded with the register and half of the holiday profits. Feeling a bit frustrated but determined not to fail, the confectioner decided to try one last time and worked late into the night with a bottle of Jack Daniels for company.
In the morning, Spoopi opened her eyes in a completely devastated kitchen of a candy shop with a drunk creator draped over top of her. It seems that in an attempt to create a pliable, loyal employee to that could become a brand in their own right, Spoopi's creator decided to mix both of their prior methods and created...well...Spoopi.
A taffy girl.
Don't drink and create life.
Anyway, Spoopi wandered off before the confectioner could wake up and so never found out exactly what her purpose was supposed to be beyond some vague ideas that it related to Halloween and being 'super-spooky'. And with a brain like a sponge, all it took was passing by an electronics store playing some cheesy flick about the 'spirit of Halloween' to convince the dim-witted Halloween golem that she was a magical spirit embodying the holiday and she had to totes get on that! After all, Christmas has Santa Claus, Easter has the Bunny, the Fourth of July has George Washington, and now Halloween had Spoopi! ....yeeaaaahhhhhhhh. Problem is, Spoopi isn't actually that scary. See that picture above? Taken in the middle of a large grocery store in broad daylight and was an honest to goodness attempt to spook people because when you were created with the intention to embody the 'spoopy' meme and your brain is literally made of candy, you can be a bit of a ditz...okay, a HUGE ditz. She honestly believes her name is spelled right for 'spoopy'.
But hey, at least there's a cute taffy girl in a revealing skeleton costume that's real sweet wandering around! ...what could go wrong?
