Siria Flamel. That name has spread across the land so fast, it was almost as if the wind itself came alive and willfully blew it into the ears of everyone, everywhere it went…which might not be too far-fetched an explanation, given what a powerful sorceress the woman has become. The name is quite the polarizing one, filling people with either immense amounts of disgust or feelings of exaltation; it’s a rare thing indeed for it to invoke an apathetic response. A snooty smirk and a casually dismissive wave of the hand is all most folk get in the way of interaction with this powerful beauty, though, when met in person; this is not a woman who saves a town from a pack of ravening monsters because it’s the right thing to do, but because she adores the accolades and hefty bags of coin offered to her in return. At home just as much swinging a blood-spattered sword as she is casting a complicated and powerful spell, this master of both the martial and arcane arts is a deadly beauty on the battlefield, with a tongue and wit as sharp as her blade.

Thus, perhaps the only thing more infuriating than her immense ego is…the fact that it seems so well-deserved. Blessed with a natural talent, along with a passion for the arcane arts to match, it didn’t take her very long to showcase herself as one of the premier choices for a magical apprentice, soon finding a suitably famous and powerful teacher for her to surpass. She has even proven to be an incredible teacher in her own right—for a substantial fee paid in both coin and dignity (for she often treats her apprentices like servants), she’s been able to turn even the most hopeless student of magic into a potent commander of arcane forces…though the experience doesn’t seem to do much for their own self-esteem.

Naturally, it was only a matter of time before her streak of success hit a slight speed bump, and given her levels of pride, the fall was definitely a severe one. Details on the precise nature of the event are scarce; rumors of all sorts abound, but the stories and legends of her exploits have been, suffice to say, rather recycled as of late, with little nothing new on the mouths of minstrels and bards as they travel the lands—it’s as if the winds themselves, that once carried her name, have gone silent.
In truth, she finally came across a challenge she could not best, and in a sadistic twist of fate, she became the recipient of a rather cruel, powerful curse that not even she could lift; in fact, it greatly lowered the potency of her spells…along with most everything else about her. Once the curse’s dark magic set in, the once-mighty warrior-sorceress found herself at the embarrassing height of half a foot tall.

Needless to say, at first, her entire self-concept was shattered with what was essentially a most punishing de-powering, but if she’s anything, it’s strong-willed. Now, while she might lack her former strength of arms and arcane power, she still retains her knowledge of it all, still able to be an excellent, if puny, teacher of both arms and magic…and not on one that’s given up on finding a way to return to her former glory.
