Power is it's own reward. This is a core belief in Syndra's philosophy, a philosophy that many would call cruel, unfair, and unjust...but to her, those are the excuses the weak use to keep the strong from their rightful place. Power is everything, and those that don't have it, have no right to complain when those stronger than they enforce their own wills and beliefs on another. Then again, it is easy to have and follow such a philosophy, when you have as much power as the Dark Sovereign. Syndra's had power for as long as she can remember, the elders of her village, a sickeningly quiet and peaceful corner of Ionia, quickly recognized the incredible talent she showed, even during her earliest years. Naturally they took steps to have her taught and trained, not just in harnessing and wielding magic, but in trying to teach her the Ionian values of restraint and balance, two virtues that Syndra had absolutely no time or tolerance for.

Her magical power continued to grow at a terrifying rate, terrifying to the village elders at least. Compounded with her refusal or perhaps inability to learn balance, they decided to take a more extreme measure. Contact with an old mage in a temple not too far from the village was contacted, and arrangements were made. When Syndra was first told that she was being sent to somewhere where she could be taught, that she was being sent to, for all intents and purposes, a school for those of great magical talent, she was greatly excited. She learned much from the old mage during her time there, he was able to teach her much after all..but something...strange started to happen to her while she was there. Her power, which had previously been growing at a phenomenal rate, started to slow down, she felt her power starting to level off despite her youth, when such a thing shouldn't be happening at all. She was a smart girl however, and easily put two and two together, and so she went to confront her master.

In a heated argument, he at last revealed to her the true and main reason the elders of her village had sent her here. The mage was weakening her powers, dampening her potential in an effort to teach her balance and restraint. This infuriated her, it angered her beyond rational thought and the mage found himself having to threaten to completely nullify her magical talent if she did not calm down...it was a shame he didn't have time to do such a thing. Her power gathered, and she dashed him into the walls, breaking his body like so much rotted wood and killing him. The spell he had placed upon her faded away, and all that potential that had been held back burst into her like a flood. Her power rose, it went to a level that was nearly intoxicating for the young Syndra, but her rage was still there. She would not return to her village, she would not return to anything of Ionia, except as a destroyer, as a punisher and conquerer! Her power gathered, and she attempted something extreme. Her aura engulfed the castle she had been taught at..and ripped it from the ground. It floated up into the air, ripped from the ground by her immense strength, and remained afloat thanks to her skill in magic.

From there she simply set her Celestial course on a roundabout, somewhat random course across Ionia, and Valoran in general, looking down upon the weaklings from her great castle in the sky. Caution to any who see the fortress floating upon the air, Syndra finds few things more enjoyable and amusing than tormenting those weaker than her, than showing them her place...a place that most often happens to be somewhere inside her body.

((Syndra can be played out of the League of Legends setting easily. She's just a really powerful magic user is all, she can fit into most fantasy settings easy, and could feasibly work in a modern setting as well, if not quite so easily. So seriously, don't be afraid to approach if you don't know anything about League of Legends.))
